we have this play in our playbook as well and we teach our centers to snap it to the shoe top of our sniffer back, but 100% it is one pendulum motion from center hand to sniffer back.

That was the method I used prior to this year.  Personnel skill set dictated a change. Then I really started to like this new method.

  2. We have done this several times this year. My QB lined up 4 yards deep. FB in a stance close to the line in a "sniffer back" position. The C snaps the ball and the FB grabs it off the centers butt and goes. Last night the official told me it was illegal. I was surprised because A.) I've done it previously. B.) I have seen others do it.

    Is this indeed illegal?

  3. That makes sense. Really tough for a blocker. Everything happens fast. This is something I think on a kick return or an interception return is easier to control than a broken play. When the play occurred and the flag was thrown, I really thought if the wide receiver had tried to control him with his hands, he probably hurts himself in the process.

  4. Curious on the interpretation on this one. Passing situation. Our WR's are running routes downfield. QB scrambles and it 10 yards or so downfield. WR's turn to block while defenders are pursuing. The defender is squared up with the WR. They are running at each other but defender has his head turned inside toward the QB. Once contact is made, blindside block is called. I thought blindside block is more of a block from the side, where the defender cannot see the block coming. The defender could have seen the block coming but wasn't looking where he was running. Am I wrong?

WW did not attempt to run up the score. I am sure that their staff can vouch for that. We utilized the mercy rule as intended and subbed generously in the second the half. Young players carried the ball behind a mixed line (1st year varsity players that needed more reps and JV players capable of blocking without endangering those in the backfield). The 4th quarter was entirely young players. It was respectful throughout to assume otherwise is offensive. This thread has always been very respectful with contributions from fans and coaches. I hope it stays that way or I will not be visiting the site any longer.

I can say I had no problem with how the game went. Honestly, we have a team full of kids that have either never played or haven't played since youth. Our kids were very intimidated, which equated to lost fumbles and penalties early and we put up no resistance. That's the way it goes and I feel like we deserved to lose 72-0. We played scared and it showed. That's on us, not WW. It will be a learning process all season for our kids and unfortunately, some of our kids have since learned they don't want to play. Some have learned that team rules actually are rules and they will either sit part of or entire games. But that's a Crawford County issue and not a WW issue or anyone else we play this season. We will play PC tomorrow, hopefully we show better composure, and play a competitive game.

Silver Creek names new head coach. It is Dave Papenhaus, who was an assistant at Charlestown.

Also, apparently Rock Creek named a new head coach as well. I did not realize it was open.

Both stories are on this link.

This is an old post obviously but I noticed the man Rock Creek hired back in May, isn't actually coaching. Anyone know what happened?

I wont get into running the table and everything but I like our lineman. Our passing game has taken leaps since last year. No we cant replace bobby the player but our backs combined (Mason, Pate, Mcpheeters along with WR on sweeps) can replace the production. Our passing game is good enough to keep defenses honest and that'll help the backs and we can play probably 8 lineman. I do agree next week will tell us alot but I did hear Mitchell lost Pritchett against Valley after the 1st TD (thier best player)

That's the thing people seem to miss with the injuries. Sure, Stevens is really good but it's the line that makes them special. Most 1A and 2A schools don't have 8 linemen like that. I only dressed 7 linemen last night. I kept telling my kids this week it doesn't matter who the running back is, if you don't get penetration up front I could run wild on you. I probably could too in 5 yards bursts.

I’m getting use to this being wrong thing.....maybe ex wife #2 was right......but I didn’t shut up then so I won’t now.

I think the commodores have some stuff to figure out.....so I’m going to suggest the blackhawks as the new PLAC favorites.  they really handled Mitchell last night, and I find it likely that west wash won’t be able to overcome their losses

    When do them two play?

on the MSc side, btown seems to be on a path to run the table.

one thing I will take credit for is them panthers.  Sure paoli is down, but those boys are much improved

shocked about Clarksville and Pekin!  Good for the generals getting a win, but how bad is Pekin this year?

I’ll take others lead and not touch Salem with a 10 foot pole......I love rumors as much as the next guy, but the stuff I’ve heard can’t be true.....if it is, then a lot of folks need to lose their jobs

looking forward to the pick um’ hope my internet box keeps winking at me

I feel like you are over thinking this. WW is the best team in the PLAC and it's not close. They will go undefeated, win the conference, and sectional. I've not looked ahead to see who they could play in the regional so I won't comment on that.

To me the easy fix (that shouldn’t have to wait until next year) if a team goes go by 35+ run the clock and if a team cuts it to under 35 start stopping it again. That way the 2/100 that is possible can still happen.

The problem I have with this solution is that you used common sense to come up with it. This should never be tolerated when making decisions that affect lots of young people.

So which game was the toughest to pick this week?

For me it was the Salem/Silver Creek or Valley/Mitchell. Just think they are very close in talent. I finally went with the home team both games.

@JQWL you messed some people up when you recused yourself from the game involving your team! 😂😂

I saw that. Next time I'll make it more obvious. I don't like picking my game. I feel like Pete Rose or something.

  13. I don't know if anyone here follows North Harrison consistently. This is a quote from Coach WIlliamson following last Friday's game.

"I knew they would be good. They've got a lot of returning starters. They've got enough athletes, good athletes. They're two platoons. Most of their guys go one way. They wore us down a little. We had four players going both ways. That was a factor. They're just pretty good right now. Hats off to them."

Does North Harrison typically have 2 platoons? 4 two-way starters doesn't seem like a lot for a 3A school. But again, I don't know what they've been used to.
