However, the Rocks did catch up, and as I posted in another thread, I really think they would have scored had they gone for two with 18 seconds left in regulation. CP's defense looked a bit gassed after Westfield scored 21 straight points. This was also mentioned by Kyle Neddenriep of the Indy Star on a local Indy morning sports show. When asked about CP, he mentioned that the past two weeks they barely escaped after giving up multi score leads.

I mean if we’re talking about coulda woulda shoulda, I’m sure Buz would’ve taken the FG in the 3rd and punted on that last possession instead of the 4th down attempts both times. If he does those two things, then maybe the game never gets to OT to begin with.

But the game was played and the decisions were made as they were, and CP won.

Well, having read the region sports board from the link above, some quotes are out there:

    1. Merrillville’s defense is far superior to Snider - Wow, that is quite a statement. Not sure what games that poster watched of Snider, but the Panthers defense is pretty good. Must be the 11 D-1 starters on defense for the Pirates…

    2. Snider hasn’t seen speed like Merrillville - Uh, Snider plays plenty of speed teams. FYI, Snider has plenty of speed as well…

    3. The real state title game was Valpo vs. Merrillville - Let’s see how that plays out… Pretty damn sure Snider isn’t going to lay down against the Pirates and whoever comes out of the South is pretty damn good as well…

It is only Tuesday so let’s see what else is said from the Region…

You’re giving way too much attention to Parkhurst

Ha, you can go onto Regions Sport Forum and check it out. The word on that Forum was that the Valpo and Merrillville game was last week was for the 5A State Title.

There is some good billboard material for Snider, If I say so my self.

    “Word on that forum”

You mean one deluded fan said it and everyone else immediately crapped on it? Lol

I've often wondered if the act is real or he's a magnificent troll. Fairly certain he now has Merrillville, who won the 5A State Title last week per his proclamation, losing to Snider.

It’s hard to tell sometimes. I don’t wanna get into speculation, but I think there could be other things at play too.

  4. Said before last week CP hadn’t been tested all year passing the ball. And they  unsurprisingly got torched against Penn. IMO CP’s only hope in this game is Ehrlich extending plays and hitting Westfield for big gains in the scramble drill. The Dogs will need to win a shootout if they want to advance.

Think this one will be close early but Westfield will start to pull away in the 3rd/4th. I’ll take the Rocks by 2 TDs.

  5. It occurred to me that we arguably have 3 of the coaches who’d be on a Mt Rushmore of Indiana FB coaches still coaching this weekend (Russ Radtke, Bud Wright, Eric Moore).

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but who’d be on your Mount Rushmore?

Hard to narrow it to 4, but I’d go with: Eric Moore, Chris Geeseman, Don Howell, and Bud Wright.

HM: Dick Dullaghan, Russ Radtke & Russ Isaacs

You haven't watched him for 4 years unless you were attending Hobart Middle School games 4 years ago. Lol he is a Junior (2 years at Hobart and 1 at CP), those are his numbers through 3 seasons and I'd say those are far from "pedestrian." I wouldn't say the word elite (yet) either because elite is what Brady Allen and Danny O'Neil are, in comparison, but if you don't think he's the most elite region QB in (at least) the last 15 years, then idk what players you've been watching but I sure would like to see 'em. Lol

Good player, but he can’t hold a candle to DeSommer lmao.

The only problem is there's a small window to get those OOC games in and you have to have reciprocated interest. Regarding Illinois, they start a week later than Indiana. And a lot of the Suburban Conferences don't travel far for OOC. They'll play a Chicago Catholic League school or schools from different Conferences (i.e. DuPage Valley vs. West Suburban).

True. I’m mainly talking about Indy/FW though I should make clear. The SAC opened up this year and Carroll was able to get two games vs Indy teams, Snider played Warren, North Side played LN, and Dwenger played Brownsburg. If the DAC wanted to, it could get games like this, I imagine. But for some reason these teams are (for the most part) seemingly content with playing local teams from lower classes.

How good is CP's D? I see they have held M-ville and Valpo to combined 20 points. Does the D have ability to limit Penn to 2-3 TDS max?

Against the run they’re very stout. But like I mentioned earlier they haven’t been challenged in the passing game once this year.

If Penn can take advantage of this fact, I think they could put up 28 points or more. If not, then I definitely could see CP holding them to 2-3 TDs.

  9. Penn/Elkhart to the DAC and the East/West split was discussed on here extensively a few years ago. I thought it made a lot of sense at the time but I'm not sure of that now. I think the DAC is pretty content with its current membership as of now. And I really think it would benefit the DAC teams and Penn/Elkhart more to start scheduling better OOC competition (FW, Indy, Chicago Burbs) than that configuration.
