gindie Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 This occurred in a big time game in California. Besides all kinds of spiking after touchdowns, taunting, excess celebration that were not penalized, this play was on the final touchdown. Should this have been penalized? 0 5GetsYou1 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 In NFHS rules, this is absolutely Helping The Runner. 9-1 An offensive player shall not push, pull or lift the runner to assist his forward progress. - 5 Yards The typical philosophy is that it has to be there, a lot of times it's hard to discern between the pile and the runner. There has to be an obvious attempt, which I'd say picking the runner up and carrying him across the goal line hits the nail on the head. As far as the spiking, taunting, etc., I believe these games are more NCAA rules than NFHS and without normal state consequences these thing happen a lot. Quote
