So this, and the other camp outbreaks listed in the article are anomalies? https://www.macon.com/news/coronavirus/article244158667.html

Also, it's funny you point to a study in Iceland. I strongly suggest you look a little deeper into exactly what Iceland did because it would have never happened in the US; especially when it comes to surveillance and contact tracing.

Fine you caught me Irishman.. I will agree with you, we are all going to die eventually from covid. Im sorry for the front I tried to put on that used factual data to show you different over the last few weeks. Facts are way far inferior to opinions, it just took me a long time to see it.

Teachers turn??? lol so you have not been paying attention? Teachers shifted in just a matter of a few days classroom instruction to complete online learning. Your lack of respect for the profession is duly noted.

No link to this facebook petition? No details about what is unachievable?

Yeah these are unreal times. So, what happens when one of your kids gets sick and cannot go to school? As if you two are the only ones in that spot and that should be the driving force behind schools being open? Here's a hint, if the public schools in a given area do e learning again, private schools will be as well.

    Here's your link https://www.change.org/p/eric-j-holcomb-indiana-for-the-safe-return-to-schools?recruiter=909614038&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_abi&utm_term=psf_combo_share_initial&recruited_by_id=e70cf530-de31-11e8-ad1b-b11cd2c2db4a&utm_content=fht-23371659-en-us%3A1

I'm not sure why you think I have a lack of respect for teachers. I am just pointing out what I see. In fact I have a teaching degree, and I taught for years before I got into my profession now. You cant act like I'm being unfair. Teachers are demanding that they get to stay home. In my book they are essential workers. I am an essential worker and so is my wife. If I would have told my work that I would not deal with a covid + patient, they would have sent me packing. Why all of the sudden to teachers get to demand things, like staying at home. If we elearn my wife will have to drop hrs at work. Now she makes 43.76 an hour. How is that fair at all? Teachers demands will hurt families more and more as they get to sit home and get full pay.. petitiom says hazard pay?!?!  Hahaha.. why didn't I get that? My wife? We both cared for COVID positive patients. But they want it because they can't stay home. Its unreal.

  3. You cant have your cake and eat it too. It was first responders and nurses time to step up in all of this....and they did and are..  now its the teachers turns to be the heroes.. and they are complaining about not being able to be in the pj's all day at home in front of a computer.. guess I hit a nerve with a few of you.. but its all over facebook.. there is a petition on Facebook made by Indiana teachers with a long list of unacheivable demands. Now I understand its not all of them. But its a very loud group. My wife and I can not afford to elearn again. We both work full-time with jobs that we can not adjust our schedule.. so what now? Go to a private school? Idk it's unreal.

  4. Its been very interesting to watch teachers bashing parents on Facebook that support going back to school. Teachers were "devastated" in March. All I saw was "our kids were ripped away, it unfair." Now they are being asked to step up and help take precautions and help kids get back in the classroom and they are like "there's no way!, its not safe!" as said teacher goes to 4th of July parties, Meijer, out to eat... its sickening.

  5. From CDC numbers 152 deaths from people under 24 and ALL had serious underlying conditions.. if its the safety of the student athletes we are worried about. We could save more lives preaching to not text and drive rather than Covid. Schools have afforded kids parents the opportunity to not have to send there kids to school. So if grandma and grandpa are raising a kid.. they don't have to go to school or play. That argument is gone. Kids are out running around with zero restrictions right now in public. The only thing holding them accountable is sports. That is the only time most kids are getting screened and forced to distance. Why cut out the one thing that holds them accountable?.

@DannEllenwood sais it was the Dems fault that people were dying in nursing homes.

I'm not on here to get in between a HS aged feud between adults and a keyboard. ESPECIALLY a political one. New York, democratic or not, made a huge mistake on policy early on which cause a HUGE nursing home death rate. But I never brought anything political in my post. Some of you political storks need to be asymptomatic when it comes to your opinions, just stay away.

  7. Just an opinion, Our nursing homes in Indiana got slammed. And alot of our deaths (1220 out of 2567) were from these facilities. Currently our nursing homes have had 5581 patients test positive. Thats 299 facilities with at least 1 positive case and 199 facilities with atleast 1 death. Currently there are 239 positive cases in nursing homes and they added 54 deaths over the course of the the week before last week. Most of the new deaths that get added recently are nursing homes. I have back checked number of new deaths per day with numbers of nursing home deaths per week (since it only updates once a week) and they are very very close. When we were in our peak our nursing homes were getting ravaged. Now that 5581 nursing home patients have already been infected and 1220 died, our death rate will steady out. COVID went through our most vulnerable population in nursing homes already. Its fits the narrative. We all just heard of the 30 year old that died in texas. So when a 30 yr old dies, it makes national news.... We dont hear it alot do we?

