Not an expert on Chatard but MaxPreps lists 80 Senior through Sophomores. If we assume similar numbers in the freshman class that's 106 kids. And if half of those 700 kids are male, that's 30% of all boys playing football.

Thank you for that statement you beat me too it......Heritage Hills roster was 50 including three or four frosh.  So it would be safe to assume that a school that has +30% of the boys attending playing football does have a slight advantage due to numbers alone.  My lord think of the practices and the availability of getting quality reps in alone vs a school with barely enough to run 11 on 11.

There was one comment on here about controlling enrollment to stay in a certain class, example Evansville Mater Dei staying in 2A.  The rebuttal was that the school was not controlling enrollment to stay in a certain class but instead controlling enrollment because of the classroom size to adequately handle the number of students.  My thought would be this, if the school is truly not concerned about staying in any certain class, build a bigger school to accommodate the number of students wanting to come.  I mean if that truly is what the issue is (classroomss are only this big so only "x" amount can come), why not have a bigger school, and consequently move up in class size if necessary.  This is something public schools deal with yearly, shrinking/growing enrollment and the affects it has on the class in which you compete.

Lastly; if there is the perception that p/p schools have no advantage, and it's all just kids vs kids competing, let the best team win.  Then why not do what Tennessee has done, Illinois has done, countless other states have done.........a state tournament for the p/p schools only.  I mean seriously if there isn't an advantage one way or the other, then to me that's the most simple and logical solution.  There will never again be this debate then.......problem solved.

We just got our butt kicked by Chatard. Nobody cares about excuses.  My 12 year old son came to me during the game Friday and said, "do you realize that their team is 1/5 the size of our entire school?!?!?!"  My reply to him was that none of this matters.  Nobody cares about excuses.  Until Indiana changes the rules we just have to work harder and find a way to win.

All I know is Chatard had as many cheerleaders as we did football players!!!!  That in and of itself should be the proof that there are advantages!!

Better start by getting more participation from your student body.

Can't!!!!!!  They gotta go milk the cows, feed the hogs and split wood for the wood burning stove!!  No time for athletics!!

  3. After good nights sleep and time to reflect:

    1) Bishop Chatard was better than advertised!! Big, strong and fast!! Definitely the best team at LOS!! Great season, much respect, DESERVING state champs!! Now go win at least a regional in 2020!!! 😁

    2) HH Patriots have zero to hang there head about!! Amazing group of young men who played their tails off to the last whistle!! It was truly an honor watching them play and seeing them bring a community together like they did!! Outstanding job Patriots, great season!!

    3) Patriot Nation!!! Wow, what an amazing fan base!! The amount of support you showed for this team, the coaches and the school was simply amazing!! It truly shows what a special community we live in and are fortunate enough to raise kids in!! Awesome!

It may not have been the ending we’d hoped for in Lincoln City but the ride and accomplishments were simply amazing! Thanks Patriots!!

    Congrats Chatard!

  4. Chatard was great today!! Better team!! I’m not blaming anything or anybody!!  HH didnt score when they drove the ball deep!!   HH made mistakes today when they typically didn’t!! Their defense played great the 2nd half!!
ALL I said was the last score was bush league BS!! It wasn’t necessary. It was meant to make a team look bad!! If you take offense to that then you are not sports savy!!

Lots of Pats fans (and Memorial guy) on here crying about the late TD.

Here’s what’s Bush league - your quote from earlier this week about the Danville game...”The BIGGEST reason the game wasn’t 41-10 or worse was because of the stripes!!”

any Chatard fans on here saying it should have been 49-3 because of the refs?  Nope.

congrats Heritage Hills.  Great season.  Kids played hard and were well coached.

Not sure who you are or what you are talking about CLOWN!!!
What I said earlier was accurate and true!! The game at Danville should have been much more lopsided!! You can’t handle that sorry!!
The Chatard penalty’s tonight we’re legit!! The TD pass late wasn’t necessary nor needed!! It was cheap!!

Nuff said no one crying!!Just stating the obvious!! Simply put, that’s why everyone outside of IBC loathes then, BS like the last score!!

No complaints. As a Patriot, if you can't stop it you deserve whatever the opposing team serves. It was a loss, we'll move on and be better. No crying or excuses. Weight room next week.

C’mon man. The Patriots were lined up knowing with no one expecting them to throw up 25 with 1 to go!! Total bush league!! HH defense played a great 2nd half!!

I picked Danville 34-21. I’m not afraid to say that. But that prediction has absolutely nothing to do with this HH/Chatard game.

Yes you picked Danville all while trolling Chatard. Then you wanta talk about how “close” the game was for 3 quarters. Now you are on here trolling HH.  You want to say that HH can’t possibly compete with Chatard, hell you said we couldn’t beat Danville. Keep talking Warrior it’s becoming comical. Rest assured HH and their two way players will show up and leave everything on the field!! Rest assured Chatard and all of their kids will show up and leave everything on the field!! God willing everyone stays healthy and this game plays out like a classic!!

