Must be a new one because it doesn't look like the school logo on the Sheridan water tower. That is a Blackhawk.
There are actively like, 3 or 4 different logos that they use. The S with the claw is the logo that is on the official seal of the school. During my broadcasts, I don't use the logo with the claw either. I'll admit, it isn't my favorite.

Executive Committee meets today. Will sectional assignments be released today?
They were announced on the same day as the meeting in 2022. Hoping for the same today.

The success factor change was voted down, 1-17.

Again, looks expensive. Also IMHO that logo is dumb. There are better ways to represent a Blackhawk.
It's literally the school logo, but...

In 2022, the Executive Meeting was held May 3rd, with the alignments being announced later that day.
The next executive meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday. Look for them to be announced later that day.

So they recruit
LOL!!! Yes, because that's what "open enrollment" means. Dear God.
If Sheridan is recruiting, then they suck at it.On 4/20/2024 at 1:54 PM, Whitehat said:Many are saying this.

Carmel and a Westfield kid? I had no idea Sheridan got those kind of transfers.
Two great kids. In fact, one of the families brought multiple kids. One plays basketball. Set a new school record for threes in a game, as a Freshman.
The one from Westfield was at Sheridan for his Jr and Sr year. Again, phenomenal kid. According to him and his parents, he was struggling in such a large environment, and the "small school" feel helped tremendously in academics and his state of mind.1 hour ago, Muda69 said:I'm sure they were purely for academic reasons, or some family situation.
Are you suggesting otherwise, or is my sarcasm meter off?

What do Sheridan and Monroe Central return? That was a great sectional championship game last season.
Sheridan returns a lot of their OL, but will be looking for a new lead RB. Return QB. WR is another position that they will be looking for, as all WRs and TE were all Seniors. That being said, these positions were also question marks going into last season. Sheridan and Coach Wright are pretty good at finding talent for one season in the skill positions. Also, worth mentioning that Sheridan has open enrollment. Both WRs from last year were from outside of Sheridan. One from Carmel, one from Westfield. As Sheridan has a rather large student body of transfers, it'll be interesting to see who/if any choose to come play/learn at Sheridan next season.

Going to miss 1A! Wish we could have got 1 out of the 3 before leaving, but being there 3x in row was awesome. See if SA can get back soon to represent Adams County. Be nice to get Bellmont in 3A, AC in 2A, and SA in 1A to Indy the same year. I can dream!
I'm of the opinion that AC can really threaten 2A. Would be wild to see AC and Lutheran 4 straight years, but I honestly feel that those two could have been there in 2A in 2023.

None of this can really be determined until sectional alignments, like Farmer said. With Park Tudor, Covenant Christian, LCC, Adams Central, and Lutheran all gone from 1A, it'll be fun to see the refreshing amount of publics leading the fray.

Dumb? Agree. But it did garner three pages of conversation. So I guess it served it's purpose.
You notice the original poster hasn't said much during this "debate". Me thinks he saw the sentiment and bailed.

I don't recall a $3,000,00 jumbotron at a college/university being paid for with taxpayer funds. Are my local property taxes not enough to properly fund the local government schools, to support it's primary mission?
I do find humor in a comment you made in the past, about textbooks. The vast majority of schools are using funds to pay for these fields out of funding that cannot legally go toward salaries, textbooks, etc. These are called capital projects. The funding source of which is made up of property taxes. Rooftops to put it another way. Funding for salaries, textbooks, etc. comes from the state on a per student basis. This is why some schools are forced to utilize referendums. As with all governmental entities, all incoming money isn't just thrown into one massive pot and pulled from to pay whatever bill you desire. I think you would greatly enjoy searching through the Indiana Gateway. Go through some of these school districts financial forms, and see where the money is being allocated and going toward. I don't think you are a troll. However, I do believe your vitriol for this might be coming from a place of lack of education on the source material.

Yeah, myself and my fellow student athletes were scarred for life having to play on muddy football fields. And the trauma inflicted on the marching band was just..... well it was bad.
But hey the student manager who had to wash all those muddy uniforms on a Saturday morning ended up turning the experience into moola, he now runs a successful dry cleaning business.
Is this what your hatred is really about? Because you didn't get to play on it, you feel kids today shouldn't?
I believe in wanting BETTER for kids today than what I had it. Turf solves a lot of problems for some schools.Take Sheridan. By adding turf, not only does our football program get a top-notch field to play on, but the soccer games can all be moved to the turf as well. For the past forever, they have been playing soccer on a very outdated soccer field that is off-campus, raising concerns for student and fan safety. The old soccer field will now be town property, where the plan is to build a new larger capacity salt barn, which obviously benefits the community. Also, the band will get to utilize the new turf. Moving their practices from the blacktop parking lot where they have been since before the 00s, to a safer (and cooler) turf field.
Are some schools changing to turf just to spend extravagantly? Sure. However, to assume that EVERY school is doing that, is naive and ignorant.- 2

Yes, government bureaucracies need bean-counters. They tend to oppose the wild and extravagant spending like yourself and others champion.
First of all, you have no idea what wild and extravagant spending I champion. I'm a sitting Councilman, and absolutely understand how not to spend money. However, you didn't answer my question. Are you someone who just likes to make noise, or are you someone who actually wants to get involved and do your part for your school system?
Being hard-nosed about saving the taxpayers money is commendable. However, if you are only looking at this issue, as you have kind of been signaling, from a "how much does installation cost" aspect, then you are not looking at the bigger picture that A LOT of these school boards are. Is there frivolous spending in every school district? Absolutely. But again, your vehement hatred for anything turf screams more "I own stock in sod", than a true worrisome taxpayer.- 1

That is a huge amount of money, don't you think? Could buy a lot of textbooks with that.
Are you aware if they currently have a textbook shortage? With as concerned as you obviously are about taxpayer money, I certainly hope you have run for your local school board. We need bean-counters like you...

Is there ANY possible way for this to get back on topic, rather than Muda preaching how he doesn't like things? That'd be swell.

I'm assuming the process must have started a long time ago... that is a quick turnaround. Best of luck!
Sheridan's construction I don't believe begins until after track season, and their turf is slated to be installed by August 1. It's pretty crazy how quickly these things get done nowadays.

Is this really what some people in big schools worry about? Does it eat away at your person every time a 1A champion is crowned? I mean, find something worthwhile to worry about in life. Sheesh.
Oh, and they already do this.
Class 1A State Champion
Class 2A State Champion, etc.

A rating formula that accounts for W-L record, Opponent W-L record, SOS, and opponent SOS which includes out of state competition. It's essentially what CalPreps uses. Decide if you want to incorporate margin of victory or not, you can always cap it too.
I found Massey Ratings to be quite accurate this past football year. Their score predictions were also very accurate.
Basically, there are several ratings systems that have proven to be reliable barometers, but we just keep pretending like these things don't exist.

Brownsburg went undefeated in the toughest conference in the state yet drew a road playoff game against the #2 team in the state, in the first round no less.
Should tell you everything you need to know about the value of a conference championship under the current format. 2-7 Avon who finished dead last in said conference and also a 4 TD loser to Brownsburg drew another 2-7 team IN THE SAME SECTIONAL.
Make it make sense.
Well now we're having two different conversations. The Sectionals should have been seeded a long time ago. In 2024, it's embarrassing really, that the IHSAA continues to play dumb on this issue.
