Conference games start

Marian (1-1) at SB Adams (1-1)

St. Joseph (2-0) at New Prairie (0-2)

SB Washington (0-2) at Elkhart (1-1)

Penn (2-0) at SB Riley (1-1)

Just save resources and give the trophy to Penn, mark em' 9-0 going into sectionals and have them scrimmage against themselves every Friday night for a couple of months. They made Mishawaka look like a JV team. Only team in this conference that might belong on the same field as them is Elkhart and I'm not even sure of that. 

This past Friday was a wake up call to where the cougar program is. Last season was going to be a down year regardless who was coaching, we just lost so much production there was no maintaining where we were for the last handful of years. I saw the cougars against Laporte and I didn't think we looked bad at all, we weren't winning trophies but we looked like an average to average 4A school. I figured we'd be competitive against Northwood after what I saw and when I heard Northwood lost 45-7 to Columbia City I was honestly expecting a solid NP victory over the panthers. Being down 37-0 at the half to NW was humbling and raising questions. Also heard from a couple people 5-6 senior starters quit the team, don't know if it's true or not but it would make sense given the on-field product.

Penn and the NIC need to come to an agreement where either they leave the conference in football or allow them to play the JV vs other school varsity teams.

My apologies.  I wasn’t clear.  I was referencing the players that quit.

I agree something needs to change.  Having the Penn JV play a varsity schedule isn't going to happen.  Penn is tapped by their location.  Several years ago, there was talk about them joining the Duneland.  This never happened due to the time zone difference and travel for the other sports.

that doesn't help, but still we can both be correct here. Penn varsity is not helping anyone by crushing teams by half. 

This isn't a shot at the SB schools or Marian, however those Varsity teams vs the Penn JV squad would be a good game.
