  1. **HYPOTHETICAL** point spreads for the best games this week. (Bringing this back as I saw that there are similar threads on Ohio’s hs football forum using imaginary point spreads)

    Penn (-15) at Elkhart

    Mishawaka at Concord (-4)

    Harrison WL at Zionsville (-7.5)

    Bloomington South at Castle (pk)

    6A:  Center Grove over Westfield

    5A:  Cathedral over Valparaiso

    4A:  Leo over Roncalli

3A:  Gibson Southern over West Lafayette

    2A: Luers over Linton-Stockton

    1A:  Lutheran over Adams Central

    What say you?

In 5a I see Snider or Zionsville getting there over Valpo. Leaning towards Snider right now which I would have never thought before this season.

4a Roncalli will win it all

3a I’ve got Brebeuf. Gibson Southern can definitely get it done though. 3a should have the best title game in my opinion

  3. Merrillville has proven to be arguably be the premier northern 5a/6a team of the state within the past 3-5 years, Valpo is probably next in line. That being said, last year was probably one of the best teams they’ve ever fielded and that ended in a semi-state loss (nothing to be ashamed of at all). But anyone more than a casual fan knows they are probably somewhere in the 10-15 range of best 6a teams this year. They lost some really good talent from last year. That being said, they’ve earned the right to be ranked in 6a so far. They should win their sectional fairly easy over Jeff again. Regional will be tough against Chesterton, (maybe Elkhart, but i doubt they best Chesterton) and they could very well earn another semi state birth.

  4. Sorry if you were one of the posters who disagreed with the creation of this post last week.

But the show will go on.

    GOTW Cathedral (-22) at Brownsburg

    Chatard at Warren Central (-15.5)

    Roncalli (-28) at Franklin Central

    New Pal at Brebeuf (-3)

    Warsaw (-4.5) at Michigan City

Westfield (-32) at Harrison (West Lafayette)

    Avon at Ben Davis (-6.5)

FW Carroll at FW Snider (pk)

Columbus North at Columbus East (-5)

Decatur Central at Center Grove (-29.5)

Detroit King (Mich) at Carmel (-11)

    Elkhart at Mishawaka (pk)

    Fishers (-3.5) at Pike

    HSE (-5.5) at North Central

    Adams Central at Eastside (-4)

    FW Concordia at Homestead (-13)

FW North at FW Dwenger (-14.5)

  5. Hopefully this isn’t frowned upon but I thought it would be fun to create point spreads for some of the noteworthy games each week of the season and see what people think. It can seem too easy to pick winners in hs football in Indiana but with a point spread it’s a whole different story. I am attempting to cover all the “big” games I can but it’s certainly easy to miss a few with the large amount to deal with.

This was not created to have people guess every single game (if you want to, go for it), but rather to garner discussion for games that perhaps had no other thread to be discussed in.

Reply with as little or as much as you’d like. If you feel you know 1 game much better than the others let us know what you think will happen.

Keep in mind I am creating these lines myself. If you believe I misjudged it badly please let me know and give your reasoning. I am creating these as I see fit, I have one favorite team who is not even included this week, no favoritism is used.

This is being made to create discussion, nothing more nothing less, no hard feelings intended. Please take this lightly. I love this site and cannot wait for games to kickoff tomorrow night.

    GOTW: Cathedral (-14.5) at Westfield

    Ben Davis at Brownsburg (pk)

    Carmel at Louisville Trinity (-18)

Let's hear some thoughts about the unofficial HCC MIC Challenge in Week 1!

    CG 41 WC 14

    BD 31 Brownsburg 24

    Trinity 45 Carmel 21

    HSE 27 LC 6

    Avon 35 LN 26

    Zionsville 38 Pike 24

  7. Anyone else find it it strange all the people against DT’s proposition are fans of schools like BD, CG, Cathedral and Carmel? These people act like schools like Chesterton and Lafayette Jeff are on the same playing field as Ben Davis. How hard headed and stubborn do you need to be to deny the huge population disadvantages these schools have? This is strictly about giving these 8 programs a more fair shot at a deep tourney run. That’s all. The IHSAA can’t stop the big 4 from putting the best teams on the field and passing the trophy back and forth, but they can at least do their best to balance it as best they see fit. The bullcrap response about participation trophies from Grover is so lame. Talk about being narrow-minded. We get it dude, CG can win it all with 2500 students. They are an outlier. Outliers exist. Do you get off by having schools that have good football programs that could compete with the best in 5a stuck at the bottom of 6a? Or do you just really like the number 32 for some reason? Really weird

  8. As much as I dislike how dominant the MIC is in football… i don’t want to see any of the top dogs like CG and Carmel move to the HCC. If that happens there is no longer the argument that the MIC is one of the best football conferences in the Midwest, as well as the fact that the conference will be significantly less strong. Becomes a 2 man race between Warren and Ben Davis for the foreseeable future.

The talent composite really illustrates the talent disparity across college football. The talent disparity between Ohio State and a school like Wisconsin, who by most is considered or perceived to be the 4th best B10 team (behind PSU and Michigan) is significantly greater than the talent disparity between Wisconsin and a school like Indiana or Rutgers, by an extremely wide margin.

Who the hell thinks Michigan is better than Wisconsin? Wiscy has owned them as of late. Wiscy 5-2 in last 7 meetings. And they consistently have a better record. You’re stupid.

Northern 5A gets a new look with Snider jumping into the mix. Overall though, it's looking like Cathedral at the top..........unless they are going through a rebuilding year. Who comes next though? Zionsville seems to be the safe bet, but you can never count out New Pal. Snider returns a boat load from last year.

Cathedral – Reloading as usual? Up or down this year? Does it make a difference? Number one until proven otherwise.

Zionsville – apparently a pretty good core returning from last year? They were pretty good in 2020 and kids tend to make massive improvements from their junior to senior years.

New Palestine – Although I wasn’t real impressed with his assessment of the Snider/New Pal game in 2015, I still think he is one of the Top 5 coaches in Indiana. Up or down? Someone from Central Indiana chime in on this one.

Dwenger – coming directly from the Dwenger community, this could be a rebuilding year. Or is it? Jason Garrett has proven himself as a top tier coach. Dwenger is Dwenger, so I’m not buying into the rebuilding talk. Reloading is probably more than likely. They have a tough act to follow though. I’ve never seen a team as dominant as Dwenger over the last two years and not even make it to the state championship game.

Valpo – another program whose contingent claims to be in a rebuilding year. Apparently they’ve lost a lot of studs, but word has it that there is a pretty good quarterback in the pipeline?

Snider – one year removed from their most lackluster performance in three decades, this years team needs to prove itself on the field. Returning 17 starters including an Ohio State recruit anchoring the offense and a Purdue commit anchoring the defense, the pieces are in place for a return to glory

Think Cathedral still has to be the favorite. Really hope Snider lives up the hype next season, Indiana high school football is better when they are a contender. Don’t think Valpo will be a title threat. Zionsville should be a contender again, can’t speak for Dwenger. Don’t know what New Pal is returning but will be interested to see how they do, we will find out week 1 vs Decatur Central. Coach Ralph is undoubtedly a top 3 coach, sure a lot of people have him as the best (I do).
