You were 10 and don't remember the last Indiana High School Single Class Basketball Tournament ever conducted? What type of childhood did you have? Was the abuse really bad? It seems you never recovered (the affiliation with Purdont...)

    Yikes!

Personally, growing up in Sheridan, I can't tell you a single basketball game I attended until I was in high school in 2004.  No one cares about basketball, when your football program is what drives the school system.

Looking back now, I do kind of wish that I had at least seen a little bit of single-class basketball, but class system has never bothered me.

  2. I don't know how many people have looked at buying tickets to the Finals on Friday and Saturday, but these fees are outrageous.

3 tickets priced at $15 a piece, after fees, are $67.40!!!  I understand processing fees and convenience fees, but $5.60 per ticket, plus the same price for a processing fee is just obscene.  I hope the IHSAA has a better way to handle this.

ultimately no discussion on either of the 1a games. Does either underdog have a chance tonight?

This is why the games are played.  They absolutely have a chance.  I think both favorites, at least their fans anyway, have been very dismissive this week.  It's easier to be shocked, if you ignore who is in front of you.  Hoping for some real excitement tonight.

  4. As an owner of a streaming company, I still highly encourage everyone to attend the games.  The streaming is for people who can't attend.  Fortunately, I have been re-assured by Sheridan's AD that they have not seen a significant decline in attendance, since I started streaming around 5 years ago.  The relationship between myself and the school is absolutely a collaborative one.

I do believe that making the Semi-State PPV will drive more fans to the games tonight, than would have otherwise attended.  So if that is the end game intent, well done.

BTW,  as I was flipping through all the various regional games on Friday night via the IHSAA TV app on my Roku,  I noticed that the BSM "intro" video before the streaming actually started was the shortest and least obnoxious of all the other games that had such intro videos.   By far the longest and most obnoxious was the Eastern Hancock/South Montgomery game.  That thing was some kind of minute+ long "Glory Days" homage to EH football, along with strategic sponsor placement.

LOL!  Thanks I think?  Honestly, the lack of "intro" video is due to my lack of creating one.  I'd love to have a sport specific intro for every sport, but I don't have that kind of time.  I've thought about hiring it out though.

You think he outsmarted them when he did not use the timeouts before halftime when we could’ve had another chance at at least a field goal?

Legitimate gripe.  I'm not sure what coach was thinking, other than just trying to get to the locker room.

What about when we played 3 yards off the ball on defense in 3rd and more than 20 and got beat deep twice for TDs… one was at the end of the game when you should be playing prevent, nope just everyone in press man 3 yards off the ball. SMH

This wasn't on the coaching.  They were trying to move to a single-high safety defense, and ND came out in 5-wide.  The safety never stepped up to cover the open WR, LIKE HE WAS COACHED TO DO!

    1 hour ago, khayward said:

How about the first onside kick and we are not prepared and do not have the hands team on the field, luckily a lineman fell on it.

The first onside kick was not a given that it would happen.  There was no problem in lining up like they did.  The young man that jumped on the ball did exactly what he was coached to do.

    1 hour ago, khayward said:

in what way did he outsmart the other coach? Because we had a trick play that happened to work at the end of the game?

That trick play that you are trying to downplay here, is likely the difference in the outcome of that game.  I'm not sure what personal vendetta you have against Coach Wright, but most of your posts bagging on him have not exactly been from a place of deep analysis.

I'll be the first one to criticize the play-calling, coaching, etc., because that's my job.  However, outside of letting the clock run down in the 1st Half, Coach Wright didn't have very many moments of head-scratching on Friday.  Both teams were incredible.

Talking to guys at work I was curious if any team left runs an under center run heavy (80%+) style of offense. What types of offenses are remaining.

Sheridan is still very much run heavy. Coach Wright will never change that. Hopefully Semi-State against Lutheran proves to be a great game.

I’m back… fortunately we can watch replays of all the games khayward mentioned and more…. Looks to me like he either don’t know what he’s talking about or trying to lite a fire to get Sheridan motivated !

I did notice how much smaller Sheridan is from teams in the past but they do very well with what they have ! Also noticed in last week’s game that Monroe Centrals field has to be the bumpyest field I’ve ever seen !

