Here’s part of a Facebook post I saw this morning:
“Flag for targeting. [Home team] Player ejected. Penalty 15 yards from the end of the play. 1st down. Play ran for a gain of 3 yards. White hat called to the [home team] side line. Head coach shows official an iPad with film. They watch the film and white hat has conference with team.
Walks to the middle of the field and radios the press box that he is waving off the penalty for targeting and no personal foul. Player is allowed to return to the game.”
In case there’s any question, it is absolutely forbidden for the officials to use any form of reply under any circumstances. I’m pretty sure the R on this game is going to be getting a call from the IHSAA today … and it won’t be pleasant.
