Probably is more about scholarship caps and recruiting season about to get really busy for one last push for the class of 2020

I would have thought that those conversations would of happened after the spring practices before the new recruits are officially on the team.

The 1/3/4/7 offenses are in the playoff.

Those teams are 1/3/27/48 on defense.

The top two teams in the NFC just played a 46-42 game this weekend.  The #1 scoring offense in the league is Baltimore.  8 of the top 10 scoring offenses in the league would make the playoffs if they were to start today.

I am not going to say that a great offense and a mediocre defense will not win you a few football games but statistics will prove that having a better defense wins more. In that NFC 46-42 game, which team had the better defense? Do you think that #48 defense in the CFP will win it all?

"Defense wins championships" is the most outdated idiom in football at the college and pro levels these days.  Have a semi-elite offense and a defense with a pulse and you should win 8-9 (college) 10-11 games (pro) minimum in this era.

Look at the four teams in the CFP.

Look at the top of the NFL standings.

    Records/numbers don't lie

    I disagree.

"Look at the four teams in the CFP."  Clemson, Ohio State have the #1 and #2 ranked defense

"Look at the top of the NFL standings"  Dallas has the best offense in the league and sitting at 6-7.

New England has the best defense and the 15th best offense.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they join the ACC by 2024. Probably the most likely move. Whether that lowers the number of big TV games or not is another story.

I am not sure that a big TV contract in today's world is as big of deal as it used to be. In today's world you can pretty much watch any Power 5 school that you want to see every week.

The point the article makes is valid: Did anyone else who finished in the Top 25 play 5 other teams that also finished in the Top 25?

And I wouldn’t say they have gotten the “benefit of the doubt.” What they have gotten is a Bowl bid that sometimes exceeds their season accomplishments because the bowls are about making money and drawing TV viewers ... and they still are the biggest draw in college football.

I think now that there is a football playoff you will see a decline in viewers for the rest of the bowls. Teams that had hopes of a national title at the beginning of the year look at the rest of the bowls as a participation trophy. You are going to see more and more of the stars on those team sit out the bowl games and without those players there, you probably will not fill the seats. It's time to expand the tourney.

I thought Evan Neal, freshman all-American, ended up starting over him?

That is true but Neal can play multiple positions. I think Deonte Brown(redshirt junior) will go to the draft this year and Neal will move over to the right guard position and Ekiyor will start at left guard. But that is just my opinion.

I have a feeling Emil Ekiyor from Cathedral who is currently at Alabama may enter the portal. Was given a shot earlier in the year and got hurt and may never regain his spot.

He came back from injury and saw a lot of action towards the end of the season. I was at the Arkansas game were he played a lot and he looked really good. Of coarse it was Arkansas but still looked solid. He is second on their depth chart so I would doubt that he leaves.

Just over a week away, and wow, what a difference just one year can make. Based on what we saw last season, I would say Navy has exceeded expectations, while Army seems to have underachieved. Army broke the losing streak last year, but having seen Navy play a few times, I given them the upper hand. I LOVE watching this game every year and hope to experience it in person some time. I love the pre game traditions as well. This is a game EVERY football fan needs to watch.

The Navy unis are pretty sweet

    Army's are too.

So your breadth of experience watching the border bowl says Owensboro isn't worth our time?  There you go again Junior... I can tell you that Owensboro Senior and Henderson would be significant upgrades over Forest Park ,Tell City and North Posey for the larger PAC schools (no offense to my small PAC brethren).  That said I agree with P74....SOS is the biggest fallacy on the GID....nice to have but not necessary for success.

I agree with that. As a fan I just like to watch competitive football games. I would pick a 8 point loss to Southport over a 74 point win vs Pike Central any day.

I think Memorial's dominance the last three years has gone almost unnoticed.

    2016- 9 wins 4 losses 3A  Sectional Champs

    2017-14 wins 1 loss 3A STATE CHAMPS

    2018- 14-1 3A STATE RUNNER UP

2019 they get bumped up to 4A and win regionals and currently are 11-1. They are the favorite to win semi state as well.

What other team has been bumped up due to the success factor and made it to semi state or state?

I know of Cathedral and New Pal
