Really? I mean I pay $10 for a family of 4 to watch. Im saving money. Not counting the fact im not buying food or anything at the game or gas to drive there. Dont know why you wouldn't do it if you were willing to go to the game.

People (like me) watch games who wouldnt or cant go to them.    I watch games from places outside my area.   Games I would not attend.  I dont have the money I had before 2020 so obviously, I cant pay for them..

I appreciate school athletic departments needing money and broadcasts cant be done for free.

But when you limit the number of people who can watch (which pay per view does) , you are also hurting the clients you do sell advertising too and limiting the exposure your athletes get.

A solution?: Broadcast for free and make the broadcast a telethon for the media outlet and the host school's athletic department.    People who are able probably would donate..

You would get max viewers and still rake in needed cash.

While we’re at it, I have a problem with the name “Steelers,” and the heritage for which it stands. It is well documented that, in its early days, the steel industry in this country shamefully exploited the working class, often comprised of racial and ethnic minorities. From deplorable working conditions enforced by strike-breaking thugs, to establishment of company towns, where the employer controlled virtually every aspect of the workers’ lives, the Carnegies and the US Steels were as oppressive to their work force as any plantation slave owner. Why do we glorify them in Pittsburgh? Shameful!

Oh, Lord no.  Please dont make this argument, B.    Early steel mills (before unions) may have been oppressive. But they were nothing like slavery.

Slaves were never paid and they were captives.. They were beaten, castrated, mutilated and hung. Slave women were raped on call.  Children were beaten if they tried to learn.

Early mills and wage-sucking 'company stores' were severly unfair but all industry exploits the working class to some extent.....//I think Steelers is a proud but flawed heritage..We can argue that.

But slaves were human farm animals.

I dont like it when (and I know you are not doing this) minority college athletes compare themselves to modern day slaves..  It indicates they know little about slavery.

Yes, lets continue to cancel every damn thing in life.

Its fine to play a week later against another team.  But not a week earlier in a scrimmage.

The incredible weakness of this country is staggering right now.

Calm down.  Its just a scrimmage.

Its not 'fine' to play a week later but that decision has been made.

If we want to play on the 21st, dont risk it on the 14th.

    Not a big deal.

I wouldn't worry to much about canceled scrimmages.  Some teams that have had a case or two would rather make SURE they are ready for game one which is infinitely more important than a scrimmage.

Agreed, all scrimmages should be cancelled.  In the best of years, they just let everyone get on the field against unfamiliar faces..

This year, they could put your guys in quarantine.

Kids will do that. Challenge them to do something different.

Pass out seat cushions for kids to put between each other.

Make every night costume night.......Have therm dress up as health care workers......with full (fake) medical outfits to protect themselves...

Have them dress up in astronaut space suits...or as AquaMan......or in full body hot dog outfits...so they're covered up and cant spread the virus...

Schedule the older boys and girls to have a 'Divorce Night'

...... where you sit as far away from your girlfriend as possible....  (too much?)

I wonder about the student sections.  The idea of families sitting close is fine as long as they maintain social distance from other families.  But student sections have always been kids close to other kids.

    Right, P-fan

You cant have student sections..........They have to spread out .......if they want to come to the game.

In a perfect world, sure. But, if an offer has been made and the kid accepts(signs LOI), now the school has an investment; whether they redshirt or not. They have one less scholarship available for the year. In my 28 years now of coaching, I have no doubt many of those kids will be told to not play. Even if it is 1%, there is still an impact on the game or the team directly involved. In this area, St. Francis, NAIA is playing in the Spring, so that may take more kids out of the picture.

Obviously, nothing is certain. I do believe the IHSAA is now all in on the season being this Fall, no matter what happens. We will not see an entire system shut down like we did in March with ALL schools statewide. Now, things could get bad enough to warrant that, but I cringe at the thought of how bad that would be.

I hear you about the 1%.........but I dont want a shutdown.  Then everybody loses

I agree with you about the IHSAA.    They do not hint that spring football is something they've ever thought about..

I want to be at Crown Point-Lowell on Aug. 21  (the traditional south Lake County opener up here....goes back 100 years)  but schools are postponing, delaying and cancelling up here..  Its discouraging.

Well it sad for those kids.  Same it was in basketball and baseball in march.  But because 3 or even 5 counties in indiana decide not to look at cdc numbers you can't take football away from rest.   At some point common sense has to take over and people stop watching CNN telling us we are all gonna die.

again..move it to the spring and nobody gets anything taken....That's common sense....  100% play instead of 75%

    2 choices.....everybody or 3/4 of everybody

Feeling more and more  like this season is going to be a no go!

I'm sad. Morton had an outstanding quarterback.. He is a senior.

Clark and Gavit (Hammond schools) are consolidating....in the summer of 2021

This is end of their school......and they cant play one last year.    Clark has played football since before WWII....and they cant play one final game?  One Last Dance?
