  1. Took a pretty good hit in the first quarter vs Bremen last Friday, stayed down a few minutes while the trainer looked him over and did not return. Way he was holding his arm it looked to be a shoulder or collarbone issue. There was a short segment on the 46 broadcast of the game where they were very gently removing his pads and jersey while trying not to move the arm up or out away from his body. Maybe he gets back, heard he is a pretty tough kid.
  2. Angola -- Clay is trying and Angola is not of the caliber they have been in recent years, but this is not close. Doubt Coach Thomas will let it get completely out of hand. JV should play 2nd half. Bremen -- Bremen will win handily, but not hang 69 on Prairie Heights like Eastside did. Needed week to let some guys heal and get the JV some playing time. Jimtown -- Washington will get better down the road, but the jimmes win by 4 tds, at least. Laville -- Lancers win easily, especially if Creed is out. New Prairie -- Cougars claw the Wildcats over and over and pull away in the second half. 4th quarter there is a running clock. Penn -- No undefeated team this week for the Kingsman. The Indians come at the right time for Penn to feel better and get a win. Elkhart -- Adams can't hang with them for a full game. This one gets one-sided by 2nd half. Not a great week for good match-ups in the NIC. The last couple of weeks will be much better. How many co-champs will there be in the South? Can Marian run the table and defeat their rival? Wasn't convinced back in August we would make it this far into the season, but glad we have. Good luck to all teams. Prayers for safe travels and good health.
  3. I would guess by the looks of it he has a more serious issue then a stinger. He was holding that arm close to his body bent at the elbow. Shoulder separation or collarbone? Looks like Bremen's lineman is going to play the year out and fix his shoulder after the season. Was really surprised to see him playing last night with what I heard leading up to the game. I really liked the coaches committing to the running game in the second half. About time they put the game on that offensive line. They should ride them the rest of this season and next season. They could be scary good with only losing one to graduation after this season. There are a couple others that can fill that one spot and make for one of the best lines in the area. They should have both speed and power backs to run behind it next year.
  4. No, believe he is still a go. Heard a different kid. Hopefully, they were wrong in thinking it might be a season ender. Having #54 still gives them a chance to run the ball maybe.
  5. The word from the diehards that stand along the fence during practice is that the Lions lost another two way lineman for the year last night in practice. Not going to say anymore without confirmation though. Guess we will see tomorrow night. Unfortunate that all of these injuries are happening to this team that had a promising start to the season. Especially during the week they get to be the 46 game of the week. If true, they just don't have enough quality depth to overcome all these season ending irjuries.
  6. The one in the walking boot had a tendon issue but has been back for the last two games. Seems to be fine now. Beleive the other lineman was held out for a possible concussion and general sickness last week. Did not even make it to the game. The WR dressed the last two weeks and would punt if needed. Maybe surgery at some point for a ligament issue? Waiting to see I beleive as it is a tricky thing because he is a very good basketball player as well. Not sure how that is going to play out for the rest of his junior year and then next year. A special teams player and back-up RB has a miniscus issue. It might be best to get it taken care of as needed as he is only a freshmen and don't want to comprimise his future. Then the player with the broken arm really hurts as well. He was an athlete that filled many roles and added key depth at lots of positions. No activity for 7 or 8 weeks for him, but he has said he will immediately start rehab to get back for baseball and will be playing football again his senior season. The roster is deep and talented enough to play with everyone left on the regular season schedule if they play to their strengths. As long as no more issues arise they should be on a level playing field with everyone in the sectional outside of Pioneer. Will be tough for anyone in that sectional to give them a scare I would think.
  7. Schedule bump? Washington hasn't really been in a game except for their win over a terrible Clay team. Overall, they probably have played better competition then Riley slightly. Riley has a couple straight wins and might feel a little better about themselves then Washington who just got whacked again. To be honest, who knows in this crazy season.
  8. Don't think Bremen, Jimtown and Glenn want to have that happen. Not many good options without a lot of other shuffling that would be hard to pull off. Travel would be a big sticking point as well for them to go a different direction. Had his hand planted on the ground trying to balance himself to keep running and got hit square in the middle of the forearm by the helmet of a tackler.
  9. Thought you would like that! 😄 I have noticed you enjoy some good natured back and forth banter. On a more serious note, prayers for complete healing to #28 on the Lions who left the field Friday with a severe break of the bones in his forearm. It was pretty gruesome watching it swaying back and forth. Tough kid to jump up and jog off the field on his own to the sideline. Think it shook his teammates for a bit in the first quarter as it was just his second game back after a year away to deal with another medical issue. Heard he had successful surgery yesterday morning to plate and pin everything back together.
  10. Bremen at Glenn -- Which version of both of these teams show up to play Friday? Anything you could look to for reasons to pick one team over the other apply to both. I will pick against the all knowing Turf Toe and keep my faith on the Lions to pull out a close one and salvage a decent season despite growing injuries adding to already poor depth. Elkhart at St. Joseph -- St. Joe has come a ways since week one, but it is not enough to hold off a good Elkhart team. Marian at Penn -- Would like to be bold and go with Marian, but think Penn will have just enough to slip by the well assembled parochial. Adams at New Prairie -- Adams just doesn't have enough against the Cougars. Clay at Jimtown -- Easy Friday night for Jimtown. Riley at Washington -- Wildcats get fat on another cupcake.
  11. I would agree Jimtown took it to them on their long drive to take the lead, but Bremen drove it right back down the field by running it right at Jimtown to score with a minute and a half left. If you are going for the win at that point, then do what is your strength. As a matter of a fact, do it all night. With three two way starters not playing depth was going to be an issue. The Lions need to grind it out, keep the clock moving and shorten the game. They have enough talent upfront to play smash-mouth. Mix in some short passing game and stop with the 50-50 balls deep.
  12. One two way lineman came back last Friday in the win over Triton and had no setbacks. Looks like as of today a different lineman will be out for a couple of weeks. Everyone else who had missed time should be good to go for Jimtown if the week progresses well. The Lions added a new playmaker last week who had not played since his freshmen year due to a medical concern that has since changed. Very happy for this young man. Since the start of the season the already strong core of juniors has added back 3 players who provide more depth.
  13. Bremen over Jimtown even though a couple starters may be out for the Lions. Knox over Glenn in a close game. Redskins are getting use to the new system. Marian by at least 3 scores over Adams. Marian has too much talent. Elkhart proves to be too much for Penn. Riley gets in the win column versus West Side. Does Riley have some ineligible/injured players? New Prairie pulls it out at home versus St. Joe. Washington over Clay. One team has to win I guess
  14. Bremen also had a two way lineman out for the game against Washington . They will need both back to stay in the game with the Knights. I like the chemistry of this Bremen team. They always play hard and together. They gained valuable experience last season when they were overmatched in many games. I like he prospects of this team for the next couple of seasons. Not a lot of depth though, so as always with a smaller school, the Lions will need to stay healthy.
