Fort Wayne Concordia to ACAC
23andCounting replied to adambetz's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Probably a moot point. I don't see South Side and Wayne leaving. They've been part of the SAC since it's inception. -
Penn? I like it.

Fort Wayne Concordia to ACAC

Just a hunch, that's all. South and Wayne have been a member of the SAC for decades. Not an easy decision to opt out. Kudos to Concordia for pulling the trigger. -
Fort Wayne Concordia to ACAC

I'm betting against that. I think this is a Concordia thing. Either way, it will be good for fan attendance. Concordia vs Carroll, Homestead, Snider, and Dwenger just isn't a good draw. -
Fort Wayne Concordia to ACAC

Although it's hard to deny that Concordia is a good fit for the ACAC, Tim Mannigel posted a 34-33 record in the SAC the eight years prior to him taking a year off from coaching. Playing in the competitive SAC helped propel them to four sectional titles during that time. They went 4-26 the four years after his return. I'm wondering why the Cadets are having so much difficulty returning to form. If they do get back on track, Adams Central's stronghold on the ACAC could be in jeopardy. That being said, I'm in favor of the move. I'm looking forward to seeing a third non-conference game for the rest of the SAC. -
Are they considering a move? Truth be told, I don't think Louisville is on the NFL's radar. Too small.
-
Why stop there? Maybe New Albany is interested in a franchise.

It's really kind of sad that the Bears had this beautiful area in Arlington Heights lined up and now they are strongly considering the nasty run down area of Hammond. Money talks. Nor do I feel sorry for the political landscape of Chicago. Is what it is I guess.
-
Doesn't matter. Indiana will operate this as a loss if they have to. They're just laughing their asses off that they took the stadium from Illinois. Indiana's been whipping Illinois politically for years.
-
Illinois has always despised Indiana politically. It'll be off the charts now.
-
Surprised Georgia and Michigan aren't in there there. Not surprised at Notre Dame.
-
Indiana could be only the fourth team to be rated outside of the Top 5 after winning the title since 2011. Right now I have IU, Notre Dame, and Ohio State (no particular order) as the best three teams in the country. Gimmie Texas and Georgia to round out the Top 5.

If Luers beats the Sectional 19 winner, then they are my new favorite team.

The 2017 Dodgers are the only team other than the 2026 Cubs to have posted two 10-game winning streaks and a 10-game losing streak in the same season. "The 2026 Chicago Cubs apparently became just the second team ever to combine two 10-game winning streaks with a 10-game losing streak in the same season. What makes the Cubs even more unusual is that they accomplished all of it before June, whereas the Dodgers' streaks were spread across a much larger portion of the season."

6A - Sounds like a broken record, but Carroll, Crown Point, and Penn will force the northern donut schools to play their best game. It's sounding like Penn might have their best team in recent years. Carroll and Crown Point will be their usual "good." Merrillville on the outside looking in among this group. 4A - Give me North Side as a dark horse. According to one source, they boast 6 of the top 20 football players in NE Indiana. We'll find out if Dwenger is a legitimate threat to repeat after their Week 1 contest with Roncalli.

When are the advantages enough?

Presuming you're retired and your home is paid for. Sending two kids to private schools on $150,000 a year would be an absolute grind. I don't believe that a poor family should have better access to private schools than a middle income family does. Under the old system, private schools were reserved for the rich and the poor, leaving the middle class behind. Currently, a hard working father and mother can offer their children the same opportunity that an unemployed father and mother can. I think it's great. It's a high school football forum, but in all fairness, this "page" was never about football from the beginning. Your question might be a good topic to start a new thread though. -
They are a lock in a 24 team field with two losses and a weak schedule.
-
Correct Correct Incorrect...........but debatable. I will argue that the ACC and Big 12 do indeed need Notre Dame. They already know that competing with the B1G and SEC is an uphill climb. It's hard for the committee to say "you're not deserving" if you beat a Freeman lead Irish team. I think those two conferences need to go in with a "go big or go home" approach to scheduling. Not to mention the kind of revenue at stake when Notre Dame comes to town. Potentially, if your above concerns come to fruition. But I don't think so. Notre Dame is pretty resilient with their independent status. And again, even without Texas, USC, Indiana, or Alabama, a one loss Notre Dame team more than likely makes a 12 team playoff. If the Irish get strong armed as teams like Texas Tech, Arizona State, Clemson (by choice, Miami (by choice), or North Carolina (by choice) opt not to schedule them down the road, then yeah. maybe conference affilliation 5 years down the road is in the cards.
-
It doesn't matter. A one loss Notre Dame team is guaranteed to make the playoff no matter the schedule strength. I don't blame programs like USC and Texas for questioning their sanity by scheduling the Irish in today's college football landscape. Nor would I blame IU and Alabama. The new model for the B1G and the SEC is to schedule cupcakes wherever possible. That's the key ingredient to making the playoff for those two conferences. The committee gives no credit for losses against good teams. Notre Dame will be better served if they start pushing more games against ACC and Big 12 programs. Those conferences need Notre Dame on their schedules, whereas the other two do not.

Could this be DT reincarnated?

What's the correlation between DT and the IFD? -
Decatur Central at Wayne
23andCounting replied to 23andCounting's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I think he meant to say "top team outside of Fort Wayne." Wayne has a brutal schedule in Carroll, Dwenger, Snider, and Homestead. Add North Side to that, they certainly don't need to "amp" up their schedule any more than what it is. My guess is that neither Wayne nor DC really had any other options. -
I haven't been following that story. One would think football should be priority number one for any university, even basketball can't compete with the revenue football is capable of producing. It probably wasn't fair of me to mention Purdue since Odom only has one year under his belt. I honestly think Kelly would choose sitting at a beach versus taking over a program that doesn't seem to be invested.

For now, it appears to be about $750,000 per month. His buyout was 54 million payable over time, but reduced if he takes on a media or coaching job. I mean, at this point why even stress over another job. One could stay pretty busy making over twenty four thousand dollars a day.
