Was kind of hoping they would keep Cass at #1 after taking their first loss to a spectacular WL team. Pioneer's only loss is to Cass in week one, and Webo's only loss is to a team Cass beat by a couple touchdowns. At the end of the day, everyone makes it on Selection Sunday and I can't wait for late October and November football!

I haven't seen this much delusion since puff thought North Daviess could run the ball on LCC in 2009. Cass scored 28 on Pioneer, I can tell you Pioneer and WL defensively are not on the same playing field. If Cass scores 28 it'll be in garbage time against WL 3rd string.
I don't know how delusional it is. Pioneer was week 1. The offense has improved since then. Also I think RC could have put 21 on WL in their game without a few mistakes. I think Cass has a more explosive offense than them. So in my opinion 28 isn't that far fetched. I also said it would be 21-28 points 28 being Cass at its best.

What’s the thoughts about Friday’s match up of #1s with West Lafayette coming to Walton to take on Cass? Does anybody think Cass keeps it close or is it over before the start?
I have no doubt Cass puts 21-28 points on the board. Will it be enough? Probably not a chance. WL has so many weapons on offense. WL is also one of the few teams in the conference that probably doesn't have 6-7 guys playing both ways the whole game. The first half will be interesting to watch. I think the Kings wear down after that. 49-21

My favorite part about this. Your totally right on LCC. Frontier just beat Clinton Central, and is still ranked behind them. That is why I feel Sagarin can never be used to decide a "tie" if we seeded Sectionals.
I wouldn't want to play LCC, I have, I will again, but I wouldn't want to.
Another example is Pioneer having a higher ranking than Cass in their Sectional. Definitely has many flaws to it.

WL is clear #1 in the West.
Big week to determine seeding of week 9
NEXT 2 WEEKS:
Friday, Sep. 27 Central Catholic at Rensselaer ©, 8 pm Northwestern at Tipton ©, 7 pm Twin Lakes at Hamilton Heights, 7:30 pm West Lafayette at Benton Central ©, 7 pm Western at Cass ©, 7 pm Friday, Oct. 4 Hamilton Heights at Tipton ©, 7 pm Central Catholic at Twin Lakes ©, 7 pm Rensselaer at Benton Central ©, 8 pm West Lafayette at Cass, 7 pm Western at Northwestern ©, 7 pm RCHS beats LCC this week, that puts the Bombers in the drivers seat for playing in the 3rd/4th place game week 9
On the EAST SIDE: HUGE MATCHUP THIS WEEK
Cass speed and skill vs Westerns Power and sprinkled in speed. If Cass wins, that puts them in driver's seat for #1 slot on East division, if that plays out that way, then Cass gets to play WL week 7 and week 9
Western finishes their regular season with all EAST division teams starting with Cass.
Fun time of year and Sectional draw looms large for all coming in 2 Sundays!!!
Kind of disappointed the Kings and Bombers won't get to matchup in the regular season. The two have had some great games come down to the wire the last couple of years. Both are playing great football right now. I think it was mentioned LCC was the 2-3 best team in small class football right now. These might be the two teams in front of them right now. Fingers crossed for a regional matchup. Both have some really good contenders in their sectional also.
I know anything can happen come playoff time, but I think there's a pretty good chance we might see 1A, 2A, and 3A north represented by a hoosier conference team. Hats off to the programs and coaches for a great season so far. Very competitive every week (minus maybe WL games).
I think this conference is proof that the everyone making the tournament style of playoffs is beautiful. Test yourself with some really good programs from all different classes so your ready for anything come playoff time. Always gives you a chance to compete with very skilled teams. I know Cass wouldn't have played Eastbrook as well as they did in the sectional championship had it not been for the schedule they played last year.

Can you define “pound for pound?”
Is there some sort of formula?
Your best 11 vs. my best 11 for 48 minutes

Interesting to see Western Boone at 3 and Rensselaer at 4 with Webo's one loss coming to a team RC beat by two touchdowns. There are gonna be some good matchups in the North for 2A football come playoff time!

Thanks for all the input @olinecoach, @XStar, and @bittergymteacher. Totally agree with you about Cass, they have some stud play makers. Then the Bombers go and beat Western, Will be very interesting to see what happens in 2A North come playoff time. Heck their is a chance Eastbrook doesn't make it out of their sectional with Tipton in it.
Eastbrook and Tipton would be a great matchup. Both graduated a lot of good players. Both have had good players step up and play well. Both Cass and Pioneer have improved greatly since week 1. From my understanding, Pionner had some injured lineman week 1. RC has had some nice wins and will be a great matchup for Andrean in their sectional. Can't wait to see how the next couple of weeks go for all teams. November is just around the corner!

I think Ezra Lewellen is a QB. He threw a couple nice passes from what I saw. Yes, Hes shorter then what most prefer at QB but his shiftyness and his vision when running the ball is superb.
I agree their depth has taken big hits to graduation the last two years. Brenton Mersch and Diego Badallo can be factors in the receiving game. James is a pretty good TE. Ezra and Addai are electric in the run game. Von Toble and Wireman are good guys in supporting roles. Their OL took a hit with Schnurpel going down. Gaumer missing 2 1/2 games isn't good either. I think if Gaumer can come back and the OLINE doesnt take anymore hits they'll be fine. They have some unproven juniors who im sure could be good enough to fill in at other positions if someone needs a break or is banged up and can only go 1 way.
I think itll be a tight game and exciting.
Well said here. Ezra Lewellen should be the QB. Cass looked like they were going to run away with the game when Pioneer made the QB switch and it gave them new life. Great runner and the combination of him and his brother in the option gives defenses fits. Being shorter shouldn't be a problem with 99% of Pioneer's pass plays being roll outs. I like Pioneer in this one but Laville has sounded impressive so far this year, just don't know a whole lot about them other than whats been posted here. Games are won and lost by turnovers. Can't wait to see how this one plays out. Sectional 34 is well represented this year. Friday night can't come soon enough boys!

Congrats to Lewis Cass head coach Jeff Phillips and the rest of the Kings as they earned Indianapolis Colts Coach of the Week honors from the entire state!!
Love what Coach Phillips and the rest of the staff is doing up in Walton, IN. Stay healthy and consistently get better every week and these Cass boys will make a lot of noise come November in the North

1A: North Vermillion over South Adams
Pioneer just lost week 1 to Lewis Cass who is in their sectional. Pioneer made some mistakes and will get better, but Cass didn't come close to playing a great game either. And lets not forget Andrean and Luers are back down in 2A which will be a Regional and Semi-State matchup against some very respectable programs. Not saying Pioneer can't do it, but 2A is tough this year and Pioneer isn't near as talented as they were last year across the boards.

Culver over North Judson
South Central over Triton
Knox over Winamac
Contrary to popular belief, I think Cass will have the two best football players (not athletes) on the field come Friday night when they square off with Pioneer. If he plays, The Eurit kid is a tough and athletic runner. Good made some incredible plays at wideout last Friday. I can't wait for the matchup between him and one of the Lewellen boys at Corner. Even though I picked Cass to win, whoever wins the turnover battle will come out of this as the Sectional 34 front-runner. Tomorrow night can't come soon enough!

IFCA COACHES POLL WEEK 8

I have some buddies that I play with from Illinois, and from what I have gathered from them I would assume it equates to a big 4A small 5A Indiana school probably.
