  1. From my understanding on the rule, the ball cannot be moved to the middle.
  2. The thing about math is that there are multiple ways of looking at things to get to your end result. I especially like story problems. So here is a story problem for you. North Judson San Pierre has a football team. There are 40 players on the team. They play Culver Military Academy this Friday night. North Judson struggles kicking field goals and they are more likely to score on a 2 point conversion as statistics tell us that if you are 50% in 2 point conversions, you are 100% in field goals. Trojan67 predicted the Blue Jays will score 24 points in this game. In American Football, a touchdown is 6 points. How many touchdowns can the Blue Jays score to get to 24? How many touchdowns and 2 point conversions do they need to get to 24? How many safeties can they get if the Blue Jays dont score a touchdown? Please show your work for all the questions. Sorry, my sarcasm is running pretty thick today.
  3. Caston at Triton You have to give Caston some credit. They have got a lot of heart. Unfortunately, watching this Triton team, this will be a great game for them to brush up on their passing game and build the confidence they need to add another dimension to their game. Triton 44 Caston 7 Knox at Culver The Skins keep on rollin. I think Radke pulls the starters at half time with a running clock. Knox 54 Culver 0 NJSP at CMA I think my question about CMA right now is how good are the teams they played? Are Marian and Adams good? Even with Benson and Sanchez out right now, it seems the Jays are putting up about the same numbers they were last year. I think it will be a lot like LaVille vs Triton last week minus the free kick from the -48 because I am pretty sure that NJSP doesn't have a FG kicker. I am thinking that maybe the Jays sneak out with a win in this one. Jays 24 CMA 21 Pioneer at LV Ok. Can we just put it out there now that Pioneer is the dark horse right now? Coach Berry has done something right for having a group of young guys step up. Correct me if I am wrong, but if Allen is in concussion protocol this week after taking a hard hit to the ground in the 4th against Triton, I would be concerned who takes his place as Allen is the workhorse. It will be interesting to see what happens, but believe this game will be closer than what people are expecting. LV 25 Pioneer 24 Winamac at North White My biggest question is what is happening in Winamac right now? We all know that they cherish football, but it seems like things have fallen apart over the last couple of years. I know that they were going to have some fall off after their regional run, but honestly didn't think it would take this long to reload. I hope they can pull it together, but I think getting beat by their former MWC foe maybe the thing they need to put together some wins. Winamac 14 North White 35
  4. Got brought in another thread earlier today. Triton vs LaVille, :06 seconds left of the first half, LaVille fair catches at the -48 and initiates the free kick rule inside 10 seconds. A really great teaching moment for all the refs, the coaches, and the players.
  5. Caston at Judson I was really surprised when I saw the score for the Comets last week and was thinking that with the classes they have coming up, it would have been a completely different story. But not much to say about the Jays as the running clock starts after halftime. Caston 0 NJSP 54 Culver at South Central South Central is better than what they showed against Triton. Their defense is the strongest part of their game. SC uses this game to get their run game going. When I saw the interview with Culver with the 46 crew and the coach said they were going to spread the ball out, I had to question why because when I think spread, I am thinking in/outside zone, GT counter, and air raid types of pass plays. Seeing what Culver lost and what they had left, I don't know if this is the offense that we are seeing or if it is more of the Gun-T stuff they were running. But I digress. Culver 10 South Central 21 Knox at Maconaquah Was very surprised at Knox's score last week as my thought process was Winamac may have been the team to surprise us all. I think that this is a really good matchup for Knox with a formidable foe and strengthening their schedule. I haven't really heard much from the TRC discussions about what they bring. But I think Knox continues to bring the heat early on in the season. Knox 35 Maconaquah 21 Pioneer at Winamac My biggest surprise last week was Pioneer knocking off Lewis Cass. My biggest disappointment was the lack luster performance of Winamac. I think Pioneer keeps building that momentum and turn heads in the conference. Pioneer 42 Winamac 14 Triton at LaVille Game to watch. I read that Triton passed the a total of 5 times with no completions and rushed for 320+ yards with Shively leading all rushers. Watching the LaVille vs Bremen game on Saturday morning on 46, it seemed like LaVille didn't prepare enough for Bremen. They did just enough to get by and they cannot do the same against Triton because that trophy they bragged about, could be making a trip to Bourbon tomorrow night. I am going with the upset. Triton 28 LaVille 21
  6. In my opinion and on paper, it just seemed like there were other games that could have been selected. Like Jimtown and Northwood, Warsaw and Michigan City, New Prairie and LaPorte. I haven't watched the game yet and am planning to today, but it sounds like it was a really good game. Like I get it, it was a rivalry. There is no question about it. I just thought on paper, LaVille was going to do more to attempt to make it a blowout win which made it seem like it was a questionable game to be considered the game of the week.
  7. I agree. I think that this year is going to be collectively a really competitive season all across the conference and there are going to be teams that are going throw out some surprises. This game is one of those games where there may be some surprises.
