Everything you just said is spot on. The offensive line looked great. The defense did some chasing as you mentioned, and the irish could not capitalize on 2 INTs. Elder was a great football team who is ranked number 1 in ohio. On a positive note there is not a team in 5A with the size and speed that elder had. They all around had a lot of weapons

In my opinion there is not a team in 5A who can play with Cathedral. All around Cathedral is the best in the state of indiana. Once again, In my opinion.

IMO - your opinion is clouded with thick rose colored glasses. Cathedral is good, but you elevating them to that level is just crazy right now. Forget best in state, they currently are not even the best in 5a.....IMO. So funny 🙂

Just the function of a much better football team. I think Memorial D’s was tired of hearing they couldn’t stop the Trojans offense. Especially after how well Chatard played vs Winston Woods from Ohio.  Chatard is the class of 3A football. Shocked Memorial has won the 3 semi state meetings so convincingly.

Chatard looks like the favorite in 3A again. Just don’t underestimate the winner from sectional 32. A really really good football team will be represented SW Indiana in 3A.

Gibson Southern looks to be that team right now...especially if that young QB continues to develop

Yep,  I would agree with you, Trojan88.  Chatard's D did a heckuva job.  I still wonder what might have happened if Chatard had scored a TD to go up 10-0 instead of having the INT on the goal line.  That game could have been a barn-burner down to the wire.

Was my first time watching a game at that stadium - truly awesome venue and your crowd was more than into it! Trust me - I played so many "what if" scenarios since then, but...in the end...Memorial won. Tough, tough loss...probably easier to swallow if it was a closer score instead of the beat down which was not even remotely expected

I think most people were under the impression that central Reitz and others would improve in the SIAC.  Seems to me now that only Memorial North and MD have taken those steps.

Also...don’t sweet talk us into believing Memorial’s offense is just as sharp as last year lol....not even Chatard or West Lafayette could slow you guys down last year.  Last years WL team had 3 of the best defensive players in the state I believe too, headlined by both Karlaftis brothers.

I will eat crow about Memorial’s defense being better this year though. I said it wouldn’t be and all signs say I’m wrong

Although Memorial took Chatard to the woodshed last year, the reality is that Memorials offense did have their way with Chatard's defense. Anyone who saw that game knows that Memorial won big time, but that was not a function of their offense.

Tough to tell after just two weeks, but Chatard has to be at least knocking on the door.  No bias here! 😁

Will learn a lot in the next two weeks vs. Roncalli and Cathedral

Even with bias (and I have it) - lets be real - Chatard has performed extremely well so far against the #3 3A (at the time) Brebeuf team and the #4 4A North Wood team. Again, really early, but Chatard looks strong right now.

Have to comment on  this one - Memorial was excellent last year and took Chatard to the wood shed in semi-state. However, the Chatard defense did more than slow down Memorial last year....anyone who saw that game would concur.

  7. Not sure about Guerin, but they are well coached, so I would expect them to have a good season- have some good key players as well. Good start in week 1.

Roncalli I would expect to be much improved this year as their QB enters his second season after starting as a freshman last year. They are always tough and play hard.

Brebeuf always trends higher as the season progresses and they seem to play their best football come playoffs. Not too much to read into week 1.

Chatard had a good week 1, but its a tough conference and they are in an even tougher sectional - health will be key, as it is for everyone.

I got nothing on the others...

    Looking forward to week 2!

    2019 & 2020 Sectionals:

Crawfordsville and North Montgomery are in an absolute meat grinder of a sectional.

    Presentation1.jpg

#28 = toughest sectional in the state. Coaches poll is way too premature to determine contenders, but its all we have right now. #1, 2, 3, and 7 with another receiving votes. . . brutal

    Class 3A

    1. West Lafayette (10) 100

    2. Bishop Chatard 83

    3. Brebeuf Jesuit 67

    4. Gibson Southern 62

    5. Heritage Hills 49

    6. Brownstown Central 42

    7. Guerin Catholic 30

    8.  Mishawaka Marian 27

    9. Fort Wayne Concordia 18

    10. Cardinal Ritter 17

Receiving votes: Lawrenceburg 13; Evansville Bosse 9; Jimtown 8; Batesville 7; Greencastle 6; Vincennes Lincoln 6; Yorktown 2; Danville 1.

  9. I believe in 1997, DuJuan Daniels won and he was from 3A Chatard. However, point taken that larger class schools have historically won the award. I'm not sure I have an opinion on that part, just wanted to chime in on the 3A comment

Jack Kiser was more than deserving this year. Complete package and a beast
