  1. I'm going to say the left shoe. It looks like their next board meeting will be the 13th and they'll hire a football coach at that time. It lists the candidate on the agenda so I don't feel like I'm outing anyone here or breaking any forum rules. I have no doubt BNL has some quality coaches in their middle school and youth programs and I'm sure he will do very well at Eastern Greene.

I didn't realize a couple of statements from a month ago was stale.  I understand a lot has happened, but I'm sure the Big 8 schools were having these discussions internally when news broke out of Illinois.

Your statement about Washington and Lincoln getting new ADs is probably a huge factor.  Do these schools want to be in separate conferences for football and the rest of their sports?

Question here though (pardon me if this was covered): What happens if the proposal is accepted, but one schools opts out of the Big 8 or wants to leave the New PAC?  Tell City joining the PLAC would make logical sense if they feel they can't compete.

Tell City applied for the PLAC a few years back then withdrew their application. I think it centered around the PLAC not having swimming or tennis or something not being a conference sport. Tell City parents wanted the opportunity for their kids to be all-conference in their sport and wouldn't have it had they joined the PLAC.

Fair point. I guess I just think about the blowouts I have been a part of, in which the losing team did not stand a chance (and in some cases the head coach refused to have a running clock). However, your point is valid.  What incentive is there?  It is hard to get moody teenagers to play a clean game if they are getting their butts kicked.

If you're down 35 at the half and have kids you can't control, you have more problems than just worrying about a mercy rule.

I am not sure I understand what I am reading. Why would people on a high school football website advocate for schools getting rid of their football teams? Is there not a soccer website you can go on and talk about getting rid of football and the best way to slice oranges for the treat bags while also making sure to discourage masculinity for soccer players?

He does it just to get a response. He was gone for a few months. His mom must've put him back on her data plan.

Only boys varsity cross country.  The only fall sport offered to young men.  Why does Cannelton hate females?

I doubt Cannelton hates females, unless you know something I don't. If Cannelton offered girls Cross Country, they would offer 1 more sport for girls than boys. Title 9 works both ways.

Dablow AD at SC. Won't be the football coach anymore.

The area around SC seems to be growing and obviously the basketball team has been successful. Is this considered a good job or are they still trying to find their footing with football? 2017 was a good year for them but was that just an outlier?

  8. I feel like the number of assistant jobs posted on IFCA site are a reflection of there being a place to post assistant jobs. In the past most of the time, HC's recruited their area. Now Facebook and other sites allow for a much larger search area. Schools have always used lay coaches and will continue to because school faculties aren't comprised of coaches only. Speaking of which, if anyone is interested in coaching at Crawford County, let me know. I designed some sweet polos for next season.

  9. If anyone on here knows someone who will be looking for a teaching job soon and also wants to coach, we have a middle school computer science, math, and special education jobs open for next school year as well as an elementary position open. The insurance is great. I don't pay anything except a dollar for vision and a dollar for dental a year. The pay is pretty good as far as teaching jobs go in the area. I'm a lot of fun to be around too!!!
