5A is on notice. That was a beat down of a monster program. Irish D was awesome. Shout out to my wrestlers: DGuhl on the Dline, Danny Brady w 2 picks, and Holden Parsons anchoring a decisive OLine w pass protection for days. Wow. Let’s get a ring.

I believe if I am not mistaken, when Cathedral was at 10th and Meridian, they played at what is now Kuntz Soccer Stadium across from the old Bush Stadium on 16th Street. @IndianaWrestlingGuy1 isn't that where your dad played when he was a stud defensive lineman?
Cathedral - Tech 2-0 for the Old City Title circa 1963ish.
6 hours ago, POTLUCK said:I will continue to make this argument about recruiting until something is done. The only reason open-enrollment exists is so the IHSAA can turn a blind eye to the recruiting that does go on, just like everything else they do not want to deal with. I have witnessed first hand middle school kids being talked to by private schools, and I can assure you it was not about their great academics. I know coaches at the 6A level who have varsity coaches that go to the middle school games to prevent stuff like that from happening.
Potluck - Sounds like you’re emotionally attached?? Every high school recruits no matter the P/P or public designate. This is the reason Roberto Cox and his merry men granted Open Enrollment in the IHSAA 7 years ago. Build a viable program, love some parents, find a rock Star coach, and they will come. In Avon’s case, you might even have some urban sprawl that marries up west side athletes with country farm boys making a perfect storm like Brownsburg. And, did you see Ben Davis’ record this year?? Sometimes a blind squirrel finds an acorn
If you want to pay $15k, Cathedral will take whoever you want to send from the west side. It’s a heck of a sacrifice, but he/she might have a chance cracking one of our extracurricular programs whether athletics or the arts. The competition is real though. We graduate 100% of our undergraduates and have 99% college placement. So, if you are not the 6% of Cathedral graduates that get athletic college scholarships, you might be the 30% that get academic college scholarships. Chances are you won’t get either, but you’ll certainly get a value system, a work ethic, and a diverse student body population that will make your child ready to tackle whatever they are dealt. Call it hegemony like my life coach, Muda69, likes to prognosticate. I prefer to call it sacrifice.
PS. Send Blaze Garcia, Schoef, Conley, or one of your other stud wrestlers our way. We are looking at a 3peat at Cathedral on the wrestling mats too. Just know most of the above grew up in programs outside Avon. How did they get there???

I wonder when the last time Trinity has played on grass? 7 years? Maybe it will be an advantage. Either way, the venue was rocking for the northside Catholic battle 3 weeks ago. I’m hopeful it remains that way for a Top 20 Max Preps program. I think we are 0-4 against them, but we’re due for an out of state W.
Here is Arlington as of 3 weeks ago:

It was Archbishop Charles Thompson Bobblehead night at Arlington tonight. Thank God he didn’t expel anyone from either high school for their sexuality. Could be really been detrimental to this amazing game if he was as egocentric and self promoting as he was with all the witch-hunt.
#22 Sowinski was great tonight. He moves the chains. Chatard D nutted up tonight though. Shutting down the Irish O inside the Red Zone 3 times in the first half. Irish score only 3 points. Kept the game close. Great game.

I will say Lysander is deafeningly quiet this week no matter what duplicate thread it might be on.

Looks like Cheek is the real deal at QB for the Trojans. His dad and uncles were some of the most amazing grade school players I’ve ever seen at St. Luke in the late 80s/early 90s. Uncle Matt Cheek was the shiftiest, meanest RB/OLB in the entire CYO circa 1987-89. At least 3 of the 4 boys switched to soccer in their high school days. Matt took Cathedral to her first Final 4 in soccer in 1991. Kyle’s dad, Scott, was late in his high school career when the family moved to Indy from North Carolina. Kyle’s grandma, Donna, worked as a religion teacher at Cathedral for a few years. I am super happy to see a Cheek on the gridiron late in his high school career! In my opinion, it was always their place.
Go Irish! Can’t wait for the game!

