  1. NA up 42-38 with 3:32 to go in the game. East failed on a 4th and 2 from own 28. NA scored three plates later.
  2. 38-35 East 1:03 left in the third. East extremely conservative on offense after being up 10. Big run by NA and now tight again
  3. Return the kickoff back 21-21 after 2 pt conversion. 8:25 left 2nd Q
  4. Don't get me wrong Gaddis was a good coach but East had a tremendous run of talent through the program and talent is down in Columbus overall as @Frozen Tundra or somebody said PAAL football numbers are way down. Columbus used to have a solid travel team know as the Diesel which is no longer around as well. Vogel and staff are solid coaches and as I have said in the past contributed more than any of you ever can know to the success of Gaddis teams. North has gotten more talent of late because they appear to work harder on younger kids to convince them to come to North and play "big boy" football since they are 6A. I know this from first hand experience. From what I see talent will be down for a few years, I don't know the numbers or athletes in 6,7,and 8th grades so not sure if current players will develop to play at previous levels or if there is a "calvary" coming in a few years from middle school levels.
  5. I just flat out disagree, Gaddis would have ran the same play on first down with 2 minutes and change on the clock inside Seymour's 25. The kid just fumbled. He doesn't fumble you force them to use time outs and likely run the clock out. Gaddis wouldn't have prevented the kickoff return for a TD either. Kids either make plays or they don't. The team is very young and doesn't have depth of talent it has had in the past. Vogel is a good coach, Miller and team are good coaches, they basically ran the team the last several years to a great degree. It is not on the coaches in my opinion nor am I calling out players just stating facts. I think this team will get better but they will have to fight and execute with minimal mistakes to win games.
  6. He is Alan Perry's brother (former QB) and is a good athlete and can run a little bit. East needs to pressure him and hopefully get him rattled.
  7. The last sentence is true but he knew when to get out. This is the least talent East has had In 15 years or more and the lower levels lack numbers as well so it will be tough sledding for a bit.
  8. I think he was getting ready to hold the ball up in the air in celebration.
  9. While Whiteland is a tough opponent and has a tough scheme to defend it is 95% run based. Tonight I think North will be more balanced and East defense will struggle more than last week due to the ability to throw as well as run. Offensively we don't have much game breaking speed so big plays are likely to allude us and our ability to throw the ball has been suspect. Sustaining drives has been difficult due to a more plodding nature. Hopefully the team keeps improving like East teams of old but I feel like this game could be uglier than last week for East. I hope I am wrong.
  10. I think that is our main challenge not enough depth and I am skeptical he will get much time on offense unless it is goal line. If others struggle to produce then maybe he gets a shot but then conditioning comes into play on defense. East is pretty used to playing 22 guys and this year that may be difficult to do and compete against the better teams. If that is the case and we have to play more guys both ways it may have us wearing down late in games which is the opposite of how things have been for a long time.
  11. According to the polls Whiteland is supposed to be East especially playing at Whiteland. I think if it is close at half it will be a good game, if Whiteland runs out early it will likely be ugly.
  12. Too few returning starters and depth and size is thin. I think this group can be solid this year and next but the JV was rolled by their JV and size and speed is an issue. Going to be the first time in a long time that you may see more than a few guys going both ways a bit which is unusual for East but may be necessary given the inexperience overall
  13. Agreed but talent at both has waned a bit. I think both of the equations will be down a bit based on the talent I have seen at lower levels but they never cease to surprise and perform. Hopeful they have a strong year next year for all involved.
  14. I am not sure I agree. I think Coach Hilly becomes the offensive coordinator too. Vogel has really been leading the team to a great degree over the last several years. Don’t get me wrong. It is a great staff and Gaddis is a legend. Moving back to 5A will help East as talent will be down.
  15. as expected by me, Eddie Vogel has been named the new head football coach at Columbus East. He is a great hire.
  16. May be true. He is the head of the math department but Millet is also a Dean so who knows in regards to responsibilities and preferences. Both solid.
