That's the not issue. You don't takes off to add these kids on. You start with these kids on. Meeting starts, Hey this kid is playing in the Big 10. Hes on the team, 49 to go.  Would we even be having this conversation if they didn't play in Hammond and Gary. If they were at Andrean or Merrillville I'm betting they were Top 50 kids.

It didn't take long for the conversation to go there.  Do you even know if the Coach nominated him for the Top 5 Team?

If his coach did not nominate him for top 50, he is not considered for the award.  Was he nominated? Did he make the Senior Class All-State?

How are division 1 players left off the top 50 list? I understand these meetings have 10 coaches in them and they promote their guys, but does the meeting not start by automatically saying these kids have d1 offers, they are top 50? Coaches that are paid for a living to coach football think a kid is good enough, so how come high school coaches don't agree?

De'Eric Mister from Gary West Side is 6'8 and committed to Minnesota and not top 50.

Any other players d1 and not top 50?

It looks like he made the 4A Senior All-State team.  As I state before, he may not have been nominated by his own coach for top 50.  If he was, it is a mystery.

IF I was playing for a sectional title or beyond, even if vastly overmatched, I would personally prefer to get all the reps and experience possible in a game of that magnitude without speeding game up with running clock. Any thoughts?

I get your point, but there are plenty of lopsided sectional finals because of a favorable draw on one side of the bracket.  There are some teams that do not take their foot off the gas.  It is their choice, so I'm not debating that.  But being on the wrong side of a beat down that won't stop does not help your program. IMO

The Rochester announcers didn't say anything.  LCC was at the 1 yard line and scored.  Most teams would have done the same thing.  I can't remember how much time was left when they scored.  It was 17-8 and if Rochester got the ball back they might have scored.  I remember when LCC played West Lafayette a few years ago and WL threw a 40 yard pass with 2 minutes left in the game when they were up 42-0.  Nobody said anything.  The LCC players and coaches should have to attend 7:30am Mass every Sunday for the next year for doing this.  I hope they don't get kicked out of the IHSAA.

I can tell you that no one from Rochester complained.  It was a great game. Rochester made a huge mistake on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter and failed to execute on special teams.  Congrats LCC.

Agree, the IHSAA really screwed the WRC when it came to new sectional alignments.  By my count, the WRC went 6-16 outside of games vs WRC foes.  I am not sure I see anything any better next year.  When was the last time we had no WRC teams playing on sectional championship Friday?  Maybe that shows how weak the WRC was this year?  Or maybe that shows just how much of a screwing the WRC got from the IHSAA?

Exactly how did they get screwed?  I would not want a sectional made up of conference opponents.  I think it was cool that Rochester got to play Seeger for the first time.  The travel sucked, but it was a great experience for the team, and it gave two teams a chance to match their conferences against each other.

If that's "good ball" id hate to see the rest of the TRC play.

SW was playing some good football towards the end of the offensively.  I felt they struggled on defense early in the year.  AC has a very good team.  It sounded like SW struggled to hold onto the ball early and dug themselves a very big hole.  Not many teams have an answer when that happens early.  The game plan goes out the door. Congrats on the win!

Anyone at the Southwood - Tippy Valley game? Questions are being raised regarding the field goal attempt at the end - ruled a miss by the official under the upright.

Talked to a Valley player that said it was a miss.  What are you searching for?

Again...this is a blog.  I have said numerous times.....

Contact Commissioner Faulkens and get a definitive answer!

I am not here to haggle over minutia!  Perhaps you are

I guess it is your matter of the fact attitude that you are right and everyone else is wrong! A bulletin is issued contradicting your statements and your reply is "contact the commissioner". I thought that maybe you had an issued bulletin that outdates the one that has been discussed in this thread.

    That is correct.

The Team Issue balls are NOT approved for use in the playoffs.  Only the Wilson GST.  If you do not provide that FB.  Then the other team's Wilson GST will be used for the contest by BOTH teams.  There is also no guarantee that YOU will have footballs rotated in, as you are at the whim of the team with the approved footballs to provide to you "additional" balls.

