And seeing how it’s all played out now over the past 6 or 7 years it’s basically the old NSC minus Triton, Culver and NP while adding Tippy Valley.  I get why it was done but the old NSC basically got blown up for Triton and Culver.

Culver and NJ were the two that asked MWC to join. Other schools said no in that conference

Caston, Winamac, Pioneer along with NJ and Culver started the talks.  Knox decided to come along.

The HNAC invited West Central, North White,Triton and LaVille...latter two said yes.

North White dragged its feet. West Central asked and got approved. Nw then tried and got told no.

HNAC has invite letters out to Cass, N Miami, Rochester and S Central.  Not sure any will bite- Cass I could see more interested in TRC as they tried to get in there when MIC dissolved.

I could HNAC getting absorbed by TRC

    Division 1

Manchester, Rochester, Winamac, Culver, Caston, Triton, North Miami

    Division 2

Wabash, Southwood, Northfield, Lewis Cass, Pioneer, Peru, and Maconaquah

The two outliers. North Judson and Whitko probably would have to find new homes.

Hasn't Winamac actually yo-yo'd?  They were 1A back in the 2012-2014 stretch ... lost a regional game to LCC after beating Tri-County, Noll, and West Central.  Bumped up to 2A around the 2015-2016 seasons; culminating in a regional lost to Whiting.  Dropped back down to 1A in 2017 and just recently bounced back up in 2022 to 2A.

That's what will probably be happening for awhile.  I don't think Winamac will settle in 2a or 1a for long periods in football.  Basketball and baseball they'll always be 2a.

No official announcement. 6 schools are locked in according to school officials. Waiting to hear word from two other schools who were invited.

Yes. Those 6 are locked in and from what it seems the other remaining HNAC schools are locked in as well.

If you compare the enrollment of Blackford County Schools from last year to this year, every elementary cohort has gone down by an average of just over 6 students.  Meanwhile, the enrollment in each of the same cohorts at Southern Wells has gone up by an average of 6 students.  That may not seem like a big deal, but it’s relevant when each cohort at Blackford has around 115 students and SW has around 70.  And that’s just the number who transferred after Montpelier Elementary closed at the end of last year.

Going down a rabbit hole here - looking at the public transfer data for this year, it shows that Blackford County Schools have 1752 students who live in their district, and 139 of them choose to attend Southern Wells.  The majority of those transfers live in or around Montpelier and live closer to SW than Blackford.  The 2nd highest number of transfers out of Blackford’s district is 38 students who go to Eastbrook.  Blackford has a net public transfer rate (49 incoming minus 305 outgoing) of -256.  That is a massive financial hit when you consider the state’s tuition support for each student is around $6000 per year.  Meanwhile SW has a net public transfer rate of +185.  In addition to the large number who come to SW from Blackford, they also get quite of few (69) from Warren that live in Huntington’s district.

SW does lose 68 students to Bluffton, but 31 from Bluffton come to SW for a net of -37.  Bluffton gains a lot (226) from Norwell, most of which probably live on the north side of Bluffton which is actually Norwell’s district.  81 from Bluffton’s district go to Norwell so the Tigers have a net gain of 145 with NW.  Bluffton’s overall net transfers are +160.  Norwell has a net transfer rate of +112, with the largest number coming from Fort Wayne Community and Huntington (Markle).

In your home county of Adams, Bellmont is in a similar situation as Blackford.  They have a net transfer rate of -281.  270 of their outgoing transfers go to Adams Central.  AC has a net transfer rate of +279.  I don’t think there are very many of those transfers who are from low income families or students who have special needs.  That contributes to a noteworthy difference in the demographics of AC compared to Bellmont and South Adams.  SA basically breaks even with their net transfer rate of -16.

How do you know all this

And it's still being questioned as to why he won Mr. Football when he was at Pioneer. Sometimes you just have to sit back, scratch your head, and laugh.

Him and Bowen were both worthy of being the first small school Mr footballs.

Still kinda goofy Nick Zachary didn't get it or Danny/Jackson Anthrop.

