St. Joe and Adams could be 0-8 heading into their week 9 matchup.

Both programs have fallen off dramatically.

Adams were moving in the right direction with Redmen.  Seems like Jones' winning ways at Washington had to do more with his players and supporting cast of coaches. Any of his teams break .500 since he left Washington? St. Joe hasn't been right since the Downey brothers departed

I heard Jimtown has 8 8th graders. They are only fielding one Jr. High team.  42 listed on there roster with 17 seniors. They may be under 35 players next year.  Shameful.

Many programs are struggling. I know for a fact Glenn's 7 and 8 grade teams both have missed games because teams can't fill their teams. Think several factors have hurt athletics...school choice and alternative schools. Jimtown could also be down because  soccer is a choice where in the past it wasnt.

Bremen fumbled a kick off and lost an onside kick on special teams. Short fields but defense in tough spots.

Is 289 yards short or long field? Glenn #9 in he first half came down hard on the hitch, tackled and stripped at the same time. Bremen was lucky the ball rolled out of bounds 1 sec too Soon. That wasn't a fumble on the opening kick off it was a forced fumble.  The kicker #16 just straight up ripped it out of the returners hand. Defense had a pick in the 3/4? Don't recall and would of had another one if the saftey hands were just a 1/4 inch longer. He read the play and undercut it beautifully. Glenn only punted because they were penalized on one and the other there was a miscue I believe. But I do believe I saw Glenn go for it on 4th and short within their own 35? And held Bremen to a 3 and out? Either way they did t score on the short field

Glenns 35 were the result of sloppy special teams and offense by Bremen.  This Bremen team may be the most careless offense I have ever seen Bremen field.  The defense isn't bad, just gets put into tough positions by the other 2 facets of the game.

I think it was the 289 yards Bremen D allowed on the ground to their 18 carries for 11 yards rushing on offense. Glenn had 6? Plays to Bremens 30. Glenn is a better team then most would like to admit. But Bremens special team didn't cost them any points the D allowed 35 points. Same argument could be made about Glenn VS Boon Grove, where Glenn was in it and their special teams cost them two returning TDs to a now 3-0 Boone Grove who will soon slide up to top 10 once Laville slides down. It wasn't so much that Bremen played sloppy. Glenn just came out and played. Their only two punts pinned Bremen inside the 10 twice. Glenn just played physical and were penalized for doing so.

  5. The battle of the recruits. I mean Holy War. ST. Joe with "QB" issues is no excuse to allow 41 points to be scored on you. I believe Glenn is the only team to score on Marian with a Sophmore QB and an offensive line half the size of everyone one else. Riley is going to need to score more then the 28 they put on Bremen to beat Marian. Marians secondary is the real deal and will pluck balls out of the air if RILEYS QB isnt on his game. Rileys run game will struggle to reach the perimeter let alone up the middle against that line. Glenn scored 35 on Bremen on  Friday. Should of been a lot worse but they had a 40 yard score on the very first play called back after they stripped/recovered the opening kickoff. Riley is a good team but anyone can score on Adams. David Perkins' Defensive play calling  has more holes then Mishawaka Avenue. I won't be surprised if Clay has more wins then Adams at the end of the year. All in all Riley should cause Marian a few fits, but that Marian D is big, fast and fundamentally sound. Marian wins big.

Does Riley have a shot against Marian?  I didn’t think they would beat Adams and they did.  Is this the defacto NIC south title game or does Jimtown have a say?

Awfully quiet from the Mishawaka fans on here this year?  What’s the story with the Cavemen this year.  I know lots of kids back on Defense, but they seem to be givIng up some points.  I heard offense has been turning it over a little on the YouTube Keith Kinder show.

Marians defense is legit. Look for Marian to Win 30-7, if Riley can score. Adams is just that bad.

The South Division taking it to the North a little this week.

Riley beating Adams.  I gotta be honest, wasn't thinking they had much of a chance going into that game so congrats to the Cats as well.

Marian vs St. Joe.  I kind of thought Marian might win this one, but definitely didn't see that kind of a score.

Elkhart Central did beat Jimtown so the north didn't get swept.

