Tippy Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 LCC and Lafayette Jeff are 6-0 this year. That has never happened before. In 1999 LCC was 6-0 and Jeff was 5-1, but both have never been 6-0 in the same year. Jeff might finish 9-0, but LCC will probably end up 8-1. These are not the best teams Jeff and LCC have had, but they are both 6-0. LCC might not win sectional and Jeff will probably not make it past the regional. But history has been made. Quote

No, I awarded the Knights the win over Ritter. LCC was up 10-0 in the first Q and everyone knows LCC would have won that game. Ritter said they would not come back and should have had to forfeit. That was going to be one ugly game if it had played through. LCC was two for two on possessions and scores there was still 4 minutes left in the first quarter and LCC had just taken over for what would be their third possession when the teams were sent to the locker room due to lightening. The only thing that kept it to two scores in 8 minutes was that Ritter burned about 6 1/2 minutes of clock time on offense without going anywhere. I think Ritter had one first down and it came on the first offensive play of the game when LCC got called for a 15-yard face mask. Outside of that, LCC was camped out in Ritter's backfield for what little playing time there was ... I'd be surprised if Ritter had 10 or more yards of net offense for the game. Quote

It wouldn't have been as ugly as the Benton Central game is going to be a week from Friday. I think Jeff and LCC will win this Friday and history will still be made. Jeff will be 7-0 and LCC will be 6-0 or 7-0. LCC and Jeff 6-0 in the same year has never happened. It seems like whenever Jeff had great teams LCC was bad, and when LCC had great teams Jeff was bad.