Good luck Blackhawks… don’t wanna sse ND head coach win this game(or any game IMO ! ) !

Last week, they were in some sort of trance the entire 1st half.  On the scoreboard, the game looked close, but when you look at the stats, it tells a VERY different story.  That's okay though.  I have no problem with people believing that Sheridan is no good, especially going into this game.

I am Sheridan’s #1 fan this week because I want to listen to Daniel Bragg’s play-by-play commentary next week

I tried to be impartial when I first started broadcasting.  People asked why, since I obviously follow Sheridan Athletics.  However, if I am blessed enough to broadcast a Semi-state matchup of Sheridan and Lutheran, I will make every effort to be as impartial as possible.  I respect the teams and players.

Each of the 4 regional games this weekend is a rematch from last year.  When was the last time that happened, and will the results be the same?

    Harrell Predictions:

North Judson over Park Tudor, 35-28:  Was D.J. Gordon available for this game last year?  Can North Judson shut him down this year?

Adams Central over Carroll, 31-24:  What does Carroll have to do to pull off the upset?

Sheridan over North Decatur, 31-24:  Only prediction I disagree with.  Game is at Sheridan, so if you're traveling from Greensburg, make sure all your taillights work, your license plate is current and keep it under the speed limit once you hit the Sheridan line.

Lutheran over Providence, 38-24:  Providence is having a great year, but has their schedule prepared them for the Saints?

What exactly are you trying to imply here? That the Sheridan police actually do their jobs? Or that they target people from out of town?

Excuse my ignorance - and appreciate the informative post Titan32 - but can someone break it down simply for my technological ignorant brain ? What do I need to do in order to be able to watch the State Finals on my TV? (I understand I can watch it from my computer browser via IHSAATV.org)

If I have a smart-TV, is it as simple as accessing the web browser thru my TV and just doing it that way??

The absolute easiest way, in my opinion, for those that are technologically challenged, is to buy a Fire Stick or Roku. Download the IHSAAtv app and bam. It's on your TV.

Casting is simple, but your TV has to be right. Your phone has to be right. You have to know how to wireless connect them to each other, etc.

  12. NJ @ Triton - Give me NJ on the road. Should be a fun one, but I like North Judson.

Park Tudor @ NV - PT easily rolls.

    Carroll @ Tri-Central - running clock

AC @ MG - AC keeps rolling on, setting up the Game of the Year with Carroll?

Sheridan @ Monroe Central - running clock

ND @ Milan - Call me crazy, but I still go ND here.

Lutheran @ Cov Chr - running clock (although I'm hoping for a repeat of last week's Lutheran game)

    SV @ Providence -Prov rolls.

  13. While unfortunate for those that can't figure out how to view streamed content, this was a step that people should have seen coming with Bally's bankruptcy.

The only thing that I've never liked about the exclusivity of broadcasting the state finals, is that it is forcing private companies or even school broadcasts out.

If a school or broadcaster has been showing the entire season up to the state championship game, I'd like to see the IHSAA give those broadcasters an opportunity to do the game, ESPECIALLY if it's an educational broadcast team. Broadcasting a State Final in Lucas Oil Stadium is an experience that no student would forget.

Sheridan local government is buy fighting off a de-facto Westfield takeover:

    https://www.indystar.com/story/news/local/hamilton-county/westfield/2023/10/30/sheridan-fears-westfield-expansion-plan-annexation-plans-merger-adams-township/71301526007/

Sounds like Sheridan/Adams Township is set on becoming the new Westfield in the increasingly urban-sprawl known as Hamilton county.

Not that this has any relevance whatsoever here, but as a Town Councilman of Sheridan, the aim is to NOT become Westfield.  If we were okay to become a brand new sprawling metropolis, it would be much easier to just let Westfield takeover everything. We DON'T want that.

My nephew plays there now and his dad and another uncle and myself(none of us played at Sheridan) we all played college football and we always joke that the 3 of us could have coached last year's team to win that regional game against ND and we would have loved to see what the team could have done against Lutheran.

Man, if people could hear the conversations that I and Nick Doty have during commercial breaks of Sheridan games. We both love Coach Wright, but we know that opportunities are being missed over the now 5 years that we have been broadcasting the games.
