Never doubted the state championships, but win totals? C’mon man…you’re reaching pretty deep for some flexes these days.
Of course you are going to lead the state in wins when you spent how many decades as the only school north of Indy with 2500+ kids and play in a JV conference.
But #1 in 2023…
Yep. That’s it.
I’m sure the folks in central Indy would trade all of their hardware for regular season wins over Elmhurst, Harding, South Bend Adams and New Prairie.
Penn has a high bar but on the surface it’s impossible to “fail” at Penn.
7 guaranteed wins annually just by showing up.
I’d hope that the 1985 in your username is your birth year but I’m willing to bet it isn’t, which is sad.
Go hug your great grand kids.
Penn isn’t relevant anymore but maybe they will be when your grand kids are all grown up.
Down here in Indy we like to call that supporting evidence…
Even you have to admit that a defense that has the name “The Wild Bunch” getting abused is ironic and low key hilarious.
Eh. More of a north versus south sorta thing.
Plus, those didn’t happen on the biggest stage.
And Penn has been on the receiving end of those multiple times which makes them an easy target.
Warren (2003) and Ben Davis (2017) could have scored 100 in those games if they wanted to.
Sorry.
You could be right as I am misremembering but weren’t you just clamoring for a top 3-4 seed for Crown Point in a hypothetical seeded playoff?
And now a regional loss (to presumably Carroll) would still be a successful season?
Ok, so what does a successful season for Crown Point entail in your mind?
I’ve gone public with my picks.
Easy first round victory over Lake Central.
2 possession win over Penn.
Nail biter against Carroll where they escape.
Blowout loss to Carmel.
Your turn.
I will agree that the transitive property is just one data point and comparing Ben Davis to Crown Point SOLELY based on one game is short sighted.
However, what about taking a look at the rest of Pike’s schedule?
1. Crown Point beats Pike by 21.
2. Zionsville (who Temp has just outside the top 25) beats Pike by 20.
3. Lawrence Central (who Temp has had ranked in the teens for the most part) beats Pike by 29.
4. Warren Central (who Temp has had just outside the top 10) beats Pike by 3.
5. Lawrence North (who Temp has had in the top 5 for the most part of the year) beats Pike by 35.
I’ve long stated that Crown Point can only beat the teams on its schedule but the three of the four data points above point to Crown Point being a fringe top 20 team.
If they get the opportunity to play Carmel, they’d better hope week 9 Carmel shows up.
Exactly how @Indiana Fan did in the other post.
Let the better seed host the first two rounds and then move the last three rounds to neutral sites.
Back when Ben Davis and Warren Central were dominating the sport I advocated for an East/West split but even now that would not do much good because there are so many schools right on the line of 31/65.
Oh well. Point still stands.
Assuming one must’ve played the sport and meet a certain height or weight requirement to talk about the sport is close-minded nonsense.