A report will be submitted to the IHSAA office of the Team Issue FB situation....and that is that.

Again.  You can confirm this information with an email or call to Commissioner Faulkens.

From the IHSAA 2021-22 Fall Bulletin:

Balls – Sectional – Each school is encouraged to use an official Wilson football (models 1003 GST, 1001 or 1005 with the NFHS authenticating mark).
Regionals & Semi-States– Schools must use an official Wilson football as described above. The IHSAA will supply two (2) Wilson 1003 GST footballs. If either team desires to use another official Wilson ball (1001 or 1005 with the NFHS authenticating mark), they may do so, provided they furnish the ball. The IHSAA will supply all game balls at Lucas Oil Stadium.
State Finals - IHSAA will provide all game balls. No school footballs will be used during State Finals games.

There is nothing in this bulletin that supports your stance.  And I have never coached in a game where our team did not use our own balls. Where is your support of your stance on game balls.

Crushing losses, year after year.  The large majority of WLs games are unwatchable and uncompetitive.  Some are downright scary when you look at the roster imbalance and the huge physicality advantage WL has.

In 2019, Cass played them Twice in a three week spam.  It was a meat grinder for Cass. They played Western, WL, HH, WL, and Pioneer in a 5 week run.  Western has no business in the Hoosier if they ever want to be player in 4a.

I don’t know if it matters, but it looks like Southridge would have bumped regardless of success due to enrollment. This would leave Pioneer as the only team in the state affected by the 2020 points.

As others have pointed out the IHSAA needs to provide an explanation on what’s going on. If there is this much confusion why not just wipe the success factor slate clean and restart with this cycle to get aligned?

Way to logical my friend! You are way ahead of your time as it relates to IHSAA business.

I was under the impression that Pioneer and Southridge were in the same boat in regards to SF points? (Both winning a regional in 2020 and nothing in 2021). We were told, regardless of what happened with our enrollment, that we were remaining up due to SF.

    Guess they changed their mind?

What I am hearing, is the sectional win by LCC kept them up!

That's possible, but given that, LCC earned:

    • 2019 won state in 1A
    • 2020 won regional in 1A
    • 2021 bumped to 2A ... won sectional in 2A

If 2020 didn't count for anything, then LCC would have had four points in 1A in 2019 and no points in 2020 and would not have met the threshold for being bumped to 2A.  Nonetheless, they were bumped to 2A after the 2020 season.  They won a sectional in 2021 in 2A, garnering only a single point, but still remain in 2A.  Somehow, 2020 counted ... at least for some teams.  And just to confuse matters more, look at Chatard:

    • 2019 won state in 3A
    • 2020 won state in 3A
    • 2021 bumped to 4A ... lost in sectional championship

Chatard, like Pioneer, also went down to their original class.  And given that, like LCC, Chatard got bumped up to the next higher class on reaching the 6+ points to move up a class, and these came in 2020, it would suggest that 2020 had to count for something otherwise LCC and Chatard would not have garnered enough points to move up a class.

Given the similarities in LCC and Chatard, the 2019/2020 seasons to bump up a class, and the similarities in Chatard and Pioneer, neither won a sectional in 2021, the only way I can see the numbers working to justify the bumps for LCC and Chatard, the drops for Chatard and Pioneer, and the remainder in 2A for LCC is a cockeyed approach to the application of the 2021 season and treating the outcome as a "double season."  In essence, Pioneer and Chatard scored zero points in 2021, times 2, gives them zero points for assessment.  LCC gets the 1 point in 2A, which normally would not be enough to stay up in an assessment period, but multiplied by 2 gives them 2 points and they stay in 2A.

Wouldn't it be great if the IHSAA issued a statement explaining the situation?  Obviously nobody knows why Pioneer is now down along with Chatard.  It also seems that no one has a clue as to why LCC is up in 2A.  Heck, Pioneer has been in 2A, back down to 1A, aligned in Sectional 34 in 2A, and the realigned into a 1A sectional...all in a 4 week span. So does the IHSAA even know why?
