Will weather conditions adversely affect one team greater than another?  The ball can be slick when it's cold, so does this make this game closer?  Does it make any difference?

Game time temps will be in the 20s with the lows in the teens.  Who will handle the cold better?

Can the FB’s control the game in the cold temps. Both teams have good FB but NJ 235 lb guy may be bigger factor as a night of tackling him in the cold could take its toll.
How many triple option teams has AC faced?  How many wing-t teams has NJ faced?

  2. Would AC be unbeaten playing NJ schedule? I say doubtful

3A Knox NJ shutout 26-0 and Knox won a 3A sectional

2A Laville had to rally in fourth to tie game and won in OT to beat NJ

Laville went toe to toe with Drayk Bowen and Andrean for 3 1/2 q without their star QB

NJ returned nearly everyone and are year older.  I like the Bluejays to pull it off at home.  Think last year was a bit of happy to be there time for NJ.

AC had taken beatings from Pioneer and LCC last few times at SS level and were focused and ready to get job done. Yes it helps coaching staffs about as much as players to get that experience😉

I'm inclined to agree with this but I also remember the catch-that-wasn't in that Pioneer-North Vermillion game. It's a hard call because if you implement it for the finals inevitably people will start to clamor for it in every game.

If its available use it. Period

I think refs with lesser egos would for sure be for it. Why not? Takes the blame off them.  Bottom line get it right if you can. What’s the harm

  4. Panties bunched. Settle down AC

It’s perfectly fine if you’re not as good as last season, I don’t think you necessarily have to be to win the north.
NJ is kind of a crackerjack squad, you never know what you’re gonna get.

  5. Have to be honest here I have really not been terribly impressed by any of the teams in the north. Judson might be the best team I’ve seen but if you can slow their running game their kicking and passing games can be pretty suspect.

AC has the Qb but still think they are a pretty far cry from last year’s version.

Park Tudor and Carroll are pretenders.

Sheridan too sectional and schedule just doesn’t get me all fuzzy.

Lutheran is clearly head and shoulders above everyone else.

It's too bad Triton and LaVille could not have played at full strength.  Schuh at full strength could have changed that game.  Same for Plummer.  If he plays against Andrean it might have been a different outcome.  Nothing against Czarnecki, but Plummer would have added another weapon to the Lancer offense.  Same for Triton with a healthy Schuh.

Sadly this is the underlying story for many many teams at this time of year

”if we only had that guy”

People often ask what it takes to win a championship….a fully healthy team is generally a must.

Well, Triton held them to four TDs.  I think that was a pretty good effort defensively!  But the offense shot themselves in the foot too many times.  And of course the absence of Schuh really hurt.  Shively did what he could, but he needed help and he didn't have much.  Several dropped passes along the way.  No real running threat.  Plus poor field position in the second half.  Proud of the Trojans for closing the gap against the Jays.  Judson should cruise to their meeting with Adams Central.  And that one will be a dog fight!

    What happened to Schuh

Nick Zachery is up there and he never won Mr. Football. 4 year starter at QB, won 3 titles and a runner-up. Had 16 INT's between his jr and senior season and over 200 tackles. Scored TD's via punt return, kick return, INT, fumble recovery, rushing, and receiving. When he didn't win it I thought a 1A player would never win such an award. Many thought there would never be another Zachery.

Zachary was runner-up for Mr Football

    Pretty impressive

    Sometimes its about the timing

  9. If you were going to award it based on NFL talent neither Kiser or Bell would have won that year

    Karlaftis would have

Kiser was the best all-around player. I will take it a step further, had Kiser played for Warren Central he would have been QB tearing up the MIC and you wouldn’t have heard of Bell or Elliott.

6’2 220 and animal on football field. Also qualified for state finals in the 100, shot put and discus! Who does that?

    prove me wrong.

  10. I don’t believe this Andrean team is near as good as the one Pioneer beat two years ago.  Laville isnt that Pioneer team either but do they have enough to get it done? Losing Plummer is huge, he did a ton for Laville. Fantastic kicker and punter who ran their offense flawlessly.

Andrean getting their qb back doesn’t help Laville’s chances of course. The X-factor looks to be Bowen. Can he exert his will and get his teammates to follow thru?  5-star talent at playing at this level cannot be easily dismissed. Laville will have to play flawless to have a shot and I think Andrean will need to make some mistakes to help.

  11. ND is never the place to give untested coaches their first stint as a head coach.

combine that with poor coordinators and you get losses to Marshall and Stanford

they didnt change anything from Ohio State second half meltdown and never changed anything after Marshall debacle.

Still refuse to challenge a defense vertically and continue to play 100% nickel and dime on defense.

I fully expect the same going forward

Must have some tricks up sleeve for Triton!?

The first meeting was a dogfight for three quarters. Pioneer just has lapses of play where they throw a pick/fumble/ get a punt blocked for score/ start missing tackles etc.  Personally I dont think they are that far off being very competitive.  Final Scores dont reflect it as Their youth has been exposed a bit but best thing about all those freshmen starters is they become sophomores.

  13. By far??  You probably aren’t old enough to have watched Ken MacAfee in the 70’s, who finished third for the Heisman. Mayer is a great player absolutely but I wouldn’t say by far their best TE.  MacAfee would have been off the charts in today’s offenses.
