Guest DT
Fair or not, Ive always used the Kentucky program as a benchmark for IU football, good or bad. It was not too far back when the two schools played annually in non conference action. The games were generally close and emtertaining. LOts of similarities between Indiana and Kentucky, one of the biggest being their love of basketball and the clear backseat that football takes to hoops. IU holds the series lead at 18-17-1. Very close. Both schools anchor the bottom of their respective conferences. Indiana has a .421 all time winning persentage, ranking #123 in college football. Kentucky is at .499, ranked #90 http://www.winsipedia.com/indiana/vs/kentucky Lots of other interesting comparisons here. The two schools do not appear to recruit in the others state. Morgan Newton of Carmal being a major exception. The Kentucky football program is ranked in the pre season Top 20 and generally thought to be on the upswing under long time HC Mark Stoops. IU is a mystery , and looking at anywhere from 1 to 4 wins under Tom Allen. Is it fair to say that since the series between the two ended, KY has lapped IU in college football? If so, is it due primarliy to the work of Stoops and his staff, while IU has been thry several staff changes over the past 15 years?
southend
Yes, with coaching change ,so often-you loose a lot of valuable building or fine tuning, instead of starting all over. Case in point. IU. So yes and no on Stoops and staff. Yes they have done a good job, but is that the reason Kentucky is ahead of Indiana? Or is it a case of too many coaching changes for indiana to gain any traction? Could be a combination. Yes, Kentucky lapped Indiana. Indiana is behind but I think they unlapped themselves starting with Kevin Wilson til now.
Footballking16
Yes and no. The SEC has really taken off these last 10-15 years and that automatically raised Kentucky's profile, which has seen dividends in recruiting. Kentucky also benefits from playing in the SEC East and that has really tremendously as there are years where they avoid Bama, LSU, Auburn completely. Tennessee and Florida have had some down years these last 4-5 seasons and Kentucky has been able to capitalize although both Tennessee and Florida appear to be on their way "back" with a couple solid coaching hires. Indiana also has been hurt (at least in terms of W-L record) as they play in the dominant of the two Big Ten divisions. Simply put, if IU plays a Big Ten West schedule and UK plays an SEC West schedule the last 4-5 years, I think records are reversed.

Guest DT
https://247sports.com/Season/2020-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/ KY is a much more talented team than IU. Check out the composite talent rankings. They are not close.
