  1. Friday, Oct. 25 Central at Adams, 7 pm New Prairie at Riley, 7:30 pm Clay at Culver Academy, 7 pm Logansport at St. Joseph, 7 pm Tippecanoe Valley at Washington, 7 pm Garrett at Jimtown, 7:30 pm Lakeland at Marian, 7 pm West Noble at Glenn, 7 pm Manchester at Bremen, 7 pm Central destroys Adams (sending the Adams Administration looking for a new coach?) New Prairie is supportive in helping Riley start their basketball season. CMA BIG...Clay should be the school that the SBCSC closes after this year. St. Joe...only because I know NOTHING about Logansport. Washington in a surprise for many. TV won't be used to the speed. Jimtown in a close one. Garret always plays Jimtown TOUGH. Marian ends Lakeland's season rather easily. West Noble easily over Glenn Bremen at home?
  2. CMA BIG over Bremen (49-0) Jimtown ROLLS (45-0) New Prairie bests Central (35-13) Mishawaka hangs on (23-21) Riley has too much speed (21-13) St. Joe picks up its 1st win (20-12) Marian is too much for Washington (35-7)
  3. Jimmies Bounce Bremen 27-6 Penn rebounds offensively and beats Central in a close one 28-20 Glenn destroys Clay 49-0 Mishawaka hangs on to beat Marian 22-21. New Prairie keeps rolling 56-6. More points will be scored than people present in the stands as Adams beats Washington 44-31 CMA keeps St. Joe winless 27-13.
  4. Thanks Guru for trying to take away my opinion of a team that has been STRUGGLING for YEARS. They ARE getting BETTER. I know, your Lancers are WORLD BEATERS with a SOS at 216! C'mon...its an OPINION! I'm not Jimmy "The Greek".
  5. Marian in a close one. 21-17 (But watch out for CMA come playoff time) Central shuts out Adams. 33-0 (Who's next HC at Adams?) Glenn feeling good about themselves. 16-14 (Glenn getting better every week). Mishawaka dominates. 42-6 (St. Joe's schedule is ROUGH, can they win one this year?) Penn beats a good New Prairie team. 28-20 (New Prairie's defense is still questionable) A bad Benton Harbor team beats a worse Clay team 35-7. (How long until SBCSC decides they only need 3 high schools?) Jimtown beats Riley at home for Coach Campbell's 100th victory 27-18 (This game may come down to special teams). Washington rebounds from their loss to Glenn and beats a struggling Bremen team 20-13 (Too much youth on Bremen's team).
  6. I will refrain from using that word that is offensive to some? Statistics for you GoldRush: From 2009-2018 Penn's Record vs. Valpo: 10-3 and they have outscored Valpo in those 13 meetings 305-118 From 2009-2018 Penn's Record vs. Mish: 7-5 and they have outscored MIsh in those 12 meetings 305-229 Still believe Valpo is consistently better than Mishawaka? Not in the past ten seasons they aren't! I'd also like to point out that in those 10 years, Penn has never shut Mishawaka out...they shut Valpo out twice. It's NOT a scheduling issue...it's a choice to play Valpo instead of Mishawaka because they are offended Mishawaka would leave the NIC while Penn is "stuck" there.
  7. For you GoldRush: The PC answer: Penn is extremely upset with Mishawaka's decision to leave the NIC. In order to show their disapproval of Mishawaka's decision, Penn has decided to not schedule Mishawaka. The NOT PC answer: Penn doesn't like the rules set forth by Mishawaka so they're taking their ball and going home.
  8. Since 2003, Penn's record & scores vs. teams in the "south" and also teams from "out of state" (including Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central, St. Mary's, St. X, etc.): 9-18 with scores of: Losses include scores of: 13-7, 10-7, 57-7, 38-3, 54-0, 28-13, 14-13, 28-16, 21-10, 24-21, 14-10, 63-14, 21-7, 27-24, 20-0, 38-32, 30-20, 35-27 Wins include scores of: 15-7, 7-6, 17-7, 29-7, 14-7, 10-7, 38-0, 38-17, 20-17 According to your definition of a "blow out" Gold Rush, Penn's been blown out in 7 of their losses and have actually only "blown out" 3 opponents in their wins. Fact is that there is NOT MUCH competition in the northern half of the state when it comes to 6A. That being said, IF Penn fails to make it to semi-state, that's a bad year for Penn because based on their own enrollment, they are one of the largest schools in the "north"...because like Bobref said, it's hard to call any HCC or MIC school a northern school. Back to my point: Penn is sad because Mishawaka left them in a conference that doesn't travel well or prepare Penn in ANY way...not only in football, but MANY other sports.
