  1. I love this day....the first official day of the new season. Has there ever been a free agency period with so many quality RB's in it?

Josh Jacobs from Vegas signs with Green Bay

Saquon Barkley going from the Giants to the Eagles

Tony Pollard from Dallas to Tennessee...Not sure it's an upgrade for TN, but they could not hang on to Henry

Derrick Henry from TN to Baltimore. Big upgrade for Baltimore.

  2. While sad to see him go, it had to happen. 13 starts in 3 seasons. When he was healthy, he was dominant. I LOVE this moment. From the last game he played for Green Bay, and his final salute to the Bears....Classic Bakhtiari!

I am guessing he will be A A Ron's teammate soon

  3. 4 in a row to close out the season. Eating crow a bit now as I predicted 3 wins when there were 9 games left. I am going to guess an agent or two, or someone close to agents told Ware and Mgbako they needed to see more if they want to be high draft picks. Johnson is still more of a liability than an asset. They only won 4 in a row a couple times in the pre conference part of the season. Clark Kellogg brought up the word bubble in the post game. I do not see it. They need to win the B1G tourney in my opinion.

Now maybe I’ll just compare Corum to Estime.

    He got 23
He is 3 inches taller and his arms are 4 inches longer
It always impresses me to see what the skill guys do for strength numbers

I think Coach Sharpe had a great support staff.  He didn't have to do a lot of AD work in season.  I think anyone who is a head coach and AD will have their moves under the microscope now a days.  Putting your coaching ahead of a soccer game is a bigger deal now than it used to be.  Having seen us play East Noble, they were always well coached and the kids played hard.  Congrats to him.

Great point about in season. Not sure how many people are on the athletic department staff at EN. A number of schools have also added assistant principal responsibilities to the AD job description. Another similar issue to the one you mentioned could come in any number of decisions that need to be made for other sports, any time a decision is made about football that could give the perception of favoritism is one more headache for a Coach/AD to have to deal with.

On varsity football game nights, other admins will have to pick up some of the responsibilities of stadium management because the AD has coaching duties.

I have a good friend who lives in Boston area, HUGE Boston College fan, former season ticket holder.....

anyways, he is florred that Packers went with Hatley and some of his staff coming over from BC,  he said prepare yourselves Packer fans, its not great

    for what its worth

But he and MLF are buddies lol

  7. IU's Women's team won at Northwestern. It was fun to watch. NU packed the lane on defense to start to keep IU from scoring in the paint, so they started the game dropping 3's. NU extends the defense to shut that down, but IU scores in the paint. It was that way the whole first half.

So much for “champions of the offseason”, lol.

“The hammer is about to drop!”

“ These violations are worth 21 points!”

    Am I doing this right?

No, seriously though…someone explain to me how tampering is a level three violation….

I had the impression that all recruiting rules were out the window. At the end of the season; for a PAC 12 game, the discussion was about the Oregon State QB. It was said that several schools had already contacted him even though he had not entered the portal. I figured the tone in which they said was as though this was the new normal.

So, the new college football 12 team playoff is in place. Jack Swarbrick (on his way out the door in a few months) was one of the unanimous votes for the plan. Under the new format, even if ND is ranked in the Top 4 at the end of the regular season, the highest they can be seeded is #5, meaning they have to win 4 playoff games to win the natty.

If this comes back to bite them (they have to get to the Top 4 first), the inevitable result will be an even louder outcry for the Irish to join a conference. They’ve always said a few things would have to happen for ND to reconsider its position on conference affiliation. One of them is if independent status was a formidable obstacle to competing for a championship. This might be it.

Maybe I am reading this wrong, but it appears that it only says the 5 highest ranked conference champs will get automatic bids. So you could have conference champs ranked 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, and they are guaranteed spots. So ND could be a 3 and lock up that seed? Or, if the 5 highest ranked conference champs could be ranked 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, and ND could be ranked 2nd. I will say it’s a stretch to be number 1 for them, but any scenario is possible.

For those who feel strongly enough that rumors should be allowed on the site, keep in mind a couple things.
    1. These standards were the same standards that Tim Adams, the creator of this site had in place.

    2. This is HIGH SCHOOL football, not college or pro football where athletes and coaches are paid very well to do what they do. We are talking about kids, teachers, and parents. Posting rumors of those people puts indivi9duals in a spotlight that they do not necessarily deserve.

As far injury rumors, every student has a right to privacy. Posting of possible injuries to specific players without their knowing is a significant violation of their right to privacy. This is not the place to break news. If there is a story or a public post from an injured player or a parent of one, or if there is a news story...ok. Feel free to discuss that here.

TA actually limited the discussion on coaching rumors; but mostly from the standpoint of coaching jobs. The change came when a parent saw a post on this site about a possible candidate he thought had interviewed. That coach's current employer was informed of it, and called the coach in to discuss it. A coach should NEVER be put in that position because f what is posted on the site. Again, keep in mind the vast majority of coaches are getting paid pennies per hour for the work they do. There are coaches' families to consider in these spots as well.

Other rumors about coaches can create problems as well. I would suggest people look up terms like libel and slander. Again, if there is a news story, a public statement from the coach or district about a topic, post away.

Perfect example of this is the story about Hammond Morton. No rumors, and it included a link to the story.

But the one that was posted that prompted me posting this was a BIG deal. Not sure how it plays out when the dust settles, but it is important for a story of that magnitude to wait for confirmed sources.

Typically, if your post starts with " I heard...." think about it before hitting submit.

Hopefully that clarifies things even for those who have read the first post here and wondered what was up. In many cases, like the one that led to me posting the reminder is hidden or deleted before many have seen it.

As always, if you have a question feel free to send a message. Now, if you feel so strongly that these standards are wrong, you can let us know that as well, and we can work through a solution, agree to disagree, or take other needed/warranted steps.

Just a reminder from the pinned topic titled "Rumors".

It seems people here are more worried about rumors than the reason this thread was originated.

Absolutely NOT true. How you drew that conclusion is beyond me. The explanation as to why your post was hidden are VERY clear. You are not a news source; even if you had firsthand knowledge of the incident. If you published a story on a news site and included a link, that would have been completely different. Your logic cannot explain why this current topic is still active.

  12. That class on the women’s side seems to be loaded. Krull here in Indiana as I mentioned before is highly ranked, and Audrey Jimenez in Arizona just won a State championship in Arizona becoming the first female in that State to do that. It was cool to see that Kayla Miracle from Bloomington and an Olympic medalist posted a video cheering Ocampo on after her Friday match on the Flo Wrestling Instagram page.
