  1. Columbus East - 20

    Whiteland - 12

    Halftime

East is MUCH better than last years team at this point. Especially Gilley, McDonald and the line. Doesn’t mean they will win this game but much more encouraging.

    Whiteland - 192 yards 26 rushes. 0 passing (6 first downs)

    CE - 234 yards... 134 passing Gilley 9/12.

0 penalties by CE, which has been an Achilles heal in past years.

I remember last year, the first play of the game vs Whiteland, I knew we were in trouble.  They had scouted really well, and just smothered us.  I truly believe that Gaddis doesn't make that mistake again, and will have the guys ready.  On an additional note, I hope that it doesn't pour like it did vs Whiteland last year lol!

As bad as East played last year East still had a chance to win that game lol.

I'll be really interested to see how East comes out of the gate.  I've heard that there are/were some conditioning issues with some key players, but hope it's been remedied (or wasn't true to begin with).  I kind of remember Whiteland being senior heavy last year (and seemed like they were really big!).  I won't be at the first game (my kid at East may go, so I may at least get a student's perspective on it), but am looking forward to this season!

Gaddis is usually pretty straight forward. I thought in The Republic he had said he was impressed with how well the first practices had been and that they had been going pretty hard. I can see a few conditioning problems tho as kids are just coming back from summer break.

Gaddis did say that nobody is starting both ways this year. While some are back ups that nobody would be starting on both ends of the ball.

  4. Can’t believe Week 1 is finally here! I want to wish all teams around the state good luck and injury free games all season long.

As for week 1, what does Whiteland return? I felt like they were a senior laden team last year.. What should we expect out of them this year. I know the offense will be the same.

As for East, they return a lot of players that either started or saw significant minutes as back ups last year. I’m looking forward to this season to see how East does and how they stack up against possibly a CG match up in the sectional.

There are only 5 notable teams in 5a this year.

    1. Bishop dwenger

    2. Valpo

    3. Castle

    4. Bloomington south

    5. Michigan city

Heard from an inside source new pal will not be very good.

Dumbo (I’ll keep it clean but you are a DA) post of the year came early this season.

cathedral starters only player 17 plays tonight and scored twice. Their defense played the same and held avon to 0 touchdowns. Great scrimmage all around. Go Irish

Majority of starters play around that during scrimmages. That’s about normal for all teams in the upper classes.

Saying Dwenger was chirping because they said they will see New Pal next year in Indy is a HUGE stretch.   If Valpo or Michigan City or even North Side  wanted to take issue with it, that’s one thing but if Dwenger in fact said they will see New Pal next year, they are saying New Pal is so good, they will be in the State Finals. It would have been a compliment.   Nice try though.

Maybe I should have told you to scroll up and not him. I wasn’t the one that originally called it chirping.. that came from a parent of a player.. Even better effort though...

Warsaw is not the smallest 6A school by enrollment. Zionsville, Chesterton, Columbus North and Lafayette Jefferson are all "smaller" than Warsaw, although the bottom 8 schools of 6A are all within 200 students of each other.

Minus CE which is 600 less than anyone else in 6A. Tough sledding for my boys this year lol.