Enjoyed the HH-Danville game last week. For 3 quarters, it was very competitive and hard hitting (HH 12 - Danville 10 after 3) and not a dominating performance like some have said. HH did end up with 3 INTs. 1 was on a tipped pass, 1 was underthrown, and the other was a great play by #3 stepping in front of the WR. Overall, I think it was a pretty strong performance from a sophomore QB and this being his first year of varsity action. Danville’s D showed up to play. Couldn’t be more proud of their effort. The two late INT’s in the 4th qtr really did them in. The final score was not indicative of that game. That Danville team doesn’t lose very much to graduation. I look for them to quite possibly be right back in the same position they were this postseason. But credit to HH for capitalizing on the Danville turnovers. That’s what good teams do.

With that being said, I look for Chatard to use their passing game to set up their run game. Chatard’s OL matches up better size wise with HH. If Chatard has the success Danville did for the first half with their passing game, I believe HH will be in for a long afternoon. HH has to keep the ball away from the Chatard offense. You can say what you want about previous Chatard teams, but this one seems to have a different mentality. I just don’t see how HH stops them for 4 qtrs. I think Chatard ends up being too much for HH, who has about 8 or 9 guys who play both ways, and wins by 3 or 4 TDs. Great season from HH who maximized what they had with a senior class that stuck together and made it to the State Championship.

I just hope the officials that had the game at Danville last Friday are no where near LOS!!! The BIGGEST reason the game wasn’t 41-10 or worse was because of the stripes!! Go troll somewhere else!! Maybe you watched a different game Danville ran exactly 6 plays in the second half before it was a three score game!!! Danville is done, goodbye!!

Good luck Patriots!! Good luck Trojans!!

He has GOT to stay low.. was getting blown off the ball last week in the first half. They were talking about it on TV.

Agree and disagree with the blown off the ball thing.  Offensively he was blowing kids up, and that's a young kids mind set offensively I think, be aggressive and re-establish a new line of scrimmage.  Conversely, for what ever reason defensively I think lineman (him) sometimes stand up and try and find the football, which leads to being blocked easier (blown off the ball), coupled with he was getting double teamed every play.

You must remember one of those commentators was a pro Danville guy, everyone was getting blown off the ball, or hit hard, or obviously being held by HH, anything that made Danville look good.

  10. As I read this article I couldn't believe that anyone, especially football players, would do this to another peer specifically one with disabilities.  As a man that works daily with children with special needs this article angered me a little more.  The reason I isolated the football team above is because I feel the team, including managers, are family.  They go to school together, they work together, the eat together, they go to battle together, they are there for each other.....always and those managers are typically there every step of the way attending to the needs for the team.  It also bothers me that more young men didn't step in with the integrity of knowing right an wrong and actively stop individuals doing these behaviors.

With that said....it seems to me that there could be some serious legal problems for coaching staff, school administrators and players involved.  Not reporting these incidents to agencies is a serious legal problem.  Videoing a person's "area" is a serious legal problem, especially if those investigating decide to include intent to share!!  The idea that there was/possibly was a cover up is a serious legal problem!  I think it's safe to say people will pay dearly for these incidents.

I hope in the end this article, this situation, can be used a a serious talking point to educate and train players and coaches alike.  We can always assume that our teams act the way we want them too especially when no one is watching, but the reality is kids don't always make the best choices and peer pressure is a bi%#$  Supervision is of upmost priority , always when you are dealing with teenagers, especially those that need our attention and safe keeping the most!!  Learn from this terrible mistake is all I can say.

😂😂 sure Cathedral, and some of the 6A teams we’ve played might have something to say about that.

Check MishMarian last week, gave up 7 point on average all year and lost 45-0. Next.

Class size a hard hitting team does not make, for that matter neither does playing for a Catholic or Public school. JMO.

I know the score against Marian was lopsided, but they weren't at full strength were they??  I thought I was told that on a thread last week?? Not saying it makes up 45 points, but could those players have helped?

I can assure you everyone down here in the Land of Lincoln knows how good Chatard is!!

White got us a State Title in 2000 and win over Chatard at Franklin Central in 2004. Speaking of which, don't most Chatard fans believe the 2003 or 2004 teams were the best Trojan squads in the playoff era?

For full transparency, I believe there is a general consensus that 2002, 2000, 1999 and the 1980 were best? HH squads were tops. The 1999 roster was better than the 2000, but key injuries particularly to Jon Goldsberry (Purdue/NFL) and a TE, other RB, and a few others made meeting up with Roncalli impossible.

Luckily, HH is at as close to full strength as possible this year. And HH does definitely have one of the best LBing corps in the state. A lineman who would start on any 6A team, and 2-3 position players who should make all-state.

