My Theory: Lcc has long had Safteyitis It's a disease... afflicts certain programs perhaps genetically related I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause.. or isolate the symptoms... but I can recognize em when I c em an accurately predict a reocuuance... n did so on the 1st big game with RC when RC won State. It held up till late in the 4th Q RC 2 Lcc 0 Being a man of science, I was hopeful u could come up with a cure... when at Harrison but guess ur baffled as well... as its the other program I aware of that has an affliction ... its manifestations r actually worse... resulting in Fumbleitis ... swear da God it is....

Did they have common opponents?

Do u hav more detail on those years? ... records ect.. most know of the WL series... SW seems... well forgotten by alota peeps... curious now I am...

Gotcha... All very interesting.. thx! I do think ther was a rivalry w SW.. Lcc n SW/Wainwright/McC all on the South side of Laf.. carried over w McC for a couple yrs.. the Mavs were very good.. I do recall Lcc went 2-0 vrs some very very good Mav teams at the start of that series.. it was important to beat SW... no matter what they called themselves... LoL

Tippy... im confused... enrollment was dropping... but they were close to being moved up to 2A by enrollment? How is that??

Rings a bell... so happens I knew the Mgr of Tarkington Hall... caught a pass from Mike Phipps in the street in front of my house one spring.... think he musta lobbed it at me... LoL

Tippy wasn't there a bit of a rivalry between Southwestern n Lcc?? Wernt they the last game of the season for a few years in the 60s 70s?

But in the 80s u say they were almost 2A by enrollment?????

Dang Donnie... didn't know FC ever ventured to Tippy. Co in da reg season... did dey play Sothwestern or Wainwright before the consolidation? Seems Southwestern was always 10-0 9-1 ish n would get their season ruined by Lcc a few times.. Wainwright was always the Bball arm of McC da way I member it....

Tuff break for the Mavs.. 1st and 10 with less than 3min ta go... and fumbled the snap at their own 2 yrd line... Mavs were one of those 3 headed monster type teams, running the Michigan option...

Upon going to the archives... I found this.. u decide... McC fumbled the snap in the shadow of their own goal post with less than 3 min to go... MM defeated Jasper 34-7 the following week for the 2A Title

Oh My... so HC member McCutchen made the playoffs in 82.. n got blasted by Franklin in the finals... some say that was there best team ever..... it was their 76 team.... jmho. hmmmm

So.. the HC gamed the system getting an easy 2pts for adding a winless Lcc in 81 an 82... oh my

Lcc petioned up to 2A for 81 n 82 Really?? I only heard of MM and Scenia doing that on their own... hmmm.. nice catch!

Tippy.. u should clear that up if ur gonna do a history thread. Miss Anthrop would not approve.. lol. It would b a surprise to learn that Lcc was ever anything other than class A... i believe enrollment was in decline.. n headed for the chopping block... Mish Marion is special.. I beleve they petioned all the way up to 3A from 1A.. perhaps they fell back in line with their enrollment when 4A was introduced??

Luers can go 4-6 and win State... Before 83... was more like an early attempt at using a SAG type solution to qualify for the tourney that incorporated the SOS factor into the selection process... Using Poll Rank and Geography to determine hm field. Had the ISHAA expanded the tourney then to include half of the field, it might be still in use today... with the yearly sounding of the trumpets to then seed it.... Or, you could just say.. no worries ur All IN ...

WoW... IDK ther was film of the ISHAA meeting wher the SFactor was adopted!!!

Gotcha... yes... Lcc bein so small struggled getting numbers... and like all of 1A just a few injuries killed alotta their teams... Lil GridIron def saved FB from bein relegated to grade school recess .... . being its Indiana.. School sponsored Basketball teams were formed in 5th grade back then ... the younger ones were playing it in their cribs... 😆

Tippy... R u asserting that there was no youth program before 85 or so? Coach LaRocca won a State Title without the support of countless hours of those dedicated to a youth program? ... If your saying that Lcc's success has been directly tied to the Strength of it's youth program... id agree... jus sayin....
