  1. That's really cool! And I don't doubt that, it's a great logo!
  2. Do they players bring extra helmet stickers to exchange with each other?
  3. This is before the display changes next on July 6th: myihsaa.net > Resources > Sports > Football > Scroll down to Officials' Information > Football Officials' Crew 5-person Mechanics and Best Practices They might announce the final version for 2026 before the season starts.
  4. This sectional has the potential to be very fun to watch.
  5. Just an update, Yorktown got turf this season.
  6. Adams Central also plays on grass so no element change for them at Andrean.
  7. Here's a picture that does a good job showing the area. And like Bobref said, it has to be to the ground backwards or sideways.
  8. I think what most people don't realize is a horse-collar tackle is a foul to protect the runner's legs and knees. When they get pull from that high up and their foot is in the ground there is no where for the force of their body to go and causes the knee to buckle with a lot of pressure.
  9. Nope, personal fouls hold nothing more than the penalty unless they are flagrant or for fighting.
  10. Personal fouls are not automatic first downs. The only automatic first downs under NFHS rules are roughing the snapper, holder, kicker, quarterback. A horse-collar tackle is when the inside back or side collar, or the name plate area is pulled backwards or sideward to the ground. Thank you for listening to my RefTalk.
  11. "Hello, Mr. Faulkins? Yes, um... there is a live... wild cat here at the game.."
  12. They are still that way, like a lot of other schools that don't have locker rooms near the field and have to use the school. As a crew, we always have someone go up to the locker room and radio back when the players have made it in, then we start the halftime clock. We also have an official at the home and visitors locker rooms before the game and near the end of halftime so they know how much time is left to get back to the field.
  13. I think you answered your own question. They showed up around 2:45 during the mandatory 3 minute warmup?
  14. @Bobref Do you know why the state allows drones during the regular season and not the tournament? They provide some wonderful footage.
  15. It can be live ball or dead ball, they can take it on the try, kickoff, but not overtime. Penalties on a try or field goal by the opposing team can be taken to overtime though.
  16. Without seeing the video and just as a case play, it should have been 1st & 10 at the 21 for B. Straight from the Redding Study Guide: If an official blows his whistle while a player has possession of the ball, the play is dead immediately. The team in possession has one of two options: to take the ball where it was blown dead, or to replay the down at the previous spot. For the PI, the scoring team has the option to take the penalty at the succeeding spot or the succeeding kickoff, so based on your description that seems correct. They shouldn't signal a decline motion, but point to the spot of the kickoff instead.
  17. Just curious, I noticed you picked Yorktown to win that sectional which would be over Pendleton (Pendleton won in the regular season).
  18. For some reason, it seems the clock operations have been getting worse. I've spoken with a lot of operators that are being told flat out wrong information on when to start/stop the game/play clocks. On the other hand, we've had several operators not listen during our pre-game meeting and it feels like a fight to get the play clock started at the correct time.
  19. Absolutely, but I would be willing to bet my game check the coach for K will still have his hands up signaling touchdown 😆
  20. And a very angry coach for the kicking team.
  21. I think a lot of people keep forgetting this about HS football.
  22. Where do you find his predictions at? Thanks in advance.
  23. In NFHS rules, this is absolutely Helping The Runner. 9-1 An offensive player shall not push, pull or lift the runner to assist his forward progress. - 5 Yards The typical philosophy is that it has to be there, a lot of times it's hard to discern between the pile and the runner. There has to be an obvious attempt, which I'd say picking the runner up and carrying him across the goal line hits the nail on the head. As far as the spiking, taunting, etc., I believe these games are more NCAA rules than NFHS and without normal state consequences these thing happen a lot.
  24. This was my thinking as well, and as @Irishman pointed out, the flag was by Center Grove's sideline. Which makes it even stranger, this would suggest a sideline warning, illegal substitution, or unsportsmanlike conduct over a personal foul on a dead ball foul about 20 yards away from the line of scrimmage.
