Does anyone know what formation Chesterton runs on offense and defense? All that I've heard is that they have a pretty good QB.

Watching some highlights on YouTube and it looks like multiple formations on offense all from the gun.  They have 6’6” WR Warren who is pretty athletic and fast for his size.  Not sure what they run on defense.

Went and checked out the jays\cavs.

Very impressed with Trey Hampton...his throwing motion looks so much better this year.

Eli and JJ Blount to the outside is tough. Super quick. Cheyenne Allen was the bruiser inside...

Team was shaky on D for the first half.. Then settled down.

Culver is young, only 1 senior.. Bunch of juniors and sophs...will be up and down this year (should be good next year)

    Lastly

How about them Caston Comets? Congrats on breaking the streak!!

Bluejays offensive explosion is a sign of good things to come this season.

  3. Week 1 in the best small conference in all of Indiana gets me pumped up!  The question for me this season is which of these teams will go all the way to Lucas Oil?  Knox comes into the season ranked in 3A.  Pioneer and LaVille ranked in 2A. Good luck to all coaches, players, and fans as you support your team(s) this season.

    JUDSON

    knox

    Laville

    Pioneer

    WC

    SCUM

  4. I’m a coach in my 30’s.  Not worried about the kids.  Not worried about myself.  However, I am worried for the lunch ladies, the janitors, the teachers, and the high-risk population.  I am concerned that I could be asymptomatic and I could then infect someone that I love and care about.  Do I wear a mask when no one else is going to wear a mask?  Does that even do anything?

  5. I hate to get too excited about the upcoming 1A season, but the truth is I am frothing at the mouth.  Full froth!  So many good teams.  I am curious how LCC will replace the senior class from 2019?  I am very interested in how everything plays out in Adams County?  Who will emerge as the dark horse in 1A this season?

  6. Even if Charlie only plays special teams he has an opportunity to earn a scholarship and get his education paid for.  That is an amazing feat especially if he is rated as a low prospect.  If he somehow works his way into getting some carries it will be a great story and inspirational to a lot of young athletes.

As a Bremen fan I would want to play Pioneer, Cass, and Rensselaer.  Well run programs, that would be great measuring sticks.

I’m right there with ya.  I would like to see North Judson rekindle a rivalry with Rennselear.  Maybe some day in the future if schedules can align.  For now the summer scrimmage in 95 degree heat will have to suffice.

    As far as Winamac goes

    QB..

Theyll return Russell Compton for his Jr year. Hes thrown for  2,461 yards in two seasons. Will be 3 year guy.

    Backfield.

Senior Trent Fox ran over 700 yards as a junior and hell be a  3 year starter .They'll have a new fullback next year with junior Beau Brandt more than likely..he started on D this past yr. Their wingback will be Hayden Clark. He missed the last 7 games this past year. Hell be a junior.  Will be a 3 year guy. Junior to be Shaun Pratt will be another kid in the mix.

    Wide Receivers

Senior to be Brayden Lynch. He tied the school record for receptions in a year with 45. Junior to be Jaden Terry and Senior to be Cale Paseresi will be other dudes along with an incoming sophomore who didnt play last year due to injuries on 12/5/18 and an incoming freshman.

    Offensive line

Theyll return Junior to bes Logan Schultz (6'6 278) and Kyle Olds (6'1 247) both will be 3 year starters. Olds missed the last 5 games last year. Senior Dakota Podell (5'11 235) will be back for his 3rd starting season. Senior Pat Kiefer who missed all of last year will be back at center (6'2 218). Had he played last year hed be a 3 yr starter. Juniors to be Brendan Day and Jaxon Roudebush got time as starters.

    Defense

    DL.

Jr to be Remi Schwartz..Logan Schultz and Kyle Olds all return. So will Dakota Podell.

    Lbs..

Patrick Kiefer will be returning. As will Hayden Clark and Beau Brandt. Russell Compton started a few games too.

    Dbs.

Jaden Terry, Cale Paseresi, Trent Fox, Brayden Lynch started games. An incoming freshman and Shaun Pratt could be used too.

The Warriors had 7 starters miss 36 1/2 games last year. 6 of those kids will be back.

So this is the year they go over .500?  15-18 record under Barr I think this has to be the year where the Warriors take a step forward.  A deep run into the Sectional could really help the win/loss record at the end of the season.

Hart was a senior this season, so they'll need to replace him, plus almost a third of the team that graduates.  What they will have going for them though is just about everyone coming back is battle-tested.  They are two-for-two on appearing in sectional championships since being cleared for IHSAA tournament play, so you are probably right that they'll pull a hat trick.

