It is not about feelings.  It is about respect.  Sorry that you don't get that.

I'm sure Kelce and Reid respect each other, and more importantly, they couldn't care less about the pearl clutching of internet Karens.

    Victory.  At all cost.

If the Chiefs had lost you bet there would be a lot more scrutiny around Mr. Kelse's boorish actions toward Mr. Reid in that moment.

Well yes, his job is quite literally to win football games, not protect his own hurt ego. Thankfully Andy Reid is not insecure.

The Chiefs didn't lose though. They won, a large part of that owing to the fact Kelce got going in the second half and wasn't benched because he hurt his coach's feelings. And now the only conversation that matters is that the Chiefs are a dynasty and Andy Reid is one of the greatest coaches of all time. The only thing the Kelce outburst mattered for was the memes its spawned. Benching him would have turned this into a bigger deal than it even was.

  3. Well there's a reason Andy Reid has won 3 Super Bowls and everyone here hasn't lol.

This is an emotional game played by emotional men. He'd be insane to bench one of the best players on the team because he hurt his feelings. KC doesn't come back in the second half if Reid was as mentally weak as some here.

It will be interesting to see what approach they take with this one. Not sure if there is an heir apparent on this staff--certainly not in the way that Cory was when Gees retired at least--or if there is greater incentive to look outside of the wider Penn "family."

As a Penn guy yourself, would you prefer they look within or try for someone external?

Cory Yeoman retiring after 20+ years as HC of Penn. Congratulations to Coach Yeoman on a great career leading the Kingsmen.

Will be interesting to see what happens here. While they've fallen off a bit in recent years, Penn still has to be considered one of the premier coaching jobs in the state.

The p/p advantages go away at 4A enrollment numbers, for the most part, but definitely at 5A numbers.  That's when you finally get enough quality success-driven athletes in your hallways to overcome the ones who join a club of like-minded individuals in 1A-3A.

Not sure how this checks out when Cathedral, Roncalli, and Dwenger are some of the most successful programs in the state at these levels.

Penn Drops Carmel in favor of Mishawaka.....

We will be an undefeated paper giant going into sectionals for the foreseeable future.

    GAH.

Seems like a play for the gate you’d get at those games more than anything and to rekindle that historical rivalry.

But doesn’t help with making deep runs in 6A.

    Penn to the DAC when?

Stop being so biased towards Indy teams.

They’ve only won 23 straight state titles in the state’s largest class…

We will once again hear in 2024 “not to sleep” on a Fort Wayne/Region area school only to have them lose by 4 touchdowns if they make it to Thanksgiving weekend.

The Indy bias is completely justified by the results and the eye test itself. I think anyone watching that game who was being honest with themselves could see pretty quickly it was men vs boys.

Truthfully, and this is probably a hot take, if the past two years have made me think anything, it’s that the HCC (outside of Brownsburg) isn’t actually as good as it’s hyped to be. Westfield and HSE would’ve faced the same fate had they made it to LOS that Carroll and CP did. Still the best conference top to bottom, but most teams a definite tier below the true Indy powers.

Even if seeded geographically at the sectional round, Brownsburg woulda matched up with BD one week later.  And no offense but CG or Brownsburg would have also rolled Crown Point…probably Cathedral too.

I often get accused of “Indy bias” but just at the 6A level it is so damn lopsided and has been for quite some time.

This often gets laughed at (and probably should) but dividing the state east/west would do wonders, specifically for 6A.

No offense taken. Brownsburg, Cathedral, and CG would all have blown CP out. I’m not completely delusional about the level of football in my area of the state (unlike others here).

You’re right in that 6A South being so much better is a problem in the current set up. Obviously it’s hard when a large majority of the schools sit right in the center of the state. East/West would be interesting (not sure how that would look for travel times though). If they had an actual qualifier I think you could justify any long travel times (as opposed to the first round blowouts you’d get otherwise).

Either way this is all pretty mute because the IHSAA ain’t changing it. But not a good look for the Indiana HS FB with the level of competition seen this past weekend.

EC is an excellent football team and they wore Northwood down late, you'd be hard pressed to find someone that didn't expect that exact outcome. Northwood defended well and they played above my expectations, of which I made clear by week two of the season,

unfortunately they fell behind, and EC is not a team that you want to be behind against.

notice what happened to the clock everytime they touched the ball

is 4a north still way behind 4a south? yes, without a doubt.

Was this a promising look for the future of 4a North football? absolutely.

When a team comes out and plays strong I am always going to recognize that.

Especially if I previously doubted that they could.

What I'm saying is EC handled them well as we all expected,

however they showed more promise than I personally expected from them

. I thought up through most of the third quarter I was going to lose my bet

@temptation you owe me two beers

I’ll agree, NorthWood played EC a lot tougher than I thought they could.

Not sure if that means anything for 4A North actually being competitive in the future. NorthWood had 2 P5 guys on the outside, don’t think that can be overstated.

Maybe if Dwenger gets back to form.

The 2021 game was a classic.  Best game of the day so far.    East St. Louis is such a mystery.   Cary-Grove played well, stuck with a solid game plan and scored late for a state title.

That whole quarter killing drive was brutal. East St Louis’s QB going down played a huge role in that ending too. Hard to win with a Freshmen in that situation.

Several weeks ago, I thought Loyola would win this game in a walk.   Now not so sure as Lincoln-Way East had a large win (49-6) over a very good Barrington team last weekend.    Should be a great game which I shall stream later today.

You watch Cary-Grove vs East St. Louis 2? The first game they played was a classic and they just put on another one.

I dont think Lutheran or ac are anywhere close to a lock to beat luers.

Though I'll concede this is an off year for 2a as a whole

I'll take lutheran and ac serious when they show up with a real schedule.

Until then ft wayne luers is everything they aspire to be.

What was worse in context: 5A last year or 2A this year?

With as much as you ripped 5A last year (justifiably), seems like 2A is getting off easy.
