Carroll at Elkhart - Although not a bad team, I thought Travon Curry's team would be a little stronger than what they are in his second season. They're not ready for NE Indiana's marquee program. Carroll wins 38-14

Snider at Northrop - Give a program like Snider two weeks to prepare, and they are sure to close the 21 point gap that separated these two a few weeks back. In the end, the Bruins just have more talent than Snider. Northrop wins 28-17.

HSE at Homestead - This is really just a tune-up game for HSE. It's not a matter of if, but by how much. Homestead just flat out struggles against Indy's better teams. HSE wins this one 35-7.

North Side at Goshen - Speaking of tune-ups, if North is on top of their game, this should be a blowout. Lets say North 39-14.

South Side at East Noble - South Side is showing improvement under Andre Goodwell, but this team isn't anywhere read for what they are going to face in Kendallville on Friday...............I'm feeling like East Noble takes this one 42-13.

Columbia City at Dwenger - The Eagles look good against the bad teams and bad against the good teams. Friday night will be bad for Columbia City. This one screams Dwenger 35-0.

Norwell at Luers - This won't be much of a game, not much else to say. Luers 35-7

In the past, Norwell has given Luers fits.  Be careful in  your predictions.

2006? Really? You don't have to do the Lou Holtz thing. Luers will win this game half asleep.

Can someone explain to me why Concordia fell off so hard? They won state nine years ago. Was that just a once-in-a-generation team?

Well, there's been a lot of talk lately, at all levels, that a coach is only as good as his quarterback. When Concordia won state that year, they had this kid named Peter Morrison. Head coach was Tim Mannigel. He had some solid teams, took a one year break in 2021 before coming back. They were pretty bad in 2021, and Mannigel just hasn't been able to get them back to where he had them. Reason? No idea. But it does seem like the better athletes in Fort Wayne are bouncing around from team to team. North Side and Northrop seem to winning the recruiting wars as of late. No one really says "I want to send my kid to Concordia" to play football. They say that about Snider, Luers, Dwenger, Carroll, and Homestead. Suddenly Northrop is getting their lions share of athletes, took two from Luers this past season. It's a free for all.

It was the perfect storm for them..sf cleared the way for them to a blue ring that year..sadly the cadets had teams with alot more talent that never made the bus ride to indy..Their feeder program is almost non existent n those Lutheran families aren't as prevalent as they were in the late 90's..

I guess I expected more from them. Felt they could ride that momentum and make something of the program. Even if they didn’t perform well in the regular season I thought they could pull a Luers and use their challenging schedule to go on deep runs in the postseason. I was wrong.

I too was surprised at how easily West Noble dispatched Concordia, thinking maybe the Cadet's schedule would have prepared them better. Maybe after the season Concordia had, the kids just pretty much threw up the white flag. Who knows, all speculation. We know they have a pretty good coach though. No matter how good your quarterback is, you still have to be able to coach to get that blue ring. I just think the fight for talent in Fort Wayne is pretty fierce, and Concordia is at the bottom of the list. I will say this though, Concordia is a great school to send your kids, and I'd argue the best in Northeast Indiana.  That's where my kid would go, good football player or otherwise.