The only game I saw was the Lcc game and TP really held their own throughout.  Pretty impressive for such a young program.

  10. Jays held the Warriors to 40 yds rushing.  The rest of the yards were just in garbage time when Judson already had a 10-0 lead.  Winamac barely moved the ball into Judson territory and definitely didn't come close to sniffing the redzone.  The Jays left so many points off the board.  That game should have been 30-0.  Warriors offense was not able to handle the Jays defense in any capacity.  Couldn't run the ball.  Had to pass.  When they passed they threw interceptions.  Tournament football isn't rocket science.  Run the ball.  Play good defense.  Survive and advance.

Never thought to refer to our team as "puppies" but damn looking at it.. Certainly describes it. 9 sophomores have started multiple games plus the kicker. You'll see some youth next year too. We have 1-3 freshman that'll def play some V next year.

I went to the Culver vs Winamac game last weekend.  Winamac looked to be around 22 players dressed.  Did they lose some players over the last few weeks?

i’m not sure how i’m putting the jays down as i predicted them to win? and you ask for me to show some school spirit when, ask anyone, i’m the loudest in the student section and talk to the players about the game all week because i’m so into it? and you would be surprised with the tennis turnouts 😉

I'm sure if the attendance is greater than one I would be surprised.  😄

Crispus Attucks @ Pioneer: Don't know much about CA.. So ill go... Panthers 28-0

Glenn @ Knox: Glenn has a big time QB and he's only a soph... Knox is just gonna be too much for the Falcons to handle though... Skins 28 - 7

LaVille @ Caston: I don't even wanna type this out... LaVille

Triton @ Culver: Triton will go to the air early and likely could have some success vs a horrid Culver secondary... But won't be able to stop the power offense... Culver 40 - 20

Winamac @ North Judson: Jays offensive play calling could use some work to say the least... Jays waited until 4th down to spread it out and bring the passing plays vs Knox when everyone and their grandma knew what was coming... Guessing I formation up the middle every time wouldn't be the worst call for an opposing defense... Winamac has had an interesting schedule to the point... I don't think Winamac will be able to get the run game going at all vs Shidler and co.... But I do expect Compton to air the ball out and get a couple key big plays... Should be the best game here... Jays 28 - 20

Typically I look forward to your trite and sophomoric football commentary, however to denigrate the Jays week after week does become a bit monotonous.  Wild Frogs is beginning to sound a lot like some of the old-timers in the stands who say the same thing at every game such as:  Jays need to pass more.  Jays need to block better.  Jays need to run harder.  The same depthless analysis gets generationally passed down to those that know very little about football.  Here's some perspective about the Jays program:  Coach Lambert inherited a program that was ostensibly considered toxic.  The Jays have been on a championship drought for the last 15 years.  They haven't been able to win at home consistently in that time period.  The older players treated the younger players like complete garbage.  The prior coaches allowed and in some instances enabled this behavior.  Show some school spirit Wild Frogs!  You should be commending the Jays for turning the entire program around.  For ensuring that every single kid in that locker room feels like they are apart of something special.  Ask the young guys what they think about being undefeated as JV program?  Ask your friends about their trip to Bears Training Camp just because the coaches wanted to offer them something that may never have the chance to do on their own dime.  Jays are 2-0 against 1A opponents.  After tomorrow we will be 3-0 against 1A teams.  This is the same North Judson team that wasn't expected to do much at all this year because we lost so much "talent."  You see Wild Frogs, football is unlike any other sport in the world.  You can't just win with 11 guys.  You need every single kid on that roster to buy-in, learn their positions or multiple positions, and then be able to deliver in the moment on a Friday night when the pressure is through the roof.  When it is 100 degrees with humidity or when it is freezing in late October/November.  When it's raining, sleeting, or snowing.  That's a kind of pressure that you wouldn't know anything about.  Because, honestly, no one goes to tennis matches.  It's easy to criticize.  It's easy to be an arm-chair quarterback.  It's not easy to change culture, instill values, and install an entirely new offense in a short period of time.

  14. Great matchups this week!

Triton-  Caston continues to improve this season, but Triton is too much for the Comets.

Culver-  Should be a great battle between two different offensive football philosophies.

Judson-  An old Northwest Hoosier Conference rivalry is rekindled.

Pioneer-  Pioneer has not had an easy road to start this season with 2/3 of their first games have been against top ten teams in 2A.

North White-  Vikings have scored 72 points in two games and have lost close both times.
