  1. The cadets will be down after losing most if not all of their playmakers on both sides of the ball. 3-6/4-5 range in the SAC. By the time playoffs come around, I think they’ll get a favorable draw with Norwell losing a good senior class as well and could make a run. Snider and Carroll will battle for the Victory Bell. Dwenger and Homestead will be right behind. Snider is the only one of those 4 that didn’t really lose much to graduation. Snider could legitimately be a threat in 5A. Strong defense, playmakers on offense with a big line. Just need to iron out the Qb situation. As far as Luers goes, I’m not sure why so many are already penciling them in as state champions?? I think in conference Luers next year is 3-6/4-5 like Concordia, with the winner being 4-5 lol. Playoff wise, it’s no gimme. They will most likely have Eastside, Fairfield and Adams Central in their sectional. Regional they’ll see the likes of Eastbrook, Tipton and semi state could see matchups with LCC or Pioneer. All of those teams are capable of beating Luers and very well could if the Knights don’t play 48 minutes of Luers football. All those picking Luers to win it, yes they could but I wouldn’t bet on it.
  2. Let me do a little research on the guys coming back next year and I’ll post it. Some positions there’s more than one guy we can put out there so it’ll take some time. Forgive me as well as I’m also at work at the moment 😆
  3. As far as building a 6A power goes, that’s a possibility but not a foregone certainty. Where the FW area schools lack compared to Indy metro schools is offensive and defensive line size. It’s hard to compete with teams who have guys across the board who are 6’4-6’7 and anywhere from 265 to 305 per guy. We just don’t have that kind of size here minus a few outliers (Randy Holtz, Joe Tippmann)
  4. We’ll see how the basketball season plays out but if the past few seasons are any indicator, North will struggle and it doesn’t sound like it’s gonna get better in the foreseeable future. The whole transfer thing is just something I thought was interesting given the number of transfers sac schools have had over the past few years strictly due to athletic reasons.
  5. Dwengers track record of integrating transfers isn’t the greatest. They’re very proud of their 2 deep consisting of feeder school CYO kids. If anywhere, Snider and Luers seem like likely the 2 best options. I only say Luers because of the passing game they bring back. I’d think any high level athlete would wanna be apart of that. Agreed. Very humble and gets the best out of his players.
  6. North sides team that had so much success this year was filled with seniors and not many underclassmen key players. With not much coming back to work with, I kind of expected a move like this. Had he stayed, he’d essentially be starting all over. Big question here to me is this: where does 6’3 freshman receiver Brontae Johnson go? Stay at north or transfer?? And if transfer, to where?
  7. Exactly my point. The Luers teams from 2007-2012 that won 5 out of 6 2A state championship games were filled with great athletes. They just don’t have the same caliber of talent anymore.
  8. I mostly stick to my local teams threads. Seems like much discussion has taken place about those other schools so looks like I have some threads to read! lol 😂 To be fair to Luers though, they aren’t like the Indy area p/p’s that cycle in great classes year in years out, they really have struggled to get the kids they have and keep them. They aren’t as well off as some may think.
  9. See that’s exactly the train of thought I was having on the topic. There really seems to be a lot of distaste for Luers on this forum. I don’t think state titles or the catholic thing have much to do with it because if that did then Chatard and cathedral would be the most “disliked” of all.
  10. Meaning yesterday when Luers lost, there was celebration negative comments from certain posters about the knights. Now with covenant beating south adams, I’m not hearing the outrage of a private beating a public.
  11. Congrats to CC. My question is where is all the talk about P/P vs public?? It seems to me like that debate only takes place when it happens outside of the Indy metro area. Then it’s Frowned upon. Just my take away.
  12. They won’t be that good. Compared to the pioneers, eastsides, and mater dei’s of the world, they won’t fare well.
  13. Another question I have @Bobref is on the rule on fair catch. In high school do you have to give the defense a window of time to get away from the receiver? Seemed like potentially the last punt fair catch was called a little late and the contact was simply off of unstoppable momentum and not anything malicious.
  14. So in this case the penalties should have offset and webo shouldn’t have gotten the 15 yards based on the rule? Or I could be misinterpreting it.
  15. Warren Central from 2003-06. Luers from 09-12. Warren from 2003-06. Luers from 2009-12 but I think you’re right about them being the first in the SF era to 3peat.
  16. Very sad for these Luers kids to have a game be decided that way. I thought when they got the ball back with 1:55 that they shouldn’t of been conservative. Stay true to who you are and drive the ball downfield but hey. Now it’s on to next year, your goal remains the same. This loss should fuel you to be better. This is a great thing for everyone on this thread/forum who hates parochial and private schools. It’s like Christmas come a few weeks early! I’m not sure why there is so much hate, but enjoy basking in it. Much respect to Webo. Hard fought game.
  17. If I’m webo, I do what I do best and run my workhorse in Taylor. Those blast and dive plays mixed with a play action to Garrity here and there should be the play book for the second half.
  18. I don’t know how it is now but when I was there many years ago, former players would call, send texts, write letters and come talk to us at practice and games reminding us of just how important it was to carry on the winning tradition. That was throughout the whole year. So to us, if we left Indianapolis without that State championship, we didn’t accomplish our goal and our season was a failure. No moral victories for us. I’m sure Kyle (Lindsay) has his team approaching this week the same way.
  19. That would be Bishop Luers in the ‘89 Semi State 33-12 👀. That ‘89 Luers team was a tough nosed bunch. They loved to run the football with over 3000 team yards. Fred Moore was arguably the best back in the state that year with just over 2000 to finish the season. He was electric ⚡️
  20. We can only hope! Webo defensively I think is more sound than pioneer, however I do think Luers will be able to exploit the holes in that secondary.
  21. That’s if they get down by 10. What happens if it’s a repeat of the semi state for Luers? Also, I wasn’t implying that webo had a threatening pass game or anything like that, just that their offense is similar to pioneers but they can and will throw a pass here and there. Regardless, Luers’ defense needs to play their very best game of the year.