Tailgate starts at 5:30p. Come one, come all.
Also, big week for the Irish and Trojans in the NFL. Everyone must know it’s Cathedral - Chatard week. Terry McLaurin goes for 125 yards and a TD in his first NFL game last Sunday and Nick Martin gets a $33mm extension for the Texans!
Muda - where are you now with the hegemony whines?!?!

I thought Arlington’s stadium was dead. Did IPS actually pay to upgrade it?
Still a functioning IPS middle school. They’ve assured us the water, electricity and field conditions are adequate. Louisville Trinity coming to the home of the Golden Nights in 5 weeks. They’ll be in for a treat. Our only games on natural grass this season! Maybe the only natural grass in 4A-6A! Can’t wait for some grass stains!

That's pretty much all I was trying to say. I simply stated that some 6A teams "could", not "would" beat them. And I said some 5A teams "can" play with them. I didn't realize that by implying the Irish were beatable that there would be an all out assault on my post....................geeeeesh. I'm sorry to anyone I offended. I recant my statement. No one has a chance against the Irish.
But tell me this. What makes this years team any different from last years team? They've done a great job this year against the Cincinnati schools, I get it. But they did well last year too..........................then lost to Brownsburg by two scores, lost to Chatard, got blown out by Center Grove, then lost to Decatur Central.
Agree. If Cathedral loses to Chatard, the season is a loss unless we win the 5A title. .
Arlington HS at 7p Friday. Come see the Irish play the Trojans at this venue for the first time in 10 years. Archbishop Thompson will be there managing the sexuality of everyone in attendance. God bless his conflicted soul.

Man, what a game. The TE for Elder #11 is a head of the class. Going to Ohio State, he was the safety blanket and awesome.
Back and forth all game long. Irish couldn’t convert the first of Shiloh Means’ 2 interceptions for points and gave up a critical late first half touchdown after not running the clock late in the game with an effective ground game with RB Jake Langdon.
One of the greatest high school venues in America and fantastic hospitality. Cincinnati Elder parked one of our fan busses right next to the new $5m Kyle Rudolph Weight Center and included all of us in the camaraderie, including their player walk to the stadium after mass.
Considering our boys had a 2 hour delay on I-74 on the commute from a major crash, they played magically. 4 Hour bus ride with 30 minute warm-up could’ve crushed most teams. We were resilient. Love the mental toughness of this Irish squad.
Keep charging, lads. Destroy the official North side Archdiocesan school next week. Archbishop Thompson said they are the best kissers on the block....
-
Ps. Battle of the lines. An angry Elder O-Line vs an under rated Irish D line with good run stop. Can’t wait.
-
We’ll have a bus leaving at 2p with a bunch of parents. Elder has graciously invited us to join their tailgate.
“We will be hosting a tailgate party in the Schaeper Center Lot prior to the game 5PM - 6:30PM. We intend to serve some of Cincinnati's finest- LaRosas Pizza and Skyline Chili. Your fans are welcome to join us.” I believe this is the lot between Elder and the girls school Seton, right next to stadium. Show some Irish love
See you at the Pit. Go Irish!

Gross. No way this guy is a Cathedral supporter or grad. Please don’t engage with any of his garbage going forward, especially if you are a Cathedral fan. Thanks, boys. See you at the Pit!!

Just statin' the facts.
I know, I know. Lots of tears for a freshmen game yesterday. Loved the passion. Great tradition never graduates. Brutal trek upcoming too. Let’s go youngsters.

Elder should be the big test. Probably the favorite in the Cincy GCL this year.

Cathedral plays at that stadium Saturday night against Moeller. Warm the field up for the Hoosier state please.

Thanks! I wasn’t ripping BD. I was wondering if any of BD’s incredible talent had migrated farther west to Brownsburg or Avon. At 1-3, it was a very unusual start for the Giants. They always have my utmost respect, but I still think Avon/Browsburg are feeling some love at the expense of the Giants.