Some great games. Clay getting a much uplifting win for the kids, Glenn dominating Bremen, Washington holding off KV. Adams game wasn't surprising at all and what's going in Granger. Penn seems to have lost their winning ways

Washington High School under new head Coach Stammich brought the number of players on the team to 51.  I don't know how many the other schools have on their team, but this is an improvement.  After reading the article about the sportsmanship between Washington and Jimtown I would think that Washington is on their way to being relevant again.  Maybe Saint Joseph could learn something from Jimtown and Washington(over 100 yards again in there last game against Northridge.  Yes I agree Clay should disband their whole athletic program.

An improvement? Max preps has a roster of 65 for 2017 and 2018 just slightly under. If I'm not mistaken. One of the few schools that could field an A B C team and you must of missed the right haymaker thrown by 23 on Jimtown and Washingtons Corner squaring up and blasting him with a right cross, which caused cost Washington good field position and ultimately forcing them to punt on a nice drive.Bremen is down but they have enough for a JV squad, Clay? Jimtown might be hurting next year with that 8th grade class of 8-9 kids. Glenn has a JV but mostly all freshmen.

  9. Weekly Predictions:

Andrean VS NP- I'm going to go with the NIC on this matchup. NP doesn't win easy but they edge out Andrean by 14.

Jimmies VS Central - Central proves to be too much and takes this one by 21

WS versus Mishawaka - don't know what happened last week but Mishawaka better wake up. Mishawaka by 7 on this one.

Hammond Versus Clay - Does Clay break their steak and get their first win? Tough guess on this fundamentally below average game. 50/50 first team to score wins.

Homewood vs Penn -would love to support the pride of granger in this contest, But Homewood proves to be too much. Look for Homewood to take this one and make it 43 wins since 2015.

Riley Vs Adams - the battle of the former Westsiders. Can Jones revive his struggling Eagles? Rumor has it Ira is still banged up from the Northridge game and is considering sitting out the rest of the season. Any truth to the whispers? Look for Riley to edge this one out if Ira sits. Riley 21- Adams 14

Bremen VS Glenn - Glenn rolls into Bremen and escapes with a close win. Not much to say on this one. Look for Glenn to tighten down their run defense.

ST. Joseph VS Marian : Nothing divine about this game. It's going to come down to who has the better recruits. Marian on top by 14

Technically, incorrect. We suggested to a coach once that one of his players was running a little hot, and was about to get in trouble. He took the kid out. This pissed the kid off, so he said something unprintable to the wing official while on the sidelines and got hit with an unsportsmanlike.

    But I see your point.

Obviously, anyone who addresses a ref in an unfavorable manner is going to get flagged. I was referring to his play on the field. Which isn’t the first time and most likely won’t be the last.

  11. Bremen at Riley ©, 7 pm  Rileys D-Line Luuga/Lee cause too many problems for Bremen to handle. Riley takes this  36-7
Central at Goshen, 7:30 pm Central dominates 42-6. Goshen could barely handle a struggling Fairfield
Jimtown at Washington ©, 7 pm Jimtown  gouges an undisciplined defense 42-7, could be wrong, but I’m typically right. Stammich suffers his first real loss.
LaPorte at Penn, 7:30 pm Penn shows some signs of life and takes this one for Granger at home 30-0
Mishawaka at East Noble, 7 pm Mishawaka clubs there way past Noble by 21 Interior LBs are solid
Marian at Glenn ©, 7 pm This could be a trap game for Marian. Hard to say on this one.  Clay practically gave them the ball inside the 25 the entire night This one will depend  on Marian’s QB play. Word from the Tri-County area is that Glenn battled hard and needs to clean up their special teams which cost them 2 Returns for TDs.  Toss Up in my opinion don’t get bent out of shape.
Adams at GlenOak (Ohio), 7:30 pm The battle of the Eagles. If Ira can get going early Adams clips the golden eagles  wings 35-20. GlenOak 1-9 last year.
Clay at New Prairie, 7:30 pm. Oh Dear 63-0 last year? Get your dollar popcorn early this ones over in the first 6 minutes. clay spends their night trying to patch the gapping holes in their D.New Prairie subs their JV by 2nd quarter. 6?-0??
St. Joseph at Northridge, 7 Hail Marys won’t work in this one. Northridge takes this one at home 40-21
