  1. Fair question - there were 4 or 5 late hit/unsportsmanlike penalties throughout the night, but fully understand that that may be more of a personal discipline issue. I should clarify that the majority of the players on the team don’t fit this statement, and maybe it only applies to a select few who played beyond the whistle. #5 and #1 for Luers, among others, were great examples of talented and respectful young men. Thanks for the question. Last years’ team was one of the best 2A teams to come through the area in recent seasons… it’s always a huge achievement when a small school puts the SAC on notice. This years’ team seems about two steps behind 2021’s team; lacks a lot of the spark you normally see, but still has great athletes.
  2. It’s a travesty that you comment about this game without mentioning that the Blazer’s starting QB went out in the 2nd quarter with a torn ACL while Eastside was in the lead. Shame on you. Luers attacked Eastside at their weakest point (their pass defense), and that proved to be key. Can’t help but imagine that if the QB stays in the game, Blazer’s style of play would have paid off in the second half and it would have been a closer game. The outcome is the outcome, and that can’t be changed, but this Luers team is not the juggernaut you claim them to be. Glad to see a team from NE Indiana continue on in the 2A tourney, but I wish it was a team with more class to do it.
  3. Well said! There is some intangible value to playing a style focused on physicality and controlling the LOS instead of finesse. The talent in Allen county is underrated on an entire state perspective, and I think the same could be said about the surrounding area in NE Indiana, albeit for a different type of appreciation.
  4. I think Luers needs to worry about the evil team from Turtle Town first… wouldn’t be surprised if the sectional final is between two NECC teams.
  5. I’m sure that Eastside team is not offended by this one bit since they were the ones representing the northeast against Andrean last season. They were awful happy to be a line item on that Luers’ team’s resume last year, which ended in an early loss in what the Knights were hoping would be a deep playoff run. Totally agree with the disappointment in the lack of respect for northeastern teams in 2A. There’s a lot of good football being played without the same attention that schools in other regions receive.
  6. 4A Dekalb @ 4A Angola: Two teams trying to get an identity this year, and we get to watch this one on freshly laid turf. Give the edge to the home team, Angola by 3 2A Central Noble @ 2A West Noble: This should be a close one. Central Noble's workhorse is gone, so figuring out who the offense will run through will come with some growing pains. West Noble by 1 2A Churubusco @ 4A Columbia City: Busco will need to hit first and hit hard to have a good shot at the bigger county rival. CC by 9 3A Woodlan @ 2A (#7) Eastside: Laban Davis may be gone, but there's a lot of experience returning on both sides for the Blazers. Blowout alert - Eastside by 28 3A Fairfield @ 5A Goshen: I think this will be a close one. I like how FF is coached, and expect this one to be close. FF by 1 1A Fremont @ 1A Southern Wells: SW is in a tough spot. While this would be a great win to set the course for a rebound season, I think Fremont comes out as victors. Fremont by 13 1A (#2) Adams Central @ 3A Garrett: Garrett is always tough and they're coached well. You could say the same about AC, and more. The state runner ups leave Garrett as winners, AC by 10 4A (#19) South Bend St. Joseph @ 3A Lakeland: Playing at home will give LL a slight advantage, but SB St. Joseph is too fast & skilled. SBSJ by 17 2A Prairie Heights @ 2A Whitko: PH has looked much improved over the past couple years, but still have a ways to go. Whitko by 17