  8. Culver at NJSP I am curious to see how NJSP opens the year up. Not much talk out of either camp over the summer. This is what we know. Culver has a new coach and it sounds like they are going to spread the ball out. But it doesn't help them much because it sounds like numbers are a factor. NJSP on the other hand brings back some experience, and the QB position was the main concern from what we have heard. I am going with NJSP 42 Culver 14 Knox at Winamac Again, not much talk from either camp about who is bringing what to the table. Is Winamac going to be the dark horse and come out and surprise everyone? Should Knox be the front runner knowing how much they lost from last season? I'm going to leave that up to fate and am going with Knox 28 Winamac 21. Pioneer at Lewis Cass Youth is the name of the game for Pioneer and experience is the name for Lewis Cass. Pioneer is well coached and it will take some time to rebuild that winning mentality with this program and get back to their glory days. Lewis Cass on the other hand sounds like they are bringing the heat and putting the TRC on notice that they are coming to have some fun. I don't think it will get too out of hand but Lewis Cass 35 Pioneer 12 LaVille at Bremen This is TV 46 Game of the Week. I know it is a rivalry, but honestly do not know if it is game of the week worthy. Last year was pretty much a slugfest with LaVille getting the best of Bremen. Maybe I am wrong, but LaVille lost a ton of experience. Bremen doesn't have much experience, but they love to hit quoting from Tony Ross in the Marshall County schools interview from earlier in the week. I want to say that this matchup is going to be closer, but my heart is saying that it will be LaVille 42 Bremen 14 West Central at Caston My questions about this matchup is pretty simple. Does West Central continue building off of their sectional win? Caston brings back experience, does this help them take control of their rival? I think the most interesting thing is that the HNAC has the number of MWC opponents and this will continue with Caston winning. Caston 28 WC 12 South Central at Triton I have seen what Triton can do and the hype around this team has brought a different attitude to the program. These kids love to hit and this team wants competition. The atmosphere around Bourbon has definitely changed with the new head coach installing a winning mentality with this program. The towns people will have things to complain about on their community cares Facebook page about their being too many explosions at the south end of the field tonight. I have heard some buzz coming from South Central, though, that their defense has really improved and that they gave Glenn some trouble. The offense though had a lot of issues with not being able to run the ball and their passing game was alright. However, I think Triton's depth and their ability sub players out is going to be the biggest factor in this. Triton will be able to move the ball with ease and you will everyone be involved in this game. Triton 49 South Central 0
  9. At Triton, we used an older program that can only be used on a Windows XP computer. I can't remember the name off the top of my head, but it is still pretty widely used by a lot of the old time staticians. I wanted to use Statman last year, but since I had someone with things set up, it made sense to use that program. I am officially going to use Statman this year. Seems pretty user friendly, but it takes a lot to get things setup.
  10. Last year in the HNAC, 3 coaches stepped down (Triton, LaVille, and Culver) from head coach who was also the AD.
  11. I think overall it is going to be really competitive and honestly probably the most competitive that the conference will ever be once Knox and LaVille depart at the end of the school year. The road is a long road, but it's going to be a fun year and cannot wait to see how the year plays out.
  12. So, if your mad about the NLC not wanting to blow things up, then does the NIC tell the SB schools that they have to go independent or find a new conference? Because that is what I think people are trying to say without saying it.
  13. Wasn't New Prairie wanting the competition? Thought that was one of the main reasons why they went to the NIC?
  14. I said this before in a past post, but I think there needs to be restructuring within the conferences to make everyone more or less happy. Here is my take on the whole situation. Penn, Mishawaka, New Prairie, Warsaw, Goshen, Concord, and Elkhart Plymouth, Wawasee, Northridge, Northwood, Adams, Riley, Washington Just my take, Penn going independent just increases driving. Restructuring the conferences is a better solution. You have 7 in the conference, allows you to schedule 3 non conference opponents. Is it a perfect solution? No. But it is a happy medium.
  15. Based on what we know, invites have been sent out. The only problem is the TRC teams that have been reached out to has the bylaw that schools looking to leave must wait 2 years before leaving. If the departing school leaves after 1 year, the departing school must pay each TRC school $1000. If the departing school refuses to pay, they will be voted out effective immediately. This is what happened to Valley. So, I am sure that the schools who were invited, could be hesitant to accept the invite. Will be interesting to see what happens and if this puts a hold on teams leaving.
  16. CMA will not be joining a conference anytime soon unless they decide to join the new conference. I think they like having the flexibility in their schedule as an independent. People keep bringing it up, but it the only thing realistic is the new conference. As far as your other post about the conferences with the Fort Wayne schools, good luck on trying to convince SB Schools to drive 90 miles both ways. I can see them maybe exploring region teams, but Fort Wayne is super unrealistic.
  17. Definitely agree. You either need to stack the NIC with formidable opponents or they need to become independent.
  18. I like this idea better. NIC: Penn, Elkhart, Warsaw, Goshen, Concord, New Prairie, Mishawaka Northwood, NLC: Plymouth, Adams, Riley, Washington, Clay, Wawasee, Marian, St. Joe New Conference: Bremen, Jimtown, Knox,Glenn, LaVille, Valley, Rochester To me this makes more sense. NIC gets a decent mixture of competition, NLC gets weaker, but still gets decent matchups and good competition, and the new conference gets solid matchups and competition and pretty equal competition across the board.
