  1. History made tonight in Evansville. yeah I know it's not football related, but this deserves a post here. In the 106 lb. class, Julianna Ocampo gets a pin with 15 seconds left in the 3rd round to become the first female in Indiana history to earn a spot to compete for a medal. I had Julianna in class and have her younger sister now, and am so proud of her for accomplishing this. She quickly fell behind 9-1 in the 1st round. She battled back in the 2nd round to get the score to 9-5 with some back points. With 1:30 left in the match, she takes the lead at 10-9. Talk about persevering. Not only is she a great wrestler, she is ranked 7th in the nation in the 105 lb weight class, but she is a great kid as well.

It was really cool too to hear the place erupt when she took the lead and even louder after she got the pin.

When I posted this last week (and it was removed) I was told that I had a problem with Barron.  The entire process of hiding facts and not letting people have opinions is a joke.  As a father of a teenage girl I know that if any "teacher" slapped my daughter on the butt I would be going for his head.  Since he is a football coach and a good ole boy we will just let him get away with it.  The girl is the victim not John Barron!

I was not the one who hid the topic, but the standard that has been in place since Tim Adams started this site is that posts like the one you mentioned must have a link/source. The same standard has been in place regarding coaching moves and any matters involving player news. There was a post about the incident at NorthWood this past season. The original topic was hidden for the same reason yours was hidden; there was no link. Even hearing something firsthand does not meet the standard TA set over 20 years ago here. So the claim that this was about some "good ole boy" thing is not even close to accurate.

I am interested to see the approach on conference championship games now for two reasons.

    1.  It is impossible to fairly play a balanced schedule in the Big Ten specifically when you will only see half the conference in the regular season.

    2. A team could actually be "punished" for playing in its conference championship game if it is sitting 9th or 10th in the second to last CFP rankings and loses, thus falling out of the top 11.

Big Ten needs to get to 20 and just do 4 divisions of 5.  You play each of your divisional opponents once, plus two from each other division.  Cut one non-con game and move the season up a week.

Four division winners play semis then, the two winners of those play for the conference championship.

Probably makes too much sense and would never happen.

East:  Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, Ohio State, Pittsburgh

West:  USC, Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Nebraska

Central:  Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois

Midwest:  Indiana, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue

And you still run the risk with conference championships of teams playing each other multiple times. Apply the upcoming season format to this past season. The possibility that Michigan and Ohio State playing each other 3 times in one season is not so far fetched. In the SEC, it could be Georgia and Alabama in the same boat.

  4. Might be my fault for jinxing them, but I texted friends when Purdue was up 15-12 that the 12-11 lead IU had would likely be their last lead in the game. oooops

Are there any school systems that have student enrollments of 50,000 anywhere in the United States? (asking for a friend)

Virginia school districts are County wide districts; one county=1 school district. I almost took a job in Prince William County in the Manassas area. It was a huge district, with 17 high schools, I believe.

  6. No life in them. The crowd did great trying to keep them in the game, and get them back in.
9 games left. What's the over/under? They might win 3 of them.

Couple of Indiana HS kids playing, Chiefs DE George Karaloftis (west Lafayette HS) and Drue Tranquill (FW Carroll) so I’ll be rooting for those guys to make plays along with my squares to hit. Any other Indiana high school players I’m missing? (Think I spelled names correct and have their right high schools)

Number 5, Randy Gregory, a LB for the Niners played at Hamilton Southeastern.

  8. A 12-4 run by Illinois in the last 3 minutes in the first half

Another dumb flagrant foul by Johnson at the end of the half

8-0 run by Illinois in the last minutes of the 2nd half when the game was tied

IU had solid leads on multiple points during the game but lacked the discipline to stick with what was working

    0-9 from 3 point range....first time in 14 years to go 0fer?

Illinois is another team that shoots low from the field and beats IU. They shot 37%

Missed too many free throws; shooting 12/22.

The writers do a fantastic job of developing the evil characters on the show; to the point you really grow to despise them and want to see them die a miserable death. 😄

Been drinkin a lot of high quality H20 (and a shit ton of Busch Light) and watching the NFL playoffs.

Been tryin to get back into hockey, but just can't do it with my Blackhawks struggling somethin awful. They need an enforcer on their team just don't have one.

I knew a guy once who would be perfect for them. Could hardly skate and shoot, but was tough as nails. Can't remember the guys name. Ended up being a hell of a golfer tho.

Agreed. Foligno has been solid. Glad to see they signed him to a new deal. Corey Perry was doing well too. I would have liked to see them hang on to him.

  11. Joe Barry is out as DC. Not that I was rooting for it, but his scheme was off most of the year. Too complicated? possibly, but too many mistakes were made throughout the season; mistakes that occurred even when they won games.

Interesting names have come up as far as who is being interviewed. Brandon Staley (I was really surprised), Bobby Babich (would be a solid hire), and Aden Durde. Not really familiar with Durde other than he was the D Line coach in Dallas and was with Quinn in ATL; and he is from the UK.

I will be curious to see what moves are made this off season. Greatest needs in my mind are safety, CB, especially if Alexander signs elsewhere which appears to be the case from he posted on his twitter. I would love to see a true middle linebacker added; a guy similar to Fred Warner of SF. Campbell and Walker are ok as OLB's, but neither is stout enough to play in the middle against the run. McDuffie is similar to them. I would really like to see Walker just become an edge rusher. he looks slow and lost in pass coverage.
