Did I hear correctly that Purdue's president left for Northwestern?  Does this open up an opportunity for a president that may be more open to sports investment??

Coach?  Any thoughts??

I haven't been following that story. One would think football should be priority number one for any university, even basketball can't compete with the revenue football is capable of producing.  It probably wasn't fair of me to mention Purdue since Odom only has one year under his belt. I honestly think Kelly would choose sitting at a beach versus taking over a program that doesn't seem to be invested.

Yes, he went to NW

He was VERY pro Sports.... however, Purdue will continue to do just fine

If the Basketball program has adapted then Football can too,  If money was an issue then why did Purdue Hoops just signed the "8th" ranked class in the nation?   If money was an issue why did Braden Smith say no to Kentucky and reported 3 mil offer?   Why did Braden Smith tell Gonzaga to get bent after after his SOPH year and their multi million deal if money was the issue?

Purdue football had a Darrell Hazel problem that Jeff Brohm fixed and now Purdue Football had a RYAN WALTERS problem that Barry Odom is going to fix (that is my optimism and seems to be trending that way)

So the issue is NOT the President nor his lack of supposed narrative Purdue doesn't pay.... they do

For instance, I know for a fact, literal FACT, that a certain player from Indiana HS who decommitted from a massive B10 program known to develop a certain position very well, then Purdue came in and offered MORE MONEY then the team the kid decommitted to and offered 2 year contract..... kid decided to go to IU, no fault there, but it wasn't because Purdue offered was short cited and lacking money, that is a fact.

Barry Odom was on many media tours talking about how he purposely BANKED money last year for this year because he wanted to get a full grasp of who he had already, who was willing to go through THE EDGE off season program and who is worthy of certain monetary contracts.    No surprise they were able to land JETT GOLDSBURY ..... my guess they offered more money and when Kiffin went and didn't want him at LSU as his connections were with DC at Ole Miss, then jumped at Purdue offer and money

I remember when you explained this story to me of said player that eventually landed at IU.  Well stated above.

then he has 750k a month reasons to just chill

but that is me

I think his coaching days are done. The book is out there on him after the LSU AD’s recent comments. He has the CBS job that fulfills his obligation to LSU and keeps the checks rolling in, and he can play as much golf as he wants.

Not doing to disagree Coach as you are much closer than me.  But I am good friends with a former Purdue 4 year athlete and a consistent contributor as part of the John Purdue club.  Let's just say he has a very different view as far as the past president's support of football, especially financially.  Let's hope you are correct.  If they have the funds, they should land the players. I think Purdue has a very fine coach.

IU's president and her past experience on the senior administration at the Univ of Georgia made a huge difference for IU's football program.  She knew what football means at UGA and clearly had a vision to change the direction at IU when she arrived.  Hoping President Whitten sticks around for awhile!!
