:classic_dry: At least you're honest I guess.  Two best teams in 3A battling it out for the right to be call a State champion!  This is what high school football is all about!  Gotta love it!

Absolutely gotta love it. Over 300 Indiana football teams and there are 12 left to see what 6 are left standing. Regardless, hell of an experience for all involved to be a part of it and play one last game (for the seniors) in Lucas Oil !!!

I have known many of these kids since they were little and watched them for years and this is a dream come true for them.  But getting to LOS is not the goal--winning state is.  They have heard the poison all year about "everyone in 3A is playing for 2nd place".  They are chomping at the bit to do everything they can to see that BC is that 2nd place.  No, we don't have a roster full of guys that have moved in from all over the region to play for the super school that will be playing D1 football with a few playing on Sundays in a few years.  BUT, what we do have is a bunch of hard nosed country boys that will give it everything they have, every snap--and if they have the game of their life (which I think they will), it will be enough.

This has got to be the most unselfish team I have ever seen play.

Regardless of what happens, BC may be surprised that they probably haven't been hit as hard as they will be hit Friday afternoon.

I am sure every single Chatard player (none of which have moved in from any region) will look forward to getting hit hard. They love it and will always want more. Looking forward to the match up and, of course, every player on both teams playing their hearts out! Nothing less would be acceptable. Too much work, too many years, too much love to not lay it all on the line!

Memorial, ill tell ya those boys play ball. Well coached, great players, great winning tradition these past few years! Our warriors can atest to that too!

Memorial has played far tougher competition and have faced far more established coaches than this EN team has the entire year!

The lack of competition has given EN a free ride to state and will also be the biggest downfall of this team!

Memorial wins this one simply because they have been here, done this, and will do it again!

    EM: 35

    EN: 20

I feel it important to say too, i think 20 for EN is a stretch vs this memorial team!

WOW - Danville is done and gone which is where I thought you would be for the rest of this year. Oh well.

Who do u think Chatard has been running all over this year, 1A teams? HH isn’t going to scare Chatard and the O Line and Taylor are incredible. And don’t forget a Sowinski at WR.  Choose your poison.

    and - wyatt Schrader (lb)

    and - kyle cheek (qb)

    and - pat mastrian (s)

    and - George assalley (dl)

    and - tim mcnelis

    and - max schrage

and - ol - joe Solomon, Dakota boyd, alex geise, jack woodcock, will mason

    and - derion gilbert (rb)

the list goes on and on and on.

This is a very, very solid team with no drop off or significant weakness. OL and DL are exceptional. Offense brings outstanding run or pass - choose your poison (as mentioned above).  Game is played on the field, but if this team does it's job, then Friday will be a Trojan celebration! So excited for this entire week.

    Chatard 42

HH 14 (unless coaches decide to keep starters in for entire game)

From what I have gathered through reading this thread is Lysander and Trojan 88 still makes every excuse in the world on why Chatard lost to Danville in back to back seasons. Typical private school fan, make excuses when they lose and give no credit. Must have been back to back down recruiting years for Chatard.

    STC still loves his BL's

Muda loves those thickburgers from Hardee's

The reason Danville struggled in the first two drives against Vincennes was do to the Asbestos exposure and Hepatitis from the raw sewage on the floor in the locker room. Once that was out of their system, it was a no doubter. My Buddies son told me it was the worst locker room conditions he has ever seen.

Now about the Game. I do not have a dog in the fight. But I am going to go with the county foe Danville 21- HH 14. Should be a slobbernocker of a game!

Go back and look at the thread and tell me where I made any excuse? Also, I provide no credit, but that is not due to any conscious decision, rather I have nothing to say on the matter the Danville wins.

Your comment on "typical private school fan" and "down recruiting years" reveals your bias and unsubstantiated commentary/opinions. No excuses, no reasons...you lose, you lose....you win, you win. Now, how you act during the wins and losses might be another topic, but the fact remains that Danville won, Chatard lost. Lots of opinions, but not relevant to this weekend which I stand by my prediction 42-14 HH over Danville.

No dog whatsoever in the Chatard/Danville history/discussion/back-forth...but did the COACH really just leave the sideline to go stand in front of the stands so that everyone can "look at me??" Really??

I have no problem whatsoever with genuine excitement and celebrating with your guys ...but to leave the sideline and go stand amongst the cheerleaders?? Really??

Sorry for the distraction from the game - but man...

Not really surprising. However, that is the past. The present will have HH win 42-14 and hopefully meet Chatard at LOS. I expect this topic/thread to be gone in about 36 hours

Chatard is praying for a Heritage Hills win.  Two game losing streak to Danville.

Whew - so glad someone articulated that fear and our prayers.

    Seriously?

