  1. Heritage Hills is returning 90% of their offense and 8 starters on defense.  I think the motivation will be high next season.  The unforeseen but valuable lessons learned by having to play a ton of sophomores will help next year.

Big school division will have the favorite role in Gibson County, they very well could represent the south in LOS!!  I honestly feel the sleeper is Mt. Vernon.  Kids are believing in, and buying in to there philosophy.  Good young head coach and very talented D coordinator.  HH will be right there as well!  They could surprise next season for sure!!   Booneville????  Who knows.  I think they have some great young talent coming up but will they be varsity ready??  Time will tell.  Princeton will have a typical Princeton season, sorry.

Small school division will go through Dubois County next season, but no the school we are used to seeing on top!!  I think FP finds a way next season to win this division!! SR will be re-building unfortunately, but man what a ride they have taken us on these last few years!!  TC will be way down! No more Coach Lombardi talk from Perry county.  North Posey will be stronger.  The winner of the FP vs NP game will be the champ!!  Pike is Pike, take that as you want.  Wild card in this division is SS!  They have some good sophomores that will be juniors.  They also will return some key players.  Question is will they buy in and believe they can win instead of just compete!!

I would assume Chatard, Roncalli, and Brebeuf will all be in the same sectional and headed south.

Isn't Brebeuf in 3A or am I wrong??

    6A Center Grove over Merrillville

    5A Cathedral over Mishawaka

    4A Chatard over Marion

3A Gibson Southern over Mishawaka Marion

2A Evansville Mater Dei over Andrean

    1A Lutheran over LCC

You can go to the official IHSAA State Championship program (link provided) to count the Chatard roster 81 players listed. I am sure they would love to have 107 players on their Varsity roster though.

    https://www.ihsaa.org/portals/0/Flip Book/2020-21/fb/index.html

    Also 2020 6 classes 5 P/P State Champions, 2019 6 classes 3 P/P Champions, 2018 6 classes 1 P/P Champion last 3 years data.

Anomaly, outlier, something strange in the water........whatever 2018 was.

    ALSO 2010  5 classes 3 P/P champions  2011 5 classes 4 P/P  2012 5 classes 4 P/P 2013 5 classes 4 P/P     From 2010-2013 only 5 classes!!!                               2014 6 classes 3 P/P 2015 6 classes 2 P/P 2016 6 classes 3 P/P 2017 6 classes 3 P/P

Champions 8 previous years!  If my math skills are on point in these 8 years 26 of the possible 40 chance were won by P/P schools!  That's 65%!  I stand by my comments that the reality shouldn't be P/P schools dominating their respective classes year in and year out!

(Chatard) to field a team of 107 players (Max Preps stat)            Obviously you missed this piece of info, that I actually used Max Preps as a source!!!

    Nope had a great day.

Yes it is ignorant to expect Oldenberg Academy enrollment 219, Trader's Point Christian Academy enrollment 126, and Providence enrollment 385 to compete against Roncalli enrollment 1,188, Cathedral enrollment 1,099, and Bishop Chatard 714. Just as ignorant as saying Heritage Hills enrollment 601 should have to play in the same class as New Palestine enrollment 1,175, Center Grove enrollment 2,521, or Decatur Central enrollment 1,845. Chatard maybe rostered 80-81 players at most, on the field its 11 vs 11 though 50% of the roster didn't even cross the sideline except to head to and from the locker room. I doubt Evansville Memorial had more rostered players than Heritage Hills. The success factor will bump succesful teams up Public or P/P it needs tweaks but it works. I didn't see a problem with New Palestine comfortably beating Whiteland, Franklin, Cathedral, Bloomington South, or Valparaiso with roughly half the roster of all those teams last year. So c'mon man.

Sorry if I unintentionally made this a private vs public school thing and I apologize.  But to be clear I was in no way insinuating that HH complained about playing Chatard last year.  Fact is, at one time there was a pretty good tournament rivalry that HH and Chatard had, although it was pretty one sided, but no matter who won the game it was always a sloberknocker!!  In my earlier post my intention was to draw a comparison to this:  why is it okay and acceptable for PP school (Chatard) to field a team of 107 players (Max Preps stat) against a HH team of 50 (again Max Preps stat).  It would seem that in every class 1A-5A the PP schools usually have a far larger team by the numbers.  The advantage here is quite obvious, there are minimal two way players, and possibly even a completely separate special teams roster for the PP school, while in this particular comparison HH had 9-10 kids never ever leave the field.  War of attrition is usually won by the team with greater numbers.

I do not seem to think it outrageous or ignorant to say that the PP schools should have their own tournament.  Maybe the Oldenbergs and Trader's Points wouldn't stand a chance against the big boys.  Do you think a Tecumseh, or Pike Central would ever stand a chance against Covenant Christian or Chatard???  I think we all know the answer is a resounding NO!!  That's life, and sometimes it's hard and it sucks, but it's reality.  The reality should be this:  that five classes of football shouldn't be dominated year in and year out by PP schools, but instead have one PP school champion and 6 other public school class champions!