  9. 21 points is NOT a butt whipping. ESPECIALLY when the ball bounces the wrong/right way. Penn is slipping while the numbers have decreased (EVERYWHERE, not just at Penn) and also while the Rugby program is taking off and growing. Penn is not and will not be a dominant force in the STATE (dare I say) EVER again. The MIC and the teams in the south have proven time and time again that they are at a different level than Penn and anyone else in the north (in 6A). So while Penn may want to play better competition to see where they are in terms of comparison to the rest of the teams in the state, the fact is this: Penn is butt-hurt because Mishawaka jumped ship and left them in an overall weak conference (in terms of ALL sports, not just football) with no gate for the foreseeable future. Scheduling Cathedral is SMART for Penn...quality program with some of Indy's best athletes. My guess is that Cory and his staff WANT to play Mishawaka but the administration is to blame on this. But ditching Mishawaka to play Valpo is Penn's way of saying, "I'm going to take my ball and go home if Mishawaka is going to leave and play with other schools". Kind of childish!
  10. GoldRush, you said it: "Penn gets more from losing to elite programs than BEATING NIC COMPETITION." This is one reason why Mishawaka was SMART in leaving the NIC. The NIC is NOT a powerful conference, its simply a large conference. That being said, Mishawaka is now in a conference that competes well in almost all sports and travels well in all sports. Penn is simply left holding the bill in the NIC right now and out of frustration, is refusing to keep Mishawaka on their schedule. I'd argue that even though the series as a whole has not been competitive, as of late, its been a very good rivalry (and one that DOES prepare Penn for a state run I'd like to add). IF the PHM administration is smart, they'd simply leave to another conference or go independent much like St. Joe and Marian were about 15 years ago. Choose your own schedules/opponents.
  11. Bremen at Marian - Marian in a blowout. 49-7 Jimtown at Concord, Concord wins this by hanging on at the end. 27-24 Mishawaka at Central Central at home in a high scoring game. 41-37 New Prairie at Adams New Prairie in another high scoring game. 51-28 Penn at St. Joseph Penn rolls in this one. 35-3 Riley at Clay Riley handles the Colonials. 40-6 Washington at Glenn Washington in a close one. 20-16
  12. Central at St. Joseph ©, 7 pm Glenn at Knox, 7:30 pm Marian at Jimtown ©, 7 pm New Prairie at Mishawaka ©, 7:30 pm Adams at Penn ©, 7 pm Clay at Bremen ©, 7 pm Riley at Washington ©, 7 pm Central over St. Joe: Not sure St. Joe will get things turned around yet. Knox over Glenn: Glenn is not enough for a hard-nosed Knox team. Marian over Jimtown: Marian has just too many weapons on the outside. New Prairie over Mishawaka: This game may only last an hour. Penn over Adams: Who coaches The Eagles next season? Bremen over Clay: A young Bremen team is still better than Clay. Riley over Washington: Wildcats in a close one.
  13. The reason the MIC, Fort Wayne, and NLC conferences are so good is that they are competitive in ALL sports and are relatively the same in size. Unfortunately, Bremen, Glenn, & Jimtown just CAN'T compete in the NIC in football and/or other sports year in and year out simply due to their enrollment. That being said, could/should their conference schedule prepare them for tournament time? Absolutely! But if I'm one of the smaller schools in this conference, I'm looking to get out. At the same time, besides basketball, I'm not sure I'd want to be in a conference with SBCSC schools. Again...just my 2 cents.
  14. NIC is NOT what it used to be in terms of competition: Riley: Never really relevant. Adams: Has not lived up to the hype of their enrollment and their coach. Clay: Should disband their football program. Washington: Struggling to keep numbers. Marian: Solid 3A program. St. Joe: Failed to continue its success after the Downey Boys. Jimtown: Sort of a fish out of water in the NIC. New Prairie: SOLID football program. Penn: In a class (6A) by themselves is never a good thing. Mishawaka: LEAVING (good for MHS, not for the NIC). Bremen: See Jimtown Glenn: See Jimtown They hung their hat on being the largest conference in the state and I think they are regretting that decision from both a competitive and financial stand point. Just my 2 cents...which is actually worth 1/2 of a penny. LOL
