Anyone have any prognostications for next fall.

Being the resident Bremen homer, I think the Lions should be favorites to win the North/South/Small school division.  They need to replace a couple skill positions, but only lost 5 or 6 seniors.  The Junior class that will be Seniors has played a lot of varsity and have been successful through their years in the program. The need a couple kids to come back from injuries and grade suspensions, if those kids are in the fold it will add much needed depth.  I like their chances, but Jimtown is a thorn in their side, even with Jimtown being down lately, they have Bremen's number.

What other hot takes do people have? I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, please feel free to call me an idiot.

Welcome back Marshall County !!! Jimtown/Bremen will be fighting for 2nd/3rd in the conference. I don't see Bremen as the favorite IMO. They lost 4.5/5 of their offensive production. Most of the teams in the South were young last year. Clay well its Clay. They had difficulties just having 7 men on the line of scrimmage. I don't see Riley doing much. They lose their best player in Lee and Luuga transferred to Mishawaka. Besides the HC and OC, I don't think any coaches stayed. Jarvis was suppose to come back this season but was somehow pushed out. Think you'll be seeing Riley running Marion's old stuff, but I could be wrong.  Jimtown's biggest threat this year is Johntu Reed. Most DC's will be trying to stop him this year. But, the team to beat this year is the Falcon's down in Walkertucky. They return their entire team minus 3 defensive players. They suffered some major injuries at QB/RB/Slot. But they are all healthy now. Rumor is they have a monster incoming freshmen TE/FB whose 6'2 195 lbs. Will see if he's ready to contribute. But, It should be a good year for football. Now that teams aren't suffering the restrictions from last year....Don't know what to say about Washington...will they have enough eligible kids to play?

A ton of big plays by pioneer.  It was much worse than the 38-20 score shows.  The offense was brutal.  And to say brutal is actually a understatement.  It was like watching a slow version of Culver.    Defense played well in 2nd half but game was over.    The one thing I really didn't like was Knox's leading rusher #3 wagner was on sideline 50% of time maybe more.

Ouch! That tough and don’t understand why your best runner is not in 90 percent of the time. Glenn housed a 50 yard fumble recovery 1st half and receivers caught some deep balls to set up the second TD. Had it until the last 2 mins of the game. 4th and 14 and they call pass interference. Saftey has his hands up and never touched receiver. Ball then hit the back of the safeties head.

Still mad at the beatdown Knox put on at Glenn?  I mean it was close for 4 minutes.      I think defense will play much better than last week.   Will be a game where points are hard to come by.

Naaa, 14-7 Glenn @ half with a back up QB.

The word from the diehards that stand along the fence during practice is that the Lions lost another two way lineman for the year last night in practice.  Not going to say anymore without confirmation though.  Guess we will see tomorrow night.  Unfortunate that all of these injuries are happening to this team that had a promising start to the season.  Especially during the week they get to be the 46 game of the week.

If true, they just don't have enough quality depth to overcome all these season ending irjuries.

    #54!?

Others may have more details on injuries.  In high school football, it is par for the course to be done a few guys by week 5 or 6.  Young guys get the chance to step up. I hope they are healthy and ready to go in a few more weeks.

Especially, teams with little depth and no off season to strength train

Don't feel Inferior , I don't give predictions on the entire NIC games because I don't know enough about each team to make accurate predictions . If I were to do all the NIC games , I would be guessing . Judging by Turf Toes week 5 Predictions vs Outcomes , that is exactly what he does . If your going to guess the games , don't get charminized when someone questions your prediction . LMAO

Got to have fun with the predictions and change it up once in awhile. For the longest time anyone playing Penn around here was predicted to lose and the past few years this forum was dryer then Martins supermarkets deli Chicken. Plus, I Enjoy the petty arguments, lol.

Don't think Bremen, Jimtown and Glenn want to have that happen.  Not many good options without a lot of other shuffling that would be hard to pull off. Travel would be a big sticking point as well for them to go a different direction.

Had his hand planted on the ground trying to balance himself to keep running and got hit square in the middle of the forearm by the helmet of a tackler.

Seen a break like that happen a few years back. Glad the surgery went well.