  5. 16 hours ago, FastpacedO said:

Almost as simple as moving Heritage Hills to 6A to duke it out with Ben Davis, Warren Central, Center Grove, and Carmel. Pretty simple. Pretty much the same ignorant thought process as expecting Oldenberg Academy, Providence, or Trader's Point Christian playing in a Class with Cathedral, Roncalli, or Chatard for a State Championship.

My my my did someone have a bad day or what??

So it's pretty ignorant for a public school, let's say Heritage Hills, to have a complaint having to play a PP school like Chatard in LOS last year.  I think the football rosters were something like HH 50 kids, Chatard 110 kids.  That's the same kind of disadvantage you allude to in your  ignorant response above mentioning Oldenburg Academy, Providence and anyone else playing Cathederal or whoever.  If I may......you are saying it's okay for public schools to compete with this obvious disadvantage of being outsized and outnumbered, but by golly no way a PP school, especially a smaller one at that, should have to play against a bigger and better roster.  C'mon man!!!

The thing about Chatard — and this has been true for many years — is that their attitude and philosophy are tailor-made for the big stage. They are the New England Patriots of Indiana High School Football. They will rarely beat you by out-athleting you. But they almost always beat you by maintaining their composure under pressure, not making mistakes, and being sound in all 3 phases. I understand that there have been a few times this year when the Trojans have been uncharacteristically generous with the penalty yardage. You can’t give away real estate against a team like Danville. But if they just play Trojan-ball, Chatard 28-14.

Does this mean they also play with under inflated footballs, tape practice sessions of their opponents, bend the rules slightly although often unnoticed and have a principal (team owner) who likes massages at questionable establishments too??????  If so Trojans 49  Danville 7 😅

Don't get off-track there fellas...this week/thread should be about the 2 teams remaining. We'll have plenty of time to discuss the JOKE of a sectional the IHSAA put together and how to fix it.

Ahh yes!!  Chatard wins in a dogfight!!

  8. I think Chatard wins this game, but it will be a physical one for sure.  3A can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Chatard will be gone for at least a couple years, maybe more!  Next will be re-alignment for the 3A tournament and Danville we go back north.  The south will be Tri-West and a PAC school in the semi state next year and so on and so on. (notice I didn't say which PAC school)

I also think that there will be 5 P/P schools that win the state title this year.  What a shame.......Surely I jest!!

I agree, but his arm will have to be the difference.  I don't think SR can push Danville around up front, which is something HH did last year.

Agree 100%, his arm will definitely be important in this one, and that could just be one or two big hitters that keeps Danville honest.  Last year HH use size and strength to push Danville around, this year SR will use speed, and constant misdirection against Danville!!  Gonna be a good one.

No offense my Patriot friend...but this QB throws WAY better than the one at HH last year.  They both are great runners but one (SR) is about Power and the other (HH) was about quickness and elusiveness.

You know I couldn't say anything bad about our QB ha, with that said I was simply meaning statistically they are comparable except for the TDs.  Also would like to add that the QB for SR could be the X factor Friday.  He is a LB that plays the QB position.  It is my opinion that he could simply "will' this team to victory with his tenacity and tough play.  One helluva a leader!!

Well said.  Unfamiliarity of the opponents with their system is a big reason why I think Southridge has a good chance to join the club of winning state after being bumped up due to success factor.

I believe that this was especially evident last week.  One team looked amazingly comfortable running up and down the field, while the other simply looked lost at times.

  11. 15 hours ago, Knightmare said:

619 of that is from one guy, Mr. Gasser, who also has 1031 rushing yards.  They are only completing 42% of their passes, which leads me to believe that the pass is a home run play for them given they have 17 TDs on 47 completions.  Which is why I posed the question: Are they too one dimensional?

I think when you look at this team, SR, THREE 1000 yard rusher does not make them one dimensional, it makes them very diverse in the running game.  To compare if I could to last year: HH had two 1000 yard rushers a handful of others that rushed for 250-700, and a QB that threw it very similar to the SR QB (# of TDs are quite different) HH handled Danville because they did what they did, ran the ball and played solid defense.  SR has an additional 1000 yard guy.  My thoughts are this, run the ball, play solid defense and the outcome very well could be the same, a trip to LOS.

I don't think Chatard looks unbeatable this year.  I haven't seen Danville since 2017, but having seen Southridge last week, I would not consider them to be huge underdogs at LOS.

Maybe they aren't the Chatard of 2019 but.......................the fact that they played Cathedral and scored 20 is enough for me!! Whomever plays Chatard at LOS Good Luck!!!

This was debated/confirmed last week from the IDOE website that the current enrollment would IN FACT have SR in 2A. Usually we hover around the cut-off mark in that regard.