As far as spring ball... it will be hard, but atleast it will give student athletes a chance to play. Even if its a shortened season. New Mexico announced they were doing it. Illinois is expected to announce a plan later this week. I still think we should play this fall and there is no reason that with some hoops and bumps here and there we get a season in, but spring is not out of the question.

You know, the athletes are actually only screened because they are playing. They are being held accountable to their health by there coaches. If it wasnt for sports would they be going through this type of screening and oversight by people....NOPE.... they would be hanging out with friends, going to the beach, mall, and everything else freely without being held accountable for something like football. Lets play.

I’d like to see things return to normal but there are way to many DannEllenwoods running around spiking the numbers for this to happen. Just like football, we need a team effort to make gains on the virus.

You think we havent made gains on this virus? Like a data not news agencies.

More teams better go “no huddle” this fall...

Why, so we can act like we care about the spread of something with our kids, but go to the store and work without regulation. Kids aren't dying.. in fact unless you are really unhealthy you aren't dying either. All these college teams finding players that have it asymptomatic means nothing more than the fact its running rampant and its not as dangerous as thought before. Sweden never locked down and they have numbers like a bad flu season. All this has become so political and everyone is terrified because of sensory overwhelm with the media. Proof is in the pudding.

I agree with MC on his bit about the numbers......I get the feeling state folks are being told from the highest offices, to "cherry pick" certain counties in states when they display the numbers.........could be very misleading, which in the end creates a false sense of security for the public.......which in turn can effect the football season

The truth is. This has been here a long time. Its been running rampant. At this point the chances of all of us having an exposure a very very high. Cdc numbers put IFR (infection fatality rate) at .26, and they even said that may be high. Go on the indiana covid site. All the information is there. Hospital admissions are WAY down. Covid census WAY down. Of our 2363 deaths 1200 are nursing home patients. Only 68 deaths in IN under 50. Under 40 only 23 deaths. This has not been the pandemic it was hyped to be. And its severity is disappearing. Look at italy. Their top infectious disease doctor said the case severity has change from a lion to a house cat. Let's go back to school and play ball.

  11. The viral load of this virus is slowing. We are showing more cases because we are testing more. Most of these athletes would never even know they were sick without mandating tests. They would just be spreading it at free will in their hometowns. Our testing is sky rocketing and so are our cases, but at a lower percentage of deaths and positive percentages. Just look it up.

Based on teams I saw last year and who is coming back, I think East Central vs. Mt. Vernon (Fortville) will be a great southern Semi-State.  Mooresville could knock of EC again though in sectional.

New Prairie vs. Leo for north SS, with Hobart as another contender.

I think those are top 6 contenders.

After what Hobart did to NP last year.. ill pick Hobart vs Leo in semi with NP being the maybe

  13. I found this thread true and funny.  Typical Andrean.

I think the region has 4 solid contenders this year

6a Merrillvillle- they bring alot back to a solid squad. Also getting 2 D1 transfers helps a bit.

5a Valpo... Same story. They bring alot back, plus the edition of the transfer qb from Jeff.

4a Hobart... Hobart brings back a lot from last years team. Couple D1 prospects, size, and speed. NO NEW TRANSFERS

2A Andrean... as is typical. Andrean lands the starting qb from Marian Catholic in Illinois. This along with the addition of another recruit in a 6'5" 315 OT from Mt Carmel should make them a formidable 2a team. They also bring back alot. Still early, may land more recruits..

    Thoughts?

RC is not considered a "Region" nor "Area" team.  "NWI?"  Perhaps

Very solid.  I like your approach to Hobart.  They need to prove it first.  And I like how you give credit to Lowell based on their historical strength, despite the early naysayers.  .  They've earned it.

Hahaha I think Lowell and Morton would have to prove it before Hobart..didn't they beat both of those teams soundly? And from what I understand they bring back there d1 talent and a 3yr qb?.. i mean I would hope my team stands a shot against them... hut I'm going with they run the ncc again.. and their sectional.

I assure you, I am not a “typical” official ... whatever that is. But that is neither here nor there. It’s hard to interpret your response as anything other than throwing in the towel.

In the final analysis, though, I think you’re right about at least one thing. There really is no obviously correct answer to many of these questions. The difference between us is that I care about the answers, and you don’t.

I'm using pure data and hands on analysis to give answers. Has anyone here besides me cared for a covid patient as a first responder? Has anyone else's wife worked on a covid floor at a hospital this whole time? Has anyone here besides me had covid? I'm no expert by any means, even though it looks as it doesn't take much to call yourself an expert these days, but I am good at my job and so is my wife.. throwing in the towel... no. Giving up trying to explain actual statistics to people that don't want to hear about it...yes
