I think the interim coach from 2020 is still on staff. Maybe he didn't want to be the HC? I'm not sure, just speculating.
100% correct.

You are a talented writer. Have you ever considered it as a career?

I was trying to do PXP - thankfully, we'd seen MV enough that we could identify each player without really having to look at the jersey numbers.
Of all teams to be forced to wear.

I've witnessed it - several years ago, New Pal was hosting the sectional and Mt. Vernon (which had a new coach) and Shelbyville were slated to play. They go out for warmups w/warmup tops on. When they go to the captain's meeting, I notice both teams' captains are wearing white shorts. I look at my broadcast partner and say "this is going to be a problem."
MV was supposed to be the visiting team and their coach mis-read the bracket (in his defense, for years, the team in the top of the bracket was the home team and it had recently been switched to the bottom bracket team being the home team) and brought the wrong uniforms. Because they couldn't delay the game for someone to drive to Fortville and bring the correct uniforms, New Palestine's old JV road uniforms were dug out of a storage room and MV had to wear those for the sectional game. I believe that happened again this year at a different sectional site.
(In my basketball coaching days, we told our players to ALWAYS bring both uniforms to a tournament, even though the bracket clearly states which ones we're supposed to wear).
As a Marauder, this causes me pain.

Unintended consequences of "contraction."

You exhibit that grandiose pp hubris that I just love to attack.
Its always been good for business. We all have our place in life.
You have quite an imagination.

9 of last 13 1A state titles have gone to the Catholics. Catholics were runnerups in 2 of the 4 non PP title wins.
That is total and complete dominance, and most likely will continue given current trends.
He seems to have missed The Reformation.

Easy comments to make coming from that lofty perch you sit on.
You know absolutely nothing about the perches I have sat on in my career. Very ignorant statement. I do have a couple of big fat rings from lofty perches but I have also been among the worst teams in the state. Football is good for kids in high school. Even bad programs. I have no clue why you keep bringing it up. What a horrible way to look at life.... you aren't good so quit trying.
Maybe you played once upon a time but you seem to have missed the point of high school athletics. I usually scroll past your nonsense but I think its important to speak out toward nonsense from time to time. If you quit posting today about your lunatic proposal that ADs across the state should stand up an listen no one would miss them. Its a dumb idea you made up.

Does the following describe your high school football program?
Winning percentage of less than .200 over the past decade
Chronic coaching turnover as you are hiring your fifth staff over the last 10 years
Low turnout, lack of roster depth, and poor lower level numbers
Nonexistent feeder system
Apathetic administrative and community involvement
Poor equipment and facilities
Does your football program help fund other athletic teams at your school?
Does your football program lose money?
Does your student body come out and support the football team on Friday nights?
After answering all of these questions, ask yourself the following question.
Why haven't I recommended football contraction to my principal?
Only those who tell you how ridiculous we think you are and you are the only people talking about it.

Going back to my original post. To say Notre Dame has a "fence around Indiana", when they barely recruit the state is a bogus statement.

Trying to remember the last in-state player the Irish recruited hard and didn’t get.
I don't follow Notre Dame closely. There are six Indiana players on their roster. Doesn't sound like a wall. Pete Werner flipped from ND to OSU. Everyone in the nation wanted Curry. Emil Ekiyor has started most of his career at Alabama. That's off the top of my head. Do they only recruit the guys they know they can get?

Notre Dame has historically had a fence around the state of Indiana. There has been an occasional misevaluation but simply put, the program needs to land every player that they want in the state.
Huh? Stopped reading the article when something so obviously not true is written.

Tim Bless steps down at Columbus North. Great run coach!

Jamborees were fun to play in as a player. As a coach I prefer scrimmages. I know in the scrimmage how many snaps of offense vs. defense we're going to get. That isn't the case in a jamboree. A quick score or a turnover and your team will spend much of the night on one side of the ball.

Good catch, and how convenient that Park Tudor revised its enrollment to have *one* fewer student than Eastern Hancock after the revision.
That should bump EH up to 2A and Park Tudor down to 1A.
Even if innocent this looks fishy.

It isn't only a high school football book but the best "non-football" football book I've ever read is "A Season of Life" by Jeffery Marx.

Not sure if there is anything to it......

That's a good salary for a government school employee in the state of Indiana.
It's great. Higher than many administrators. Wasn't saying otherwise, just saying its not $115-120K.

John Hebert makes 94K in teacher pay at Carmel, not including his coaching stipend. Add in his coaching pay and he is likely in the 115-120 range.
Its certainly not out of the range of possibility that a school wanting to hire a hot young coach with the intentions of turning around its program might bump that figure by 20 to 30% if thats what it takes to get their man.
Thats how you get to $150K
Inflation is driving compensation increases everywhere, especially for top performers. There are a handful of young coaches who could come to Indy seeking that amount. Several are on my list.
94K with the coaching stipend. The website you are using shows the total amount paid from the school to the teacher.

I hear that Urban Meyer may be available soon.
This reminds me of one of my favorite all time posts on the Gridiron Digest. Around 2000 Bob Davie was on his way out and either Cathedral or Chatard was looking for a HC. A thread was started, and subsequently locked, about who was the next man up at the school. Someone ( I wish I remember who) posted, "Bob Davie should be the next head coach, He can't recruit and Cathedral/Chatard doesn't. Hilarious.

I was in HS when Marshall closed (abruptly in 85 or 86 if I remember correctly). Many of the students were sent to Arlington. There was a lot of violence since they were rivals and most were upset and forced to attend. At Mt. Vernon we received a lot of transfers when the violence broke out at Arlington.
