Is this week finally the week? This is ridiculous, we’re closer to Valentines Day than Thanksgiving. There’s no reason to wait two months to release all state teams.

Calm down man! Nothing is moving at the pace we want right now.  Your kid will get announced soon.

Probably works the same way, pending local guidelines, that siblings/family run into.  A kid in quarantine for being in close-contact proximity to a positive test does not necessarily have their siblings, or other family members having to quarantine.  I don't know the specifics of the Southwood situation, but if they are quarantining due to result of close-contact proximity to a positive test ... e.g., a teacher in a classroom ... then their opponents are, currently, treated like their siblings and are not subject to quarantine.  Unless the Southwood players now test positive.

Just ran through this scenario with my son and his team over the last couple of weeks.  He and his teammates were in close-contact proximity with someone who tested positive.  Pretty much whole team went on quarantine.  We quarantined him in the house, but siblings were still OK to go to classes.  He tested negative and came off of quarantine today.  He was like a puppy that slipped out of his leash when he got outside today. 😃

I follow everything you are saying...It just seems like a huge amount gray area.  It again has been left to local officials, so I see where one district may have a different policy than another.

Current situation that I am familiar with has a teacher quarantined for 24 days.  He had a family member test positive within the same household.  So he is 14 days + 10 days because he is a teacher.  So the I guess Valley would need to access the situation if a Soutwood player comes back positive.  I just hope it works in favor of both teams.

Not sure why LaVille has been so weak at O-Line for such a long time .... maybe coach Hostrawser should look into making some changes to sharpen things up and get better quality and execution out of them.  Is it the scheme?? Are they not properly prepared??  Do the coaches just rely on the skilled guys??  Whatever it is, if they could figure it out, I think they would be pretty darn good!

IMO, I did not think that LaVille's O-line stuck out as being the weak link in the game against Cass last year.  They threw a poor ball deep in their territory that was picked for a TD that really started the downward slide.  Up till that point they were playing tough and never gave up.  I don't know that they had a good scheme to defend the wing-t and the RPO offensive attack.  Not to mention, Cass just had more weapons..

  4. Can Delphi defend trap and bucksweep?  Pioneer will not make many mistakes on offense.

    Pioneer by 3 TD's

Laville's one loss to NJ shocks me.  Maybe a Covid thing.  Tough kids and coached well.  Cass is down and seems to have packed it in with their effort against TL.

    Laville by 4 TD's

Bremen is superior up front and has power and speed that cannot be matched by Rochester.

    Bremen by 2 TD's

Manchester has not been the same without #10 Ream at RB.  Wabash in close one.

    Wabash by 1 TD

Not really excited,  just offering congratulations where I think it is due. They have played almost all of those same 3A, 2A, & 1A schools the past two seasons and went 0-20.   And I do scoff at the Hot Dogs at weakening their non-conference schedule by adding Clinton Central/Clinton Prairie where the used to play the likes of Western, Tipton,  Twin Lakes, and Logansport.

What exactly to you is a "token victory" when it comes to Indiana High School football,  Punttheball?

A token victory for a 4A, IMO, would be 1A and 2A games.  These are lose, lose situations for schools that have double and three times the enrollments of their opponents.  I get that many teams have token victories, but I am not congratulating any coach or team for finally having a winning record with the schedule that Frankfort plays.

Congrats to the Frankfort Hot Dogs for having their first winning regular season (5-4) since 2009.

Let's not get too excited.  They still do not have one 4A school on their regular season schedule.  They lost to 1A Clinton Central and play a 3A, 2A, and 1A schedule as a 4A.  I guess we are into token victories.  This is something I feel that Muda69 would scoff at not celebrate?

I hope Sagarin shows big adjustments for SIAC and SAC teams after Round 1 as a few teams finally play out of conference.

It should.....and fast.  I think we all know that both Dwenger and Evansville Central are far from their current No. 20 Sagarin Rating in their respective classes....more like Top 5 in each (I could see Central steamrolling 4A).

The weird thing is that, at times, SAC statewide rankings shot high up the charts but the SIAC’s never did.

Either way, both conference’s teams rankings are going to be jumping all over the place as of early Saturday AM.  I think they will stabilize pretty quickly.

Have I mentioned, as a fan,  how much I hate closed conferences?

It is statements like these that discredit the idea of using Sagarin Ratings as a method for seeding sectionals.  The Sagarin ratings are either accurate or they are not.  After nine games, there should not be holes in the rates or the method.  I am not making an argument for the ratings, but many on this site do.  So, how does a few out of conference games make "big adjustments"?

I was told it was indeed fewest points allowed that broke the tie. I know a few years ago it was point differential among the tying teams. That made more sense in opinion. At this point, it’s all about getting ready for the postseason anyways so who cares who you play.

If you ever get to play for the conference championship, it will matter.

Eddie Jackson was picked by the Bears in the 4th round from Alabama coming off losing SR due to knee injury....

    He is working out alright

I feel that there is a difference between a 3rd round reach and a 4th round reach. A 3rd rounder at that point could be a real contributor early.  I'm not sure that the Colts could have found that kid still sitting their in the 5th round.  It is all just blow right now, as it will take several years to all play out.

I am not shocked by the pick though.  The Colts obviously are not happy with the development of Malik Hooker.

  10. I am disappointed in our round three selection.  A guy coming off an ACL is not exactly a great pick.  Only time will tell, but it is often said that players never get that spark back after that type of injury.  Just too many questions for that early in the draft.  Really wanted the receiver out of Texas at that point.  Scratching my head on the deal.  We also could have improved the OL at 75 or even 85.  With the amount of talent that was still there in the 2nd round, I would have tried to move into round two for as many picks as I could get.

The article reads as if the kids are doing it all on their own and not on school property.  What is wrong with that?  I understand the sympathy to the pandemic and the social distancing, but how could a coach be fired for his players working out on their own with no guidance from him?

Read it again.  The players are in constant contact with the head coach.  IMO, he should be encouraging them to stop.  Remember this is my opinion, so with that a quarter you can buy a piece of gum.

I don't see his run-heavy offense working in the DAC.  The entire scheme relies on washing down the front and getting the edge - DAC defenders are too big and too fast.  Sharpe's Slicers had their success running trap right down the pipe, confusing teenagers with misdirection and fake hand-offs.  Time will tell...

Valpo did exactly that to the Dac this year.  Valpo ran counter with a kick or a log on the DE according to how he reacted.  It can be done.  Center Grove gets the edge just fine in the MIC.  There seems to be some really big and fast players in the MIC too.  I think it can be done.
