A Catholic school favored to win a state championship...surprise surprise..what recruiting can get you...you should be so proud

In a word to summarize this....STUPID. Well, lets also go with uneducated.

There are schools who recruit, no doubt. However, I assure you that Chatard is not one of them. As a matter of fact the coaches are instructed to not bring up the school or program to grade school players...even with other schools right there touting their program and even to kids who are in parochial schools who should go to the north deanery high school.

So, we are proud and I laugh at your comment. Sour grapes, I guess. Or, as I said earlier, perhaps just a stupid comment without any back up. Unless you have some to offer, of course.

    Not so fast my friend!!!

Probably the best matchup of the night.  Chatard has struggled with teams in the playoffs who can spread them out.  Both Danville teams and Evansville Memorial were able to air it out all over the place, as well as win the line of scrimmage defensively.  Judging off the scores of WL games, I know they can score points and will air it out.  However, can WL D-Line and LBs handle the Chatard running game?  According to a few people WL struggles defensively and is predictable, but I believe they load the box and man up the Chatard WRs because everyone in the state knows that Taylor can beat you.  So, can the Chatard QB and WRs win matchups against the WL secondary?

I like this matchup for WL because I think they have the better athletes.  I'm expecting a lot of points in this one,  West Lafayette 40, Chatard 35

QB and WRs are more than good enough...

  3. The sectional of death comes to the finish line. Starting with the class 3A #s 1, 2, 3, 6, and 11 ranked teams, we now find #s 1 and 2 competing for the sectional championship.

Very excited to see this game and glad it came down to these two very deserving teams. WL moves fast and has some real studs on both sides of the ball. Chatard is solid all around and will enjoy having home field for this contest. Come early as it is expected to be standing room only.

Weather looks to be cold, a bit breezy, and perfect for this match up.

Have not seen yet if this will broadcast, but would assume it has to be as it features #1 vs #2...

We were supposed to be heading home last year as well. I think EM has answers the bell every time vs Chatard.

Repect Chatard and you guys are the gold standard for 3A football but we would be playing Friday if in 32. Just as we are in 24.

Last years game would have been a running clock for semistate.

Fair enough - not going down that rabbit hole. EM won and we lost last year. Period. Wanna bring up last year, fine.

IMO - this year's Chatard team has been more than solid. Talking about EM who is in class 4A holds no value to me. I am more interested in WL, HH, SR, MM and the other teams still competing for state.

Appreciate the love for HH, but we have a battle on our hands this week and a long way from anything dealing with Chatard.

Sectional 32 and Sectional 28 are just tough. Good luck to you vs. SR. We have our own battle with WL. Only three more days to game day!

I'm sick of people up north still not giving 3A 32 any love. We had to show Chatard last year what it is about! Good luck to HH pulling for you guys!

You should be damn happy you are in 4A this year cuz Memorial would be heading home for sure this year. AND, yes, you won last year...congrats. So much to say, but it is what it is. Let's see what good ol sectional 32 does this year!

Oh yeah - and you lost at LOS,, soooooo.....

Ill go ahead and address this as well. Ive been following catholic school football in the city for years and this just simply isn't true. Chatard and Cathedral have gone hand in hand since the beginning of time. Ill agree, the balance tipped for 4-5 years up until last year. Those were abnormally GREAT cathedral teams with D1 guys all over the field. How they arrived at cathedral is neither here nor there. But before this run was Chatard winning in '12 and nearly winning in '13 if it werent some guy playing for the Redskins now. Heard hes having an OK season :P. Regardless, Chatard and Cathedral returned to its ultimate form the past 2 years and theyre 2 of the top 4 teams in the state this year. To say theyre not in the same breath is absolutely ridiculous. Gold helmets and a castle for a school doesnt warrant that nonsense. *mic drop*

No friggin doubt - ridiculous nonsense for sure!

    Chatard -14.5

Don’t understand the rant exactly. If Chatard walks through 3A and Cathedral loses to Decatur on Friday, Cathedral still beat Chatard. Cathedral is a class up while Chatard remains in their original class. A 3A Champ BCHS is still not in the same breath as a reformed 4A (sometimes 6A) Cathedral. So, if this discussion is about size, most of us on this board know that doesn’t matter.

OMG - seriously, bringing up the Cathedral win again, eh. Okay, whatever. Not sure I understand your point, other than to be a burr, regarding performance of each school within their class playoffs and reg season. For your comment about "not in the same breath as a reformed 4A (sometimes 6A) Cathedral" - fine, I guess. You do you, we will focus on WL and 3A. Perhaps you stay in your reformed lane in 5A, sometimes 6A, would have mopped up 4A class with Cathedral. Seriously? Again, whatever.

At least I have an opinion and prefer not to prop up the status quo...............

I am guessing your opinion is based on some old school, small town, political,  bs - doesn't matter. Status quo should always be challenged, but your stance is firmly based on quick sand regarding this...and we have heard you over and over and over again.

On to the games - let's gooooo!

That may be...but WL has been in the state finals the last 2 years and still has Adams. They also have Yanni who is rumored to be just as good has his older brother. The lafayette schedule isn’t exactly a slouch.

with that said....3A has been a unique class over the past decade and while yes SoS matters, the class is loaded with talent and great coaching. Never just bank on tough schedules and how they fair.

Chatard definitely won’t be overlooking anyone

Perfect example of this is just last year when Chatard had, arguably, one of the very strongest SOS in the state, but ultimately fell short of it all vs. a team which had a much lower SOS...it happens. Thus, we play the games!

I like Chatard, obviously, but any team in sectional 28 is, IMO, gonna be the hands down favorite to go to LOS

Dunno.  If I run into Mike Ford I will ask him.

While you are at it - ask him why he keeps scheduling Guerin JV every year and then they cancel EVERY YEAR due to numbers. However, they ALWAYS cancel the week of the game which leaves the JV squad with one less game - ridiculous and lazy to just copy and paste every year. Definition of insanity, right?

3A will be the survivor of 28 vs Mishawaka Marian lol.

Chatard is probably the favorite but nobody is sleeping on WL and for good reason.  If Guerin or Brebeuf win the sectional they should be the favorite....and then there is Hamilton Heights and Yorktown I believe who have been great in the past and may be getting overlooked.

    I could not agree more!

Any insight on Joe Strickland? I believe that’s his name.  If I recall he is the only officially ranked prospect for the class of 2022 in Indiana....yet I have seen little about him on the board.  But by all accounts of what I’m seeing, he is a great defensive end and only a sophomore

Don't know much about him, but my guess is that the Chatard coaches know him and will need to account for him.

And have the sectional title game played at a neutral site while you're at it.  Also play the regional and semi-state games at neutral sites as well.  They do in Ohio and it works out well.

Since this is Indiana and the format is locked and loaded for this year...

Sectional 28 will have several great games. Personally, the first game for Chatard should be one of the best opening games in the state next. The first game of the season between these two really doesn't matter as both teams are much more developed and playing at a higher level. Too bad that the top 3A teams who could win state are going to winnow down to just one sole survivor. I believe the sectional 28 winner will win state
