I don't see any of the city teams ever wanting to give up the city championship. Dividing the conference up would do that. But I never thought I would see the day that this conversation would even exist. So who knows. I guess anything could happen.

So geography out the window this year....nothing like 3 charter bus trips in your sectional!
3A
Yeah but it could be a bike ride for semi-state.

PAC schools voted yes on the proposal today for 2020.
Do you know if they voted to schedule all non conference games at the beginning of the season or not?

I’m also confused on what Jasper gains from joining the PAC. Even with big and small divisions, Jasper and Booneville would be the only 4A schools. So they would be in the same situation by not playing bigger schools.
Unfortunately, you only get 9 games a year in football so relationships are important. Whatever Jasper and the rest of the Big 8 decides to do will have consequences to their schedules and relationships with schools.
Bigger doesn't always mean better. Heritage Hills leads the series between them and Jasper and I would put money on Heritage Hills beating them again next year. IMO if this deal started next year I don't think Jasper would finish in the top three of the conference.

I would argue doing the merger now would make scheduling must less complex at least for the Big 8 teams. The only real challenge in my mind is the existing contacts, particularly on the non-conference side, that both Big 8 and PAC schools would have to walk away from.
I would agree with this since MC is leaving now. It will be hard for the Big 8 teams to find a one year team to fill the void from MC.

T32 you have all the calprep scores posted with VL and Jasper. You talk about domination by GS football for the next several years. You talk about GS being different. And you reply with being married and you win??
I don't recall T32 ever saying that GS will dominate for the next several years. He said he likes their chances on W's & L's but I can't find where he said what you claim he said. Could you quote it for me so that I can see it?

T32 That’s a skill that could earn you a very lucrative salary. I would bet Castle fans feel they should win state championship after championship based on feeder team records.
Honest question. If you don't look at how your feeder schools do, how do you know what you have coming up the pipeline? Do you just wait until they are freshman and hope for the best?

What do you think about this possible conference shakeup?

IMO if those 3 end up together Jasper will be the more dominant team over the long haul. Hard to argue with the success they’ve had over several decades.
I would disagree. Heritage Hills leads the series over Jasper. You can't count them out as a contender, they will be.
All-time Series:
Heritage Hills vs. Jasper
Heritage Hills leads series 13-11- 1

It is not the PAC conferences fault that some teams in the conference play their conference games in the first two weeks. For example Gibson Southern. The game against South Spencer has been the same week since 1981. And it was a nonconference game when it was scheduled that week. Gibson Southern just could not decide which conference to be in. They were in the PAC then went to the Big 8 and then came back to the PAC. In 2000 the 9th regular season game was added. The next year Gibson Southern and Tecumseh started playing in the new week one instead of what became week 4. Forest Park latter took Tecumseh's place on the other teams PAC football schedules. Do you know why the change was made between Gibson Southern and Tecumseh playing in week one instead of four?
All I am saying is if this merger happens, that would be a great time to change the schedules up. It would make scheduling down the road so much better.

I know it’s a dream but SIAC teams and the PAC teams should figure out a way to play at beginning of the year. Could you imagine what Reitz Bowl would look like on a Friday and Saturday with top teams from each conference playing? Passionate fan bases that just enjoy football and friendship.
IMO if the PAC/BIG 8 don't change the schedule and have the non conference games at the beginning of the year they will be making a huge mistake.

How can anyone predict a winner of sectional 32 when no one knows who is even going to be in it?

Trust me- I’m not important enough for anyone to listen to. If I were, these “backroom” dealings and shenanigans would have been nipped in the butt a long time ago. And NP would have been reprimanded for acting as such. But alas, once the wheels are set in motion it’s a tough train to stop. Just don’t understand why we fee the need to come to the aid of another conference falling apart-
I don't look at it as coming to the aid of another conference, I look at it as making better football. Do you really enjoy going to games that you win by 50+ points? In my opinion it will make the teams from southern Indiana better prepared for the tournament, plus it could also grow the smaller schools team size when kids realize they have a shot at competing in games.

I wish they would invest some money and upgrade those ugly uniforms and helmets.

I would drive anywhere for varsity but not making those long trips on work nights for JV games ,, I'm fine with the one trip to Mount Vernon but several long trips on work nights wont happen ...Plus losing Southridge it wouldn't even be a improved schedule.
I totally understand the driving for you Dave. I was just joking with you. There isn't a bigger youth sports fan around than you are.
I will disagree with you on the improved schedule tough. I am sure that you guys can schedule SR for one of your non conference games.

And here I thought the only people that complained about driving too far were the Evansville folks.

If they are going to change it up I hope they agree to have non conference games the first two weeks.
