Yes, I'm sure private investment has zero interest in this future wasteland.

(that was sarcasm by the way)

This soccer stadium project has been talked about for a few years. It has always been presented as "privately funded" no public dollars. Then, as always, when any project is near finalization the thruth comes out.  But at least we're still being taxed on the Hoosier (yes Hoosier) Dome.

You don’t need players with D1 potential to be a power in 1A/2A, which is a big reason why some players/families choose to go to a 1A/2A parochial school.  They may not have the talent to get a lot of attention or make as much of an impact at a 5A/6A school, so they choose to go to a smaller school where they can be one of the best players and get more attention.  These are the kind of players that would be more likely to go to an NAIA program or D3 school, which is often a great fit for them.  Blackhawk Christian has many similar characteristics to Indianapolis Lutheran.  Enrollments are almost identical, very similar demographics, and both located in a highly populated area near much larger schools.  Using Lutheran as an example, they have been able to attract solid players to their 1A program despite being close to Roncalli, Franklin Central, Warren Central, New Pal, etc.

Here is the list of parochial schools with football.  Nearly all of them have won or appeared in a state championship.  I won’t be surprised to see Blackhawk with a competitive 1A program in the next 5-10 years, and making an appearance in the 1A finals within 15 years.  Lutheran played their first IHSAA tournament game in 2006.  They went to state for the first time in 2019.  It took Covenant Christian 6 years to go to their first state finals in football.  Heritage Christian also made it to state in their 6th year playing in the tournament.

Is it just coincidence that there is very little talent in the IPS? In Indianapolis you go from one extreme to the other. The privates and suburban schools are the best of the best of what Indiana has to offer..............and the IPS is the worst. Is the talent pool in the IPS being drained?

I would estimate the number of IPS student athletes in township schools would be at least 10x (conservative estimate) of those in private/parochial schools.

The situation regarding ticketing needs to be addressed.  There is no reason that 'outside" fans shouldn't have the ability to purchase tickets at a State Finals school, free from 'convenience" charges.  Heck, at least have a charge go directly to the IHSAA at a MUCH lower price...  $2 per ticket?  $7 to Ticketmaster is a bit excessive, even with some of that going to Meridian Street.

I had the benefit of being able to buy at the gate during games on Friday for Saturday's games, saving the extra $7.  If the IHSAA wanted to charge $20 a ticket and they get all the money I'm all in. As much as they may frustrate many of us the IHSAA does a great job.  Not a fan of paying a 3rd party that much.  I hope they are looking for a different option.

They don't call it the "National Association of Ineligible Athletes" for no reason :).

As a former NAIA player and coach, as well as an NCAA D-II coach (Not to mention a father of an NAIA and NCAA D-III football players.) I have to respond....

NAIA has initial eligibility requirements for incoming freshmen.

NCAA D-III does not. Get into the school you are eligible.

And no, NCAA schools don't necessarily have higher entrance requirements.

    Hashmarks are different, too.

It's 40' between the hashmarks on an NCAA field, 53.3' between the hashmarks on an NFHS one. Although HS hashmarks can usually be applied to a college field fairly easily, converting the goalposts is a more arduous task.

When you play Ritter at Marian there are no HS hashmarks and the goalposts are not swapped out.  Its like ground rules being discussed for baseball stadiums/fields.

I would bet the farm that this person is a newcomer to Sheridan.  One, to criticize the legend like he did and two to think that this is something new.  Putting out there is not going to win many friends in the Sheridan area.  I hope that wasn't their real name.

Usually when people go on a rant about a coach they have only posted a few times.  Not only is he a legend he is also a super nice man.  7 teams in the Hoosier Heartland would love to be so poorly coached in 2022.

Can't speak for other schools, but the weight room culture at New Pal is pretty significant across sports. Coach Ralph has overseen the weightlifting/conditioning for the softball program, which has won three state championships since he came to NP. The athletes in other sports see what football is doing and they do the same.

Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't the New Pal softball team lifted on the day of one of their state championships.  There are STILL baseball coaches who believe (even in the off season) that pitchers shouldn't lift like every other athlete. Really unbelivable.