This is a physical HH team that has had defensive answers for passing teams. Again, all previous success against Chatard is to run at them and not allow their studs to flow. I expect a downhill attack and HH will take what it can get from special teams and the occasional Chatard mistake. Even the best teams make mistakes. It's the coaches and signal caller's jobs to try to exploit them.

I would concur that those teams you mentioned were special!!  What was the year when HH went for two to win it against Chatard in the semi state, 05 maybe???  That team was a special one too!!  But if you want to talk about GREAT teams that never got the chance to shine look at the 1988 team......future Colt great Ken Dilger was on that team!!  Can't remember the exact score but HH lost by 1,  maybe 21-20 to Evansville Memorial who was ranked #1 in the sectional final.  EM eventually lost in the semi state game 3-0!!  That HH team was LOADED with talent!!!

Sorry was feeling nostalgic for a moment!!

  13. I will start out by saying the two teams with the toughest draws and the toughest ROAD made it to LOS!!
Mad respect for Chatard, obviously they are the team to beat!!  Probably heavily favored too!!
Love my Patriots!! Cannot tell what a great group of young men they are!! This team has heart! This team believes!!

I believe too!! HH 22 BC 21 go for two to win it all!!

GS is just in a weird spot it seems.

I believe year in and year out they have a top 5 3A team....the only problem is that they face another top 5 team usually in sectional.

some teams have the proverbial “hump” to get over. Like linton and Semi state....Gibson Southn has one for elite 3A teams where it just seems to slip away.

2012- Loss to Chatard At Semi (Chatard wins title)

2013- loss to Brebeuf in semi (Brebeuf was runner up)

2014- only losses to HH (1 regular 1 sectional)...Heritage Hills fell in regionals

2015- loss to Chatard in semi (best team of GS ever.  Everyone agrees GS had the best team that year but Mother Nature wasn’t having it) Chatard wins state

    2016- loss to memorial

2017- loss to memorial (memorial state champs)

2018-loss to memorial (memorial runner up)

2019-loss to Heritage Hills......I guess we will find out how that plays out.

    of Harts 84-15 record....

No loss has come to a losing record team.

3 losses to eventual state champion

2 losses to eventual runner up

    2 losses to 6A schools

GS is so close yet so far at the same time.  I’m hoping that this offseason is similar to 2014/2015 Offseason where the team Is super hungry and digs in....for GS to win it all or make it to LOS, they no longer can be comfortable being just one of the top teams....they have to be THE top team

Correction HH fell in the semi state to eventual state champs 14-6

I don’t normally comment on opposing fan bases, much less student sections.   But, tonight I saw something I’ve never seen before and was embarrassed for the Warriors.  Once the game was out of hand, the SemiState trophy was sitting on the track by the fence nearest the Danville student section and I witnessed multiple Danville students spitting on the semi-state Trophy.   Eventually, a member of the Danville administration came and got the trophy and moved out of reach from the fans.  Really sad to see.  This game was won, once again, by halftime adjustments by the coaching staff.  Great job Patriots!   Regroup and prepare for a battle next round.

To add that same group booed the HH boys as the came on the field, then began to heckle, use language and taunt the Patriots!! I never once saw an administrator attempt to tone down those young people!! Maybe that’s acceptable in “the Ville” I can assure you such behavior would be nipped in the bud by HH staff!! To the boys’ credit they never looked, acknowledged or said a word!! Business as usual!!!

Will say, stripes did an awful job tonight all around!

But not one to blame a loss on stripes, respect to the pats for sure. Stand by our warriors.

Will say those pats play real physical and that fan base travels real well! was loud the entire game and intense atmosphere!

GO WARRIORS and regardless of what anyone says about our coach woods ill stand by him, came and brought the ville back and it has been special to see!

Not sure where or what you are referring too about the “stripes”. They definitely called penalties 3-1 maybe higher in favor of the home team!! Done with that!!

  17. Okay I am done driving and ready to comment on this game:

    1) Congrats HH! What an amazing group of you men! They work hard, they play with such poise and grit! Just a fun team to watch!!  Proud as hell!!

    2) Danville Warriors I tip my hat to you!! Players left it all on the field!! Very impressed with the way they approach the game!!

    3) Officials......F!!! That’s your grade tonight!! Pathetic all around for everyone!!! Nuff said!!

Lastly Patriot Nation!!! Helluva job traveling tonight!!! It definitely shows what a special community we live in!! Proud to be a Patriot!!!

  18. This is embarrassing!!! I’ve see more flags from this crew tonight then the entire tournament!!! Two long Patriot runs called back due to holding!! Two 3rd down passes the Warriors over threw both were called defensive holding (have not seen that call anywhere ALL year)

In short let the kids play and the officials observe!!! Semi state game should not be talking about officials