I doesn't seem that there are too many close games every week so I thought I would bring up another topic to spice things up.

Given that the South Bend School won't contract their high school in the near future...

Do you believe that the other schools leave the NIC or All South Bend Schools form their own conference.

    Just having a conversation

The NIC South would hurt the most losing Riley, CLay

Thought you would like that! 😄    I have noticed you enjoy some good natured back and forth banter.

On a more serious note, prayers for complete healing to #28 on the Lions who left the field Friday with a severe break of the bones in his forearm.  It was pretty gruesome watching it swaying back and forth.  Tough kid to jump up and jog off the field on his own to the sideline.  Think it shook his teammates for a bit in the first quarter as it was just his second game back after a year away to deal with another medical issue.  Heard he had successful surgery yesterday morning to plate and pin everything back together.

    Take a helmet to it?

Bremen at Glenn -- Which version of both of these teams show up to play Friday?  Anything you could look to for reasons to pick one team over the other apply to both.  I will pick against the all knowing Turf Toe and keep my faith on the Lions to pull out a close one and salvage a decent season despite growing injuries adding to already poor depth.

Elkhart at St. Joseph  -- St. Joe has come a ways since week one, but it is not enough to hold off a good Elkhart team.

Marian at Penn  --  Would like to be bold and go with Marian, but think Penn will have just enough to slip by the well assembled parochial.

Adams at New Prairie  -- Adams just doesn't have enough against the Cougars.

Clay at Jimtown  -- Easy Friday night for Jimtown.

Riley at Washington  -- Wildcats get fat on another cupcake.

OOoooo...this is exciting elevating my "clout" on this forum, lol.

But, I agree with you about which version of Glenn/Bremen show up. Especially, being broadcasted on 46 for all to see.

  10. Feeling a little inferior to Goldrush1985's supreme Indiana HS football knowledge, but here goes nothing LMAO.

Jimtown- handles clay easily. Clay doesn't have any depth to slow the ground and pound down. +40

New Prairie- Adam's is still struggling to compete with the strong competition in the North +17

Riley- Washington has the same issues as Clay this year. Not enough Depth. +24

    Elkhart- hmmmmm....40-6

Marian/Penn- if Marian can play mistake free for 4 quarters this one could potentially swing their way. +/- 9

Glenn- Glenn needs to clean up the turnover issues from this past week. +13

The Elkhart coaches and players all say the transition between Memorial and Central was seamless , but yet you somehow think you know different . There are no teams in Sectional 2 ranked in to top 15 in 6A . So if Elkhart does win ,what does that prove ? By looking at some of your posts and knowledge of teams in general , I started wondering what your age was . I bet your answer would explain a lot .

Well, I’m old enough not to have been taught the common core curriculum. But, if you can’t comprehend my statement about “We will see in sectionals”. The probability of a rematch of Penn/Elkhart is considerably high. Seeing that 2-3 Portage is struggling and Chesterton is also 2-3 with losses to Pioneer (2A ball) and Hobart.  My guess is that the “random” Playoff drawing will pair Penn and Elkhart on opposite sides of the bracket.  Meaning if Penn gets another shot and happens to prevail. Then we know Elkhart’s ranking was a little high. And “Clicking” has nothing to do with transitioning. But, I love the banter. Keep it up all week!!! It has brought joy to my heart knowing there are still NIC fans out there!!

So East Noble with no athletes puts up more points than Elkhart. Very close game just like I knew it would be . Turf Toe, Is Penn better than high 4A-low 5A or Is Elkhart way over ranked in 6A ? Waiting for your response.

East Noble got blanked by a 4A LEO 24-0 and Yes, I still think Penn is a high 4A low 5A. Elkhart is just learning how to click together...Do I think they are over ranked in 6A? We will see in sectionals.

Welcome to the HNAC site Turf Toe . . . .  What part of the state do you hail?

There are folks on the HNAC just as passionate about conference teams and games as anyone else.

Knox/Glenn - No comment til after the game?  What you got connections to both sides of the ball?

as always, the game is better

Nope, but I made the same comment last week against Jimtown and we won. Previous  week I opened my mouth and they never left the locker room