What about McCulley?  Seems to have been wasted so far in his career

any momentum from the fortunate Covid year has been dashed and then some.  But I also recognize their placement in EAST has hurt too

Allen has had issues keeping guys on staff. They've lost DeBoer, Womack, Hart and McCullough.

What really killed 2021 season was all the damn injuries. 2022 was imo even worse (not injury wise, overall)

It should be McCulley now. He's just as good of athlete as Williams and neither one can really throw so why not.

Purdue will be seeing it soon too. USC and UCLA coming into the West. Nebraska hiring Rhule and Wisconsin hiring Fickell.

It's gonna be rough times for both programs soon.

Yes. I hope that Cult University hires Tom Allen away.

They played Ohio State close for a half, remember?

August 2020:  "Indiana is the biggest threat to Ohio State in the Big Ten East."

Since that claim by many media members, the Hoosiers have gone 2-16 in Big Ten play.

How could they have gone 2-16 since that claim? IU won 6 big 10 games in 2020.

Decent first half. Should have had more points on the board. HATED seeing William go dow. That did not look good at all. With Bazelak, they could still move the ball, but way too inconsistent. I am not sure IU can afford to not change anything for next season.

IU keeping Allen over DeBoer was a massive mistake.  Losing Womack too killed.

It's unfortunate that assumptions are made about people who reside in rural areas.  Yes, I live in a rural setting.  But I'm highly educated and know a fair bit about private education.  I will not speak poorly of private schooling, but I do enjoy seeing public schools overcome their disadvantages to beat similar-sized private schools.

I think rural public schools can be at an disadvantage compared to other public schools.

Take schools like Lewis Cass, LaVille, heck even Triton.

Cass is between Logansport and Kokomo.

LaVille probably could get some Glenn kids, SB kids and maybe some Plymouth.

Triton I believe probably could peel off some Warsaw, Plymouth and Northwood.

Not saying those kids do, just using them as examples.

Chill man! We are going to State again! NJSP played hard and were in it the first half.

They did. I think Adams Central's speed is something you don't see very often around here.

Both 2021 and 2022 Adams Central were lightning quick. The only teams I see from the area that'd beat those 2 AC teams would probably be 2015,2017, 2018 and 2020 Pioneer teams and those teams just had insane speed.

When you have an experience team like Judson has and have great confidence in your maturity of your team, you as a staff can "work" on future opponents and schemes for game you can expect to play down the road.

We did this in 2014, played LCC, week 8, learned a lot from that game, and starting that next day Saturday and every practice forward we worked the "LCC Script" in preparations for the showdown in week 14, and sure enough we got there, sprinted to 14-0 1st Q lead, that does not happen if we do not put in all that extra time, older and mature teams/staffs can do this quite seamlessly,

@Bobref I believe its a BELL, which going back 13 weeks ago, has since been given a good workout

Great small town community matchup here, Im rooting for the JAYS, Region 4 squad with a friend of mine at the helm.  Hope they get it done, but as always a this time a year never is easy.

Leave you with this: " Big time players, make big time plays, in big time games".

Huge difference between your 2014 bombers vs the 2020 Jays.

You guys could be that cocky or arrogant because nobody was gonna match your teams speed.

That Judson team was just simply over confident. They didn't take Winamac serious enough and it back fired.

Will weather conditions adversely affect one team greater than another?  The ball can be slick when it's cold, so does this make this game closer?  Does it make any difference?

Game time temps will be in the 20s with the lows in the teens.  Who will handle the cold better?

I think if the field was pretty muddy and it was raining hard. That might slow AC down enough for NJ.

North Judson doesn't believe field conditions hurt any teams chances.

Going into the game last year I did not think it would be close and it wasn't. AC's team speed was too much for Judson and AC took it to them.

This year, I don't expect the same outcome. Lambert is a "one game at a time" coach, but you know they've been eyeing this rematch since the end of last year. I expect it to be a barn burner and hope the jays to sneak out the win.

    Judson: 36-34

One game at a time? They were preparing for LCC during sectionals in 2020. Stop.

    I'll say AC 28 Judson 13.

It would not shock me if Judson somehow won the game though.