Danville is not winning Friday IMO and IF they do, then Chatard will be more than happy to end the "losing streak" at LOS and run at least 6 swinging gate plays after we are up 35...should we get there. I would think Mishawaka and HH are great teams who could win and go to LOS - - - Danville....is not.

Most of the coaches were there.  Danville won with lesser athletes in 2016.  Trojans got out coached.  Poor Vince ended his career with a loss to Danville.  Too bad you didn't hire Woods to replace Vince.  Then you wouldn't be worried about how to beat him.

What I want to know is how is Logan White of Parke Heritage not in this conversation? School size aside, numbers do not lie. He threw for 3800+ yards, 42 touchdowns, 75% completion percentage, with a QB Rate of 143.7. Not to mention 452 yards on the ground with 12 more touchdowns. Undoubtedly should be in this conversation.

    Agreed

  10. I went to maxpreps and took the top 50 Indiana QBs (defined as total passing yards) in the state (regardless of class) and then sorted by Rate. Not perfect, but begins to sort out a list. So, with that in mind, the top 10 using that criteria showed up as:

Name Pos Yds Yds/G Comp Att Pct TD Int Rate G
    1 Logan White - Sr QB, P 3802 345.6 261 344 0.759 42 6 143.7 11
    2 Rylan Metz - Sr QB, FS 2576 234.2 190 270 0.704 31 4 132.6 11
    3 Kyle Adams - Sr QB 3938 328.2 294 407 0.722 55 10 131.9 12
    4 Maximus Grimes - Jr QB 1886 235.8 113 177 0.638 19 2 130.8 8
    5 James Arnold - Jr QB, MLB 3168 264 158 271 0.583 43 6 129.7 12
    6 Kyle Cheek - Sr QB 1978 152.2 147 222 0.662 29 4 126.5 13
    7 Alex Stirn - Sr SS, QB 1894 157.8 118 190 0.621 24 4 126.2 12
    8 Garrett Yoon - So QB 2332 179.4 140 218 0.642 28 8 124.5 13
    9 Luke Goode - Jr QB 2778 231.5 175 286 0.612 27 2 122.1 12
    10 Bailey Parker - Sr FS, QB 2730 210 205 323 0.635 39 6 122 13

Obviously, there is the eyeball test, dual threat players, program tendencies (i.e. run vs. pass, etc), quality of line/team, etc. However, I think this is a decent slice to start a conversation. All very good in their own right!

I looked at Chatard's roster on line.  They list the schools their players come from.  Most are from their parochial feeder schools.

And with open enrollment what is the real issue?

They are calling for heavy rain on Thursday.  Marian's field is decent but not sure how the rain would effect it.

no issue as far as I am concerned...just responding to the "recruiting" comment which is a perception with no reality....as far as Chatard goes that is

  12. Here's a scenario to consider...

In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. The best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are promoted to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are relegated to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between levels 1 and 2, levels 2 and 3, levels 3 and 4, and so on. During the season, teams that are high enough in the league table that they would qualify for promotion are sometimes said to be in the promotion zone, and those at the bottom are in the relegation zone (or, colloquially, the drop zone or facing the drop).[1]

Not very familiar with Chatard this year. More pass focused of an offense, or are they sound all around? Impressive the amount of points they score.

This year's team is all around very solid with 7 All-City players:

    Cheek - QB

    Taylor - RB

    Sowinski - WR

    Solomon - OL

    Assalley - DL

    Schrader - LB

    Mastrian - DB

What makes this list so interesting are the players who are NOT on this list. Seriously, top to bottom very solid in all aspects (O, D, ST). This obviously does not mean anything as wins/losses are decided on the field.

Regarding style. Certainly less pass this year vs. last two years, but absolutely more than the Coach L days where he ran 98% of the time. I would say 65/35 run/pass ratio. So far, this team is performing very well and the young men playing every Friday have earned every opportunity and success to this point.

Looking forward to this Friday. Leaving a bit early to get a bite to eat before the game. Thanks to all with your suggestions regarding Ft. Wayne cuisine.

    Chatard 42 - Concordia 14

  14. Chatard / Cathedral game was a very good game and you trying to make it more or less while sitting in your mom's basement is hilarious. Both programs are having a great year. That game could have gone a lot of different ways, but at the end, Cathedral won. Props. Both schools could be at LOS in a few weeks, who knows.

I have to admit that I wasn't sold on Cathedral at the beginning of the year, but they have athletes with tons of speed which covers for some of the fundamental flaws and execution. I think the New Pal game will be incredible and I really could see either team winning. New Pal will grind it and if they can stop the big plays, then I like their chances to win based on consistency of play. However, a couple of big plays by the Irish changes everything, so it will be a contest for sure.

This time of year makes for some fun Friday nights!
