Understood  ... gate is bottom  line for all Athletic Departments l. South bend does not travel well.  It's unfortunate to say, but attendance is low for SB home events.  Sometimes Elkhart does not travel well.  The best gate for Elkhart is Elkhart v. Elkhart,  at least for now.

Don't know about Penn and Mishawaka.  I could see Marian and St. Joe up and down.

I will add that if Bremen gets with HNAC competition, travel is the worst.  Late nights.  Second would be some gates, as well.  Caston, Culver do not travel well. Sometimes Winamac and NJSP.

Triton and Pioneer do travel well. LaVille  does pretty well.

As always,  the game is better

I have always believed that the home school has support the athletic program from the following of the home crowd.  If you are counting on the visiting team to support your program you will have a lot of money problems to keep the program at the level you want it.

    Jeffersonville (Jeff) does not.

To add to the list for 4A, 5A, and 6A schools, the following have it:

Lake Central, Avon, Crown Point, Portage, Perry Meridian, Homestead, Southport, Warsaw, F.W. Northrop (I believe is getting it?), Valpo, Chesterton, LaPorte, Indy Arsenal Tech, Anderson, Zionsville, Goshen, FW Snider (I believe is getting it?), Whiteland, SB Adams, Kokomo, McCutcheon, Decatur Central, Michigan City, Elkhart Central, Greenfield-Central, Munster, Mooresville, Hammond Morton, Jennings County, Richmond, East Central, Hobart, East Noble, SB Riley, East Chicago, Logansport, Mt. Vernon (Fortville), Greenwood, Roncalli, Plymouth, New Pal, Jasper, FW Bishop Dwenger ?, Marion, Northview, New Castle, New Haven, SB Washington

If any of those schools are incorrect, please comment.

South Bend Riley plays at Jackson Field which has natural turf not artificial.

No clue.  This is what they were telling prospective football candidates in their interviews.

Knights 11221 are you going to be on the new  football staff @ Washington?

That could be. Football would have been very interesting between Bremen and Pioneer, Laville and Knox. Glenn could benefit from some of the competition. Basketball wise, the conference is pretty weak outside of Knox, Laville and Winamac. Glenn and Bremen would definitely bring up the competition level in the conference and probably help them in some sports. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Just for the records, Bremen was co-champs in the NIC-South with Marian.

  4. In South Bend Washington's case the new middle school coach had extensive experience as a high school coach including a years as a coordinator.  He also has been able to get great number of players out for football at the middle school level and more importantly keep them out for the entire season.  Recently SBCSC has been hiring former Notre Dame player as head coaches and that hasn't worked out.  They were great players but their organizational skill were sorely missing and even preparing a practice plan was difficult.

  5. Congratulations to Todd Stammich, new Washington head football coach.  Washington is fortunate to get a coach of Todd's caliber.  Todd has the ability to not only get kids to play football but to develop and keep them out for the whole season.  Are we going to have another team in the NIC playing "Bart Ball"?

    Saw that on Twitter.

Said he was middle school coach last year?  Imsc.

Combine Riley and Washington, which would give you an enrollment approximately the same as Adams.   Allow Clay to remain a Fine Arts Magnet and eliminate athletics at Clay.

With 2 high schools under 925 in SB and the fact they are facing a $10M deficit in 2020 SB is going to have start thinking of closing or consolidating some buildings

Maybe they could start by closing the corporation headquarters downtown and selling it and move into a shuttered school building

Corporation headquarters moved to Jefferson Intermediate and Jefferson Intermediate students will be moved and combined with Edison.  Take it to the bank.