I don't believe it's out of line to point out the fact a 2A enrollment school is having success in the 3A tournament (and it's also natural to wonder "what-if" ) . I think it's a pretty cool accomplishment.

Danville is good, no doubt about it.

This was exactly my point.  SR would be by enrollment the smallest 3A school but like the 7th largest 2A school. I said earlier that the Ridge is practically  there by enrollment already.  So this isn't some David versus Goliath phenomenon!!!  Fact is this:  Southridge is a good program, have been for sometime.  You all need to join the big school division in the conference!!  You all need to show up Friday a nd represent the PAC and beat Danville!!  Then you get the honor of Chatard at LOS..................I'll simply say good luck with that one!!

  14. This matchup will be an interesting one to say the least.  SR is a very good, a very disciplined team.  They are one of the best coached teams in southern Indiana and will be very prepared very this game.  With that said, Danville is legit!  This QB Danville has is Yoon from last week, but on another level.  He won't make the same mistakes.  They also run it very well.  I honestly think a deciding factor could be the 3+ hour bus ride.  If Danville comes out flat they could be in for a long night, because the Raiders are built to get a lead and then run the hell out of it!!  My heart says Raiders all the way to LOS but my brain says this WILL be their toughest opponent yet this season!!  Go Raiders

OMG! It is JUST LIKE LAST WEEK. Heritage Hills guys get on here and call out our opponent. As far as our camp is concerned,  Danville has strong players on both sides of the ball and great coaching. They have a great program and have been through the 3-A wars. Our heads are spinning. We should be playing WeBo anyway.  STUPID success point rule.

Quit freaking whining about success points.  Your enrollment is practically/if not 3A.  Jeez I have never seen anything like "We should be playing in 2A.....blah blah blah"  AND HH guys aren't on here calling out y our opponent, we are on here supporting you and backing you, because we know what we have seen from you and are familiar with Stink Town and Danville!!! Grow up

HH was good no doubt. But don't dismiss knocking out a team's "do everything" QB mid 2nd quarter - changed the course of that game last year. Also most of those dudes were "young bucks" compared to this year, another year older, etc...

Totally different game, circumstances, environment , etc this year. Let's not also forget SR is a "success factored" school punching above its weight all season.

Find the STC Hanner references funny....

Look, I am rooting big time for The Ridge, but this talk has got to stop.  Sounds like an excuse just in case things don't go well Saturday.

    SR 525 Students

    HH 601 Students

    Lawrenceburg 584

All seems pretty close in comparison when looking a enrollments for rural area 3A schools.

Went down to Shelby Trimmers to figure out what those records may be........

Going back, way back to 1973 - Stink Town is 4-9 vs PAC & SIAC teams.

Not good not good STC will agree, but the one thing I can guarantee...Is the Clown is undefeated vs all those schools in drinking!

Tiger BL's FOREVER - Pope Juice NEVER!

Stinky. Stink. Stink. 1. 2. 3. Had to go all the way back to '73

Just to find a team that you could beat from the PAC

4-9 sounds about right, when Ol' Stink Town messes with the southwest

The SIAC/PAC's trips to LOS prove that they're the best

No way the clown has a perfect record against these schools when it comes to  drinking

Folks down here are born with beers in their hands man, what are you thinking

I knew I could count on you to join the party!

Didn't think you would bring up an injury to one of the Yoonies.

Good thing for HH that happen or your trip to Lucas would have not happen.

There will be no tears come this Saturday 74!

Just Tiger BL's getting cracked open and a ton of cheers!

Stinky. Stink. Stink. 1.2.3. I was not bringing up a Yoonie injury

That game last year, the Pats cut thru you like warm butter

The ONLY way you could compete is if your QB was Jay Cutler

This year no different, will be much of the same

Raider Nation running past you like Bo in a Tecmo game

Have your BL's, drinky. drink. drink. as many as you please

Come Saturday night Gasser, Taylor and Springer will bring you to your knees

So to all of you from the "Fake Jungle" here's my advice

Get your basketball gear ready, your football season is on thin ice

The Raiders coming to the Stink Town since 1981 I believe?????

As most know STC will and can compete, the"Pocket" is not as good as the EIAC!

STC knows nothing about the Hannerville Raiders besides what he sees on the GRID

But these Stink Town Tigers have seen speed!! Mt. Healthy Owls, Indy Tech, BiG ReD & BlAcK, Chicken & Jo Joe's - just to name a few!!!!

Should be a good one in the "PIT" on a Saturday night! In the Jungle we will have Tiger BL's and celebrating all night!

    Tiger BL's FOREVER - Hanner Lite's NEVER!!!!

Stinky, Stink, Stink 1.2.3...with that statement I must disagree

The PAC is far better as far as I can see

HH came to town last year and took the Yoonies out

Southridge will do the same Saturday I have no doubt

PAC and the Raiders up to Indy one more year

Stinky Clown and the Burg going home in tears
