Looks pretty good, but I’d have to put Center Grove #1. 3 seasons unbeaten in the toughest conference in the state. Only loss to a tough Trinity team on a miserably humid night in double OT. Not to mention the environment was unbelievable! I get why you have Brownsburg #1 but I don’t think their resume is quite as good. Barely beat BD who didn’t have their starting QB, and a good Cathedral team that hasn’t really played anyone.

I believe BD signed a 6 or 8 year contract. They must believe playing top competition makes their program better.

Not saying they haven’t had success, just not a successful season. Successful season at Cathedral = state championship. I don’t think making regionals is their goal.

Do you happen to know how many kids at New Pal or Roncalli play both ways? I’m not sure about Carmel or HSE, but CG has 1 that plays part time. That is typically the biggest difference in the 6A school compared to the lower classes. No way a team with multiple players going both ways can make it through a 6A schedule. Cathedral, a top program in any class hasn’t had successful season in 6A yet. It’s just different when you have to play those big schools week in and week out. That is why the rankings are skewed for the 6A schools. IMO

Just curious if you know how the Trinity attendance was for the game at Carmel this season? Typically teams sign at least a 2yr contract. If Carmel has 6 home games 1 season I would say they’ll have 6 away games the next. Unless they’re signing new teams the following season.

New Pal has in the past and they play CG’s middle schools, but I don’t think Roncalli wants anything to do with it. I’m more disappointed with the top HCC teams unwilling to schedule. Perhaps there’s more to it, but they didn’t want CG and Carmel in there conference either…

The MIC contract is up this year. Next season is when the scheduling woes start. BD and LN are the only MIC teams signed up after this year, and LN will fall off the following season.

Maybe you’re correct. I doubt the same MIC teams that are tired of getting beat by CG and Carmel are going to add Cathedral to there schedule though. Nobody wants bye weeks in there already short seasons. Hopefully all 3 can get 9 games scheduled for next season without playing anyone twice.

Exactly my point! CG and Carmel haven’t been able to fill there schedule for next season yet because there MIC contracts are up, and no one but BD and LN will play them?? And LN won’t play them after next season. There’s rumors about CG, Carmel, and Cathedral playing each other 2 times per season.. That would be unfortunate if it comes to that.

$$$Cultural Allignment$$$ or nobody showing up to watch the games is debatable. What is unfortunate is the top programs in the state can’t get a full schedule of games without playing out of state teams. Especially when there are programs locally that can argue they have a better team. If you want to be the best you need to beat the best!

All of the arguments on this topic are good. Fortunately for Roncalli, New Pal, and any other school that feels there strength of schedule is holding them down have a GOLDEN opportunity to add CG, Carmel, Cathedral, and probably a couple other MIC schools to there schedule starting next season. But I’m willing to bet none of them will. Hard for me to understand why you would schedule a 6A team from out of state when there’s plenty of schools locally looking for games.

For the schools that have 100+ kids on the sidelines the running clock is terrible! The 2nd and 3rd string juniors and seniors only get a few plays and the young kids may only get a play or 2. It really stinks for the backup seniors! Unless your coach is an a-hole they would/should use those games to develop young players and give some PT to the kids that have put in the work but aren’t quite as talented as the starters! Not pad stats and run up scores!
