    greener pastures

    not a longer season

i just want to cram 10 extra games into the season we already have is that to much to ask for

the hell is this auto merging my responses im trying to farm reputation here

It's like the mythical State Champions of the 30's and 40's... there are many here who would question the logic of those crowns. There are even some National champions claimed after they played maybe one OOS team. In 1928 Ashland High School of Ashland, KY won the mythical state championship and played Jefferson Senior High School in Roanoke, VA. Ashland steamrolled Jefferson and claimed a National Championship. Some of the oldtimers said it was the East against the West for the championship. Even though both teams were undefeated I'm sure there were other undefeated teams that would argue.

It's clear the NFL wants the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, due to the Swift Factor.   Millions more swifties watching the SB would be an even greater ratings bonanza!

It is a partnership, Swift's popularity zooms, and NFL viewers increase. Hells Bells have her on next year for the SB halftime entertainment. Grab that brass ring while you can... it's not forever.

My "OH MY" teams of the week are all the teams in and north of Lafayette.  In the last 4 years there have been 24 teams win championships, and only 3 have been in and north of Lafayette.  LCC in 2019, Andrean in 2021, and Valparaiso in 2022.  No team north of Lafayette has ever won state in 6A.  In 5A there was Valparaiso in 2022, Fw Snider in 2015 and Penn in 2000.  In 4a there was Fw Dwenger in 2018 and 2015 and Lowell in 2005.  In 3A West Lafayette won state in 2018, Fw Concordia in 2016, Andrean in 2013 and West Lafayette in 2009.  In 2A Andrean won in 2021, Rensselaer in 2014 and FW Luers 2009-2012.  In 1A LCC won state in 2019, Pioneer in 2017-2018, LCC in 2015 and LCC 2009-2012.  This year it might be a clean sweep for teams south of Lafayette again.  In 6A this year you have Brownsburg, Ben Davis and maybe Center Grove.  In 5A Bloomington South looks really good.  They beat Brebeuf  51-26.  In 4A there is East Central.  3A you have Chatard and Gibson Southern.  In 2A there is Triton Central and North Posey,  and in 1A you have Lutheran.

In the 1940's -1970's, South Bend schools and Gary (area) schools had some of the best teams in the state.  South Bend Washington won state in 1973 and was 10-0 in 1943 and 9-1 in 1942.  Their only loss was to East Chicago Washington.  Mishawaka Marian won state in 1975 and 76.  Portage won state in 1977.  I was just thinking about all the good teams in the north through the years.  Penn, Jimtown, Griffith and many others. There doesn't seem to be many great teams north of Lafayette these days like there was years ago.  South Bend schools today, Oh My!

If you mention Portage winning state in 1997 you must mention Hobart 1987, 1989, 1991, and 1993.

“After the ball is ready for play and before the snap begins, no false start shall be made by any A player. It is a false start if:

        c. Any A player on his line between the snapper and the player on the end of his line, after having placed a hand(s) on or near the ground, moves his hand(s) or makes any quick movement.”

So, the TE can pick up. Interior linemen may not.

So if the Center is bobbing up and down prior to the snap is that a violation? For clarification, the motion does not move the ball the movement is confined to the hips and knees.

IMO, this is one of the unintended — and negative — consequences of the coaches’ vote system of advancement. There are crews out there who believe, rightly or wrongly, that enforcing the uniform rules as we’re supposed to has a negative impact on their coaches’ vote. So, they look the other way when a kid comes out for warmups with his face painted like he’s auditioning for a role in Braveheart, or with pants that don’t even qualify as Bermuda shorts.

Well said about that face paint... I was done with it when it started bleeding over into MS Track! Kids faces pained up like the Endman in a Minstrel Show!

We had a player from the visiting team ordered by the crew to cover his knees completely.

As the player was coming to the sidelines he's all WTF'ing and "I've been wearing them this way all f'ing season (to his coaches)
The officials did make sure that he knew he wasn't playing unless his pads covered his knees and that the coaches were reminded that this was covered in pre-game.

I was under the impression the knees being covered was always a requirement.

Are the players complaints a result of other crews not enforcing the requirements?

It's a problem with some of the hot dogs that want to look cool. It's not NCAA or NFL you little jag, cover your knees or get the flag. If the officials are not checking it they are not doing their jobs. Some coaches will argue the rule and encourage the practice. Why I do not know why... I have heard lame a$$ed s**t such as the pants are not long enough, not designed for knee pads, and uncomfortable.  Quit pushing boundaries! I don't care how many studies you have in your hip pocket tha the pads off NO protection. Its a rule until the NFHS decides to change it.

I retract. There is still some purity left in high school game. The next two levels become a clown show.

Ok I’ll try and respond to all these with one post:

    1. I believe the IFCA has tried to push forward “only seed the top 2” in each sectional…which is better than nothing- but still kind of the lazy way out.

    2. As far as closed conferences and no common opponents- you simply have to set seeding criteria and go with it. It may leave some “head-scratchers” - but ultimately it’s better than 1-9 being in the Championship game while 8-1 goes home.
In wrestling- if head to head and no commons, you go to past performance (if applicable- Past State placer)- obviously this wouldn’t happen for football. Then win %, etc…

Football would need to set their own- but it could follow something similar.

    3. I honestly have no idea what the obstacles are from seeding- except the fact that half of the football coaches don’t want it because they could “luck out” and get the “good draw” or whatever. To me I just want some value to a good regular season….

Sorry for the choppy messages/response- trying to type on a smartphone

    Back to the Cluster System?
